Nagakura ShinpachiWP (永倉新八WP?), Class Name Berserker (バーサーカー, Bāsākā?), is a Berserker-class Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.
Profile
Identity
Nagakura Shinpachi was the second unit captain of the Shinsengumi, a police force that served in Kyoto at the end of the shogunate.
As the sayingWP goes, "First is Nagakura, second is Okita, third is Saitou". Even among the collection of swordmasters that made up the Shinsengumi, he was considered to be one of their strongest swordsmen. Surviving the upheaval at the end of the shogunate and living to see the Meiji era, he passed down his knowledge of the Shinsengumi to future generations through his accounts such as the "Shinsengumi TenmatsukiWP".
A veteran member of the Shinsengumi since the Shieikan era. He mastered the Shindō-Munen sword art style, the same style mastered by the bureau chief Serizawa Kamo, whom he was on good terms with. Although he supported Kondo Isami as the bureau chief, he insisted on being treated as an equal comrade instead of a retainer. He later parted ways with the Shinsengumi for this reason.
During the Ikedaya IncidentWP, he teamed up with Kondo, Okita Souji and Toudou Heisuke to slay their opponents with only a party of four. Despite his wounds, he continued to fight to the end.
In the Battle of Toba-FushimiWP, he was nicknamed "Gamushin" by his comrades for his fighting style, which included rushing headfirst into battle with a single sword onto a battlefield with flying bullets.
Like Saitou, Nagakura was one of the few Shinsengumi members who survived the upheaval at the end of the shogunate and lived a full life, and it is no exaggeration to say that the records of the Shinsengumi have been passed down to this day through Nagakura's words.[2]
Appearance
Personality
He had a bold and pleasant personality was compassionate, and was loved by his troops, but because of this, he often got into trouble with his superiors. He insisted that he and Bureau Chief Kondou were equals, and continued to object to his treatment as a retainer.[2]
As the Shinsengumi left Kyoto and moved east, he was unable to come to terms with himself and parted ways with his comrades after the battle in Kōshū. To this day, he keeps asking himself if he made the right decision or not at the time.[2]

Abilities
Servants are normally summoned in their prime, but Nagakura Shinpachi possesses two Spirit Origins: one in his old age and the other in his youth. This is because they are extremely paradoxical to one another - neither Spirit Origin can wholly acknowledge or claim that they are the true Nagakura.[2]
Skills
Class Skills
- Mad Enhancement (D+ Rank)
Personal Skills
- Gamushin (A Rank): Nicknamed Gamushara Shinpachi, he has a straightforward, linear mindset who doesn't second-guess himself. Regardless, he is a reckless and audacious fighter who only stops to think after he rushes out and cuts his enemies down.[2]
- Mind's Eye (True) (B Rank)
- Kenbatsu Dochou (C Rank): A destructive sword technique that increases in energy to the verge of exploding, which then violently bursts at the moment of impact. Sword techniques sure are explosive. Although he has mastered the Shindō-Munen style, his true power lies in his reckless fighting style, which earned him the nickname "Gamushin" by his teammates. He is a powerful swordsman who is willing to suffer an injury in order to slaughter his opponents, and is the very embodiment of "lose the battle to win the war." The countless scars on his body are proof of this. "I received this wound for my country. I am proud of it."[2]
Noble Phantasms
Nagakura Shinpachi's Noble Phantasm is Ryuhiken. Nagakura's historical special move was called "Ryūhiken" in which he scraped the enemy's sword upwards from a lower stance while cutting it downwards.
All Shinsengumi members have access to the Noble Phantasms Coat of Oaths, and also all Shinsengumi officers possesses the Noble Phantasms Flag of Sincerity, though which members they summon with it depends on who likes them enough to answer.[1]
