He was the founder of the religious organization called the Way of Peace (Taiping Dao).[2] Eventually
he was also the leader of the Yellow Turban RebellionWP, which was the beginning of China's Three Kingdoms period.
In the Romance of the Three KingdomsWP, it is said that he met an immortal, who handed him three volumes of a book called The Essential Art of Great Peace (Taipingjing), saying, "Make use of this to make the world a better place. However if you misuse it you will undoubtedly receive divine punishment" Through this, Zhang Jue is said to have mastered mystical arts such as controlling the weather.[2]
Afterward, he began to use fúshuǐ to save people and began calling himself "The Great Teacher". Those who admired him and revered his teachings quickly grew in number, and his followers became known as the Yellow Turban Army because they wore yellow cloths around their heads.[2]
In 184 A.D., these followers, tired of the corrupt Han DynastyWP that caused suffering and chaos for the people, finally rose up as a rebel army in an armed insurrection. Zhang Jue proclaimed himself the "General of Heaven" and his younger brothers Zhang Bao and
Zhang Liang the "General of Earth" and "General of the People" respectively.[2]
However, the Yellow Turban Army began to lose cohesion and devolved into violent mobs across various regions. The Han Dynasty, appointing He JinWP as it's General-in-Chief, organized a military campaign to suppress the Yellow Turbans and capture Zhang Jue.[2]
Thanks to the efforts of warriors who would later become central figures in The Romance of the Three Kingdoms such as Sun Jian, Cao Cao and Liu Bei the Yellow Turban Army was steadily defeated across the land.[2]
During the conflict, Zhang Jue died of illness. After his death, his brothers Zhang Bao and Zhang Liang were also killed, and thus the Yellow Turban Rebellion came to its end.[2]

Personality
A good-natured old man. Prefers going out to staying in. Once he sets about his goal of achieving peace throughout the land he becomes an action-oriented shitty old geezer, who doesn't care about the problems he causes.[2]
Zhang Jue is very shrewd and astute. He often criticizes others when they do not think things through, as seen in the Traum Singularity.
"Hoho…? In the world of 500 years later, an empress was born… How good, how good! …How about I ascertain whether her rule was correct or not with these eyes of mine…?"[3]
"You like yellow ribbons, don’t you? Oh, I see, I see... (smiling warmly). By the way, doesn’t that one look a little worn out? I happen to have a new one right here. What do you think? Just think of it as a small gift from this old man. Go on now..."[2]
To make sure the singularity will continue even if it somehow stopped Zhang Jue created duplication of himself while the original stayed behind to guard the entrance to Area 51.
Abilities
Zhang Jue is a Shījiě Xian, a corpse-free immortal being of the lowest level in the Xian realm. Due to being a corpse, he can't receive Magical Energy from his Master. This is why he is forced to create clones of himself during the Traum Singularity. However, to produce duplicates in that manner, he is forced to turn his real body into an automated system incapable of evolving or defending itself.[4]
Sherlock Holmes states that as formidable as Zhang Jue's Noble Phantasm and Spells are, his intelligence is a far greater threat. Due to this, he considers Jue Chaldea's primary target in the Traum Singularity. While Holmes initially considered using some sort of Magecraft to render him unconscious, neutralize him, and then bring him back to the Righteous Realm, ultimately, he decided that they needed to completely eliminate any chance of him using his intellect against them. To accomplish this mission, Holmes requires the help of Xu Fu, another sage arts practitioner.[9]
Combat
Zhang Jue is an excellent leader to his troops. In the Traum Singularity, his troops vary tremenously in terms of quality, and he cannot fill those gaps on his own. As a result, he frequently loses the skirmishes, but he's also quick to retreat to safety when this occurs. In the ongoing war between the three realms, Jue himself never suffered so much as a scratch. Though he seems not to be particularly skilled in personal combat, he makes up for this with sheer adaptability.[9]
When Zhang Jue captured Ritsuka Fujimaru, Sherlock Holmes and Kadoc Zemlupus were forced to retreat. Holmes states that if they fought Zhang Jue, they would be simply throwing their lives away. As long as he was around, it would be next to impossible for them to sneak undetected.[6]
Zhang Jue is known far and wide for his exceptional skill in Taoist arts.[6]
He uses Fangshi Magecraft, though not much.[13]
Yellow Turban Puppet Soldier.
Yellow Turban Puppet Soldier: Zhang Jue uses about one hundred of puppets as Familiars.[11] During the Traum Singularity, he formed a surveillance network with them covering the entire Revenge Realm.[8]
Taoist defenses: Depending on the taoist art he uses, Zhang Jue's defenses can be airtight. Due to this, sniping him would be far too risky and likely to fail even with a first-rate Archer. To assassinate him, performing an ambush is the only sound conclusion.[9]
Cloning technique: Zhang Jue creates clones of himself. He then makes them forget they are duplicates to prevent them from losing their sense of self and disappearing.[10][4]
Xian incantation: Jue's trump card is an incantation that's normally used to request protection from Xians. However, he uses it to transform himself into a godlike being. In this state, he becomes extraordinarily powerful. For example, Bradamante needs to go full defense and receive a boost from Johanna to keep up with him. Sugitani Zenjuubou tries sniping him with a rifle, but the bullets are easily blocked and they are killed by Jue's counterattack right after. Don Quixote uses this opening to weaken him with Triste Suave Alonso Quijano and Bradamante then kills him with Bouclier de Atlante.[12]
Skills
Class Skills
Item Construction (B Rank): Can create magical tools. Particularly skilled in the creation of Yellow Turban Puppet Soldiers and healing via fúshuǐ.[2]
Territory Creation (B Rank): As a mage he can create favorable positions for himself. Allows for the creation of a 'workshop'.[2]
Personal Skills
General of Heaven (B- Rank): The leadership and direction ability necessary to stand above hundreds of thousands of subjects. He also gave his younger brothers Zhang Bao and Zhang Liang the titles of "General of Earth" and "General of the People" respectively. [2] This Skill is analog to Charisma, mainly displayed as military coordination capabilities. The Skill has a minor rank drop due to the effects of the sickness preventing him from fighting until the end and the Yellow Turban Rebellion initially degrading due to internal betrayals.[1]
Great Teacher (A Rank): A skill that shows him as the founder of The Way of Peace, gaining followers and using fúshuǐ to cure plagues. A composite skill combining his talents for folk medicine, his techniques for winning over people as a religious leader, his eloquence and his evangelistic abilities. As all of these skills are interpersonal rather than military it's of higher rank than his first skill.[2]
Way of the Taiping (EX Rank): In the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, it's said that Zhang Jue received a book by this name from an old immortal coming from the southern lands. From this book Zhang Jue learned weather manipulation and various other arts. As he received it he was told "Make use of this to make the world a better place. However if you misuse it you will undoubtedly receive divine punishment".
Noble Phantasm
Zhang Jue's Noble Phantasm is The Azure Sky is Already Dead, the Yellow Sky will Soon Rise. Performs a large-scale anti-army attack with storm, lightning, hail, and fog, among other weapons of the Zhang brothers' weather manipulation sorcery. He can also combine this effect with his Yellow Turban manipulation Spell to mobilize Puppet Soldiers and farmers, allowing him to fight the Han loyalist army face-to-face.[1]
"I thought I'd show off my strengths as a mangaka by drawing lots of different facial expressions. Just as I was thinking "This much is alright, right?" Mélusine was released having a whole lot of different facial expressions and so I thought "Ahhhhhh, if I don't draw even more I'll be overshadowed" and added even more faces. I'm sorry for the trouble I caused. This is also the first time a character I drew gets a voice, so I was incredibly moved. And I never expected to get such an amazing performance for the final ascension, so I actually cried a little. The lines and the voice were absolutely perfect."" (Takeshi Kawaguchi)[2]
