- Not to be confused with the Twelve Paladins of Charlemagne.
Paladin (パラディーン, Paradīn?),[1] also known as Shielder Paladin (シールダー・パラディーン, Shīrudā Paradīn?),[2] is a non-standard Servant Class exclusive to Mash Kyrielight. Mash creates the Paladin class during the events of the Reckoning Singularity.
The class was named by Romani Archaman. He came up with the name while watching Mash during the Sixth Singularity.[2]
Qualifications
Servants placed within this Class are Holy Knights of Chaldea. It is not a Class born by borrowing the power of the Heroic Spirit Galahad, but was brought into being by Mash's awakening to her own intrinsic worth.[3] Kadoc Zemlupus notes that no other Heroic Spirit has ever qualified for such a Class and if there was one, it could only be Galahad himself.[4]
Known Paladins
| True Name | War | Master |
|---|---|---|
| Mash Kyrielight | Grand Order | Ritsuka Fujimaru |
Other qualifying heroes
| True Name | Current Class | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Galahad | Shielder | This is an assumption assuming that another Heroic Spirit could even qualify for this class.[4] |
Development
Mash's duel with Galahad and transformation into a Paladin were originally planned to happen in the British Lostbelt.[5]
The title of the second Camelot movie, Paladin;Agateram, was meant to be foreshadowing for the Paladin class.[6]
Ototsugu Konoe asked about making Saber Astolfo Paladin during the Servant's development, but Kinoko Nasu explained at the time that it was an exclusive class for Mash. Ototsugu was shocked by the massive spoiler, waiting for years while wondering when Mash's class change would happen.[7]
