Archetype: Earth (アーキタイプ: アース, Ākitaipu: Āsu?), Class Name MoonCancer (ムーンキャンサー, MūnKyansā?), is a MoonCancer-class Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.
Profile
Identity
Her name is Archetype: Earth, a being known as the 'Original One' in the world of Magecraft. At times, a ruler feared by the vampires. At times, a vampire hopping on the moon's surface like a rabbit. And at other times, a sheltered princess who snuck out to get here! Natural opulence accompanied by pure white innocence. The funny vamp that goes well with the sun has come to celebrate![1]
Described in her profile as a "special guest for Fate/Grand Order's 7th Anniversary," it is unknown if she is recognized within the plot of Fate/Grand Order.[1]

Personality
Archetype: Earth is an individual with a different form and personality in each Ascension. All three forms exist simultaneously and are able to interact with each other at will.
Role
Fate/Grand Order
Archetype: Earth Trial Quest
Archetype Inception: Succession Battle for the New Prime Species
Abilities
Archetype: Earth is the Brain of the Planet, or in other words the planet's soul. She possess a frame on the level of an Alter Ego of Earth.[5] Due to this, she stands at the highest echelon of power in all of TYPE-MOON,[6] and is the strongest being in the setting of Tsukihime and Mahoutsukai no Yoru.[7] She would normally possess Authority over the entire planet, however when summoned as a Servant she is unable to hold as much Authority, being limited to causing phenomena on the scale of great storms with her fingertips and earthquakes with her toes.[8] In the World of Tsukihime the strongest existence of a Celestial Body is known as the Ultimate One, a position that the awakened Arcueid is applicable for. However, until things are settled with Altrouge Brunestud, a being 'that forms the celestial' on the same scale, she cannot be referred to as the 'ONE'.[1] Due to her ability to consciously and intentionally wield her abilities, she is actually superior to her Lumina state.[5]
Combat
Archetype Earth's Sword.
Archetype possess all of her original abilities. In addition to matching her performance to the enemy, she is also skilled at mental interference with her Rainbow Mystic Eyes as well as reconstructing the world with Marble Phantasm. Her immunity to the sun and the ability to regenerate are both functions that occur naturally to her. In both her 1st and 3rd Ascensions, she views battle as a 'competition to create, combine and control different elements'.[1] She wields an unnamed sword in her 1st and 3rd ascensions.
- Regression to the Age of Gods: Archetype Earth possesses her own type of Magic Circuits known as Regression to the Age of Gods. This ability represents the extent at which Arcueid is capable of reproducing Mysteries that existed on Earth before Magic.[9]
- Quality (Rank B): Quality represents "how distant from what Humans are capable of" their pure Mysteries are.[9]
- Quantity (Rank A++): Quantity represents power. The higher the quantity, the greater the degree of influence over the surrounding environment.[9]
- Composition (Before Common Era, pseudo-deified natural phenomenon): Composition represents the era of the "Mystery". In terms of magecraft, it would be equivalent to which Thaumaturgical System they use.[9]
Skills
Class Skills
- Magic Resistance (A+ Rank): Interference techniques created by civilisation are rendered mostly ineffective.[1] As Magecraft and Sacraments are human copies and recreations of things that happen on planet they do almost nothing to Arcueid, the origin of those phenomena. However things that she does not encounter often might have the ability to hurt her, for example curses crafted only from elements of human society. As such only Modern Magecraft and Internet Magecraft might have the capability of hurting her.[10]
- Item Construction (A Rank): True Ancestors have a unique psychic power named Marble Phantasm, which allows them to create anything that spawns from nature. It is essentially an all-powerful printer that can reproduce any natural occurring flora, minerals and geographical features. Human-made items such as chemical compounds or architecture do not fall under this jurisdiction. However, with the greedy notion that 'all items originally came from nature anyway', such things become possible. In such a scenario, the scale and accuracy drops significantly. With that said, something like a whiteboard is child's play.[1]
- Territory Creation (EX Rank): As the entire planet can be considered to be her territory, she excels at synchronizing with Ley Lines. However, the connection is so strong that the weakening of the land is capable of influencing her as well.[1]
- Independent Action (A Rank): Being an incarnated Elemental, she is able to materialise at her target after a one way trip from the Inner Sea of the Planet. When returning to it, her body will be dispersed.[1]
Personal Skills
- Ultimate One (D Rank): Her output and Life Scale increases to become one rank higher than her enemy as a form of backup from the planet. However, as her frame is a Saint Graph instead of the World Egg, this is not exhibited in full. The limit is one or two rank ups for various parameters in battle.[1]
- Rainbow Mystic Eyes (A Rank): The highest rank of Mystic Eye: Rainbow. For a single turn, all enemies will have their movement strongly restricted, while her own attack is increased.[1]
- Breath of the Planet (C Rank): A fundamental ability of the A-Ray (Known as A-Reis in a Lostbelt) True Species. Though it seems as if she's simply taking a deep breath to psych herself up, she's actually absorbing Magical Energy from her surroundings. The generation of internal magical energy and performance increase is comparable to a Dragon Core.[1]
- Funny Vamp (EX Rank): The result of a malfunction that caused her to awaken her own form of love for Humanity. An atmosphere that protects the virtuous, earthlight that blooms in profusion. The entire party will receive great blessings.[1]
- Geothermal Manipulation & Atmospheric Manipulation: To change the surrounding environment into a harsh one. The ground going into high-temperatures alone is enough to impede the activity of life, with all that approaches at the mercy of the atmospheric turbulence, as though a leaf in the wind—in short, she’s a personification of natural disasters. An existence which is earthquakes, typhoons, tsunamis, and the likes, all put together. Archetype: Earth uses all these consciously and intentionally, while Lumina Arcueid can only ever use them unconsciously and reactionarily. They are only activating automatically as biological functions, and cannot be controlled. Princess Arcueid is actually the one who is the superior of the two, given that she can properly use these disasters as weapons, and is able to keep damage to a minimum.[5]
Noble Phantasm
Archetype:Earth's Noble Phantasm is Marble Phantasm.
Forms and Alternate Versions
True Ancestor Princess
The True Ancestor Princess (真祖の姫, Shinso no Hime?)[11], also called 1st Earth (1のアース?), represents the future. She is the original of an ideal world.[1]
Personality
Extroverted, positive and active. As part of the ruthless True Ancestor royalty, she does not exhibit any Human-like emotions. Rather than that of a princess, her demeanor and tone is more befitting of a queen, treating the insolent with no mercy. While she coldly views human culture as being foolish and pathetic, she does not dislike nor deny it. "It is impressive, in its own unique way. Comedies can sometimes be beautiful when taken to extremes." After living for millennia without much change, it has grown easy for new stimuli to get a reaction out of her. Despite seeming morose and unfeeling, she's a funny queen that looks forward to unexpected coincidences.[1]
She describes herself as the "prototype" of what Archetype: Earth was intended to be by the Crimson Moon, and while she is unable to exist as a material entity within Proper Human History she can witness the exploits of her counterparts through dreams. According to her, elements of her mentality can emerge in her past selves if their rationality fades (the implication being that this was the case when Arcueid assumed her Luminous Body form in Ciel's route, which Arcueid herself denies).
Relationships
- Artoria Caster
- "To think that a fairy born from Avalon would become the mould for the Holy Sword that crossed over multiple worlds. That was a good encounter. I don't intend to complain about her performance. …I don't intend to, but isn't she a bit too tomboyish? Why does she rush on her own? Can she not behave herself at a flower garden?"[12]
- Shiki Ryougi (Saber)
- "A hole that leads to the Root. Purpose is born in the vessel of void. There's such a thing as well. A dream resided not in her brain but in her heart. She's primitive, yet beautiful. …She is, but isn't she also dangerous? Why is she swinging a katana? Don't scatter the flower garden!"[12]
- First Hassan
- "An assassin standing in the frontier between the living and the dead. He doesn't make light of Human History. Although there have been precedents."[12]
- Kukulkan
- "Foreign species as she is, it doesn't change the fact that she is an Archetype. She and I are like sister ─── No, should I say that we are like sister cities…? Our interests and preferences are polar opposites, however. I swear that I will never behave in such a happy-go-lucky manner."[12]
Arcueid Brunestud
Archetype: Earth's Second Ascension, also called 2nd Earth (2のアース?), represents the present: the result of a coincidence. She is Arcueid Brunestud from 3 years after a certain route in Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-.[1]
Personality
Extroverted, positive and active. A refreshed personality that doesn't sweat the small stuff. She gained her naive persona after being killed by a certain human, but her abundance of knowledge and rationality as a True Ancestor still remains; the result being an easygoing yet intellectual nature. A dynamic person that will drag around the one she's interested in as much as she pleases. Due to her exceptionally one track mind (by design), even she gets frustrated over her extreme refusal to change a decision she's set on. She wears her emotions on her sleeve, prone to sulking when she loses. With that said, she'll still hold back her objections, albeit reluctantly. She fundamentally enjoys conversation, but will not pry into others. A firm believer in consequentialism, she'll push through any obstacle to achieve the ideal outcome, Human morals and common sense not even entering the equation. Her desire for control and to rule over the things she likes is strong. She may be a self-proclaimed vampire, but she does not suck the blood of humans. Her dislikes are blood, herself sucking blood, Roa, and anyone who'd hurt her lover. She doesn't mind if her lover gets with someone else though, as long as he's not being harmed. With that said... despite it being extremely rare, there's a certain exception that she definitely will not accept. A Funny Vamp that sprung forth from a fateful encounter.[1]
Relationships
- Artoria Pendragon (Saber)
- "The king with the sword's here?! This time I'M the stranger. Alriiight, let's go for the rematch later!"[12]
- Shiki Ryougi (Assassin)
- "Eeh. So you have Mystic Eyes of Death Perception too. But you don't have any Mystic Eye Killer glasses. Uuum, the strength of your body is different? …That said, it sounds more fun to be your rival than your friend. What do you think? Want a fight?"[12]
- Grigori Rasputin
- "He looks like the priest of a church, but… I've never seen a clergyman this shady."[12]
- Shiki Tohno
- "'Speaking purely hypothetically, what if Shiki Tohno was summoned here?' I mean, do you even have to ask?! Whether it's Shiki in a good mood, or Shiki with all kinds of complicated things going on, one thing is clear; both are dangerous killers, okay?! Leave the next fight to me and him, please! I'm going out to battle together with Shiki~!"'[2]
- Ciel
- "Typical Ciel, just popping up like that. I guess you could say we're stuck with each other, huh? You’re a decent fighter at least, and we're both part of the Tsuki gang. It's fun to mess with you, so I guess I could let you join my party."[13]
- Mysterious Executor C.I.E.L
- "No comment."[2]
3rd Earth
Archetype: Earth's Third Ascension, also called 3rd Earth (3のアース?), represents the past: a what-if world in which she was never tempted by Roa's blood.[1]
Personality
Introverted, positive and passive. A form younger than Ascension 1, this princess of the True Ancestors has yet to experience the outer World. While her Human-like emotions remain scarce, they are assuredly beginning to develop. Having been raised as a princess, she isn't particularly eager to speak to the common folk. The insolent are treated with no mercy (as she has not learnt conversation etiquette) but she's not as aggressive as in Ascension 1. Graceful in speech and conduct, her consideration for others, slight though it may be, is evident. She despises how the surface is, but the truth is she just doesn't really understand human culture. A funny princess that will never encounter her fate.[1]
Relationships
- Leonardo da Vinci (Rider)
- "Gran Cavallo. Child of Nature. What a really nice journey. The future you set your eyes on is really dazzling."[12]
- Sherlock Holmes
- "A renowned detective. One who solves mysteries. Certainly, he could be said to be the condensation and result of humans' way of being. Although you seem to be a bit too kind."[12]
- Captain Nemo
- "The sea is a bit unpleasant. It's your forte, Captain Nemo. Would you teach me how to swim next time?"[12]
- BB / BB Cosmos
- "AI... A new humanity born from a body of continuous information? Vital functions without a real or physical body. …I see. With that you'll be able to endure a voyage in space."[12]
- Koyanskaya of Darkness / Koyanskaya of Light
- "A beast born from the land's bloodshed. An Evil of Humanity who, despite being the vessel of a Beast, couldn't become a Beast due to her pride. Such emotion that she rejected her own completion… Did I ever know that much love?"[12]
Development
Creation and Conception
Archetype: Earth was illustrated by Takashi Takeuchi in Fate/Grand Order.[2] Her scenario writer is Kinoko Nasu in Fate/Grand Order.
Arcueid was the most wanted Servant in FamitsuWP's 2019 Fate/Grand Order poll,[14] 2020 poll,[15] 2021 poll,[16] and 2022 poll.[17]
Archetype:Earth orginates from Arcueid Brunestud, a character in Tsukihime, a visual novel by TYPE-MOON, the team that created and writes for Fate/Grand Order. For her appearance in FGO's world, Takashi Takeuchi added FGO's rendition of Arcueid as the Third Ascension character.[18]

« In our character meeting to discuss which Servant should be made playable, Kinoko Nasu proposed we went with Arcueid for the next anniversary. Nasu words: "That said, we shouldn't make the Servant name herself Arcueid. She should go by Archetype:Earth, the name of the Brain of the Planet in TYPE-MOON lore." Takeuchi's response: "Always the teaser, aren't you?" Takeuchi: Most fans believed Arc was going to be released in a Tsukihime event. With Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon- coming out in 2021, they have reasons to expect it. When things like this happen, Nasu can't bring himself to deliver the simple expected choice. He always pulling all stops to add an extra nuance that delivers more than the fans were asking for. I can't understate how much emotion was poured into Archetype:Earth, as she is one of TYPE-MOON's 4 main heroines: Aoko Aozaki, Arcueid Brunestud, Saber (Artoria Pendragon) and Shiki Ryougi. Play the game to find out what kind of Servant Arcueid is in her FGO summon. Arcueid always had her one airheaded side and a form as the progenitor of vampires, which we called Princess Arc. Archetype:Earth takes Princess Arc as the default form, but comes closer to the regular Arcueid with an Ascension. We put pretty everything people would have wanted out of an Arcueid release. It's always hard to design a superior version of a Servant for Ascension changes, and having to one up Princess Arc for this 3rd Ascension was one hell of a challenge. I hope you liked her. » |

Comment from Illustrator
"Arcueid is the main heroine of Tsukihime and a figurehead for TYPE-MOON. We approached her implementation for the anniversary with immense enthusiasm, dedicating significant effort to her design and illustration."
"The elegant dress of Ascension 1, affectionately known as ‘Princess Arc’, was designed with the intention of modernizing her for FGO while preserving the essence of her Tsukihime persona. While being flashy is easy, finding the right balance proved to be a delicate task."
"For Ascension 2, I presented six preliminary sketches to Kinoko Nasu, ranging from simple to battle-ready and even fantastical. Despite acknowledging the potential for stylistic excess, he ultimately selected the design with the most visual impact."
"In Ascension 3, I represented her Luminarification through her flowing hair and her Marble Phantasm with a giant sword, culminating in a regal and orthodox dress aesthetic. The design of her weaponry was entrusted to Shimokoshi." (Takashi Takeuchi)[2]

Class: Berserker
True Name: Archetype:Earth
Gender: Female Body
Alignment: Lawful Chaotic
Origin: Tsukihime
Region: Earth
Height/Weight: About 200 meters when emerging (depending on the CG)
About 100 meters when stabilized (as big or bigger than the tallest building in the city. Adapts to the level of nearby civilization)
※Its weight stays the same no matter the state—being the same as the normal Arcueid. Given that it’s just the lifeforce spilling out from Earth given shape, if pressed to give an answer, I’d say its weight would be the mass of Earth, or something. So, no matter the action it takes, as long as it’s on the surface of Earth, it’s not heavy, and so its weight doesn’t cause any damage to the terrain—meaning, when the Luminary walks, it doesn’t cause the ground to sink in or anything like that. However, this does not apply to man-made objects.
If normal Arcueid is:
Strength: B Endurance: B Agility: B Magic: A Luck: B Noble Phantasm: EX
Then Luminary Arcueid is:
Strength: E Endurance: EX Agility: B Magic: A++ Luck: EX Noble Phantasm: D
Personal Skills
■ Marble Phantasm: D
Though Arcueid normally has this at A, here it has been ranked down to D.
True Ancestors in a Luminary state can only use Marble Phantasm in an approximate manner.
Due to having turned into a Luminary, she cannot construct any detailed fantasies.
■ Event Storage: EX
The ability to conceptually and physically store things that have been cultivated on the surface of Earth.
The confiscation of all creations birthed on the surface of the planet—its Textures.
An ability on par with the Divine Spirits’ so-called ‘Authorities’, though given that it’s a function possessed by the planet, it is less of a skill, and more of a system.
The gravitational field that appears under Arcueid’s feet when she has turned into a Luminary has enough of a reach to store all Textures on Earth.
■ Mana Discharge (Planetary): A
The super version of Mana Discharge—the Breath of the Planet.
What animals know as ‘breathing’. She inhales magical energy (mana) from the atmosphere and then exhales it into the outer world as new magical energy after circulating it through her body—a Mana Cleaner.
This is the reason why the Earth gets filled with high-density mana when the Luminary appears, causing humans to die.
The gravitational field that appears under Arc’s feet when she’s turned into a Luminary has enough of a reach to store all Textures on Earth.
Class Skills (Passives)
■ Luminary: A
Rapid expansion (Inflation) of the Spiritron Core.
A phenomenon more simply called a ‘Luminary’.
(‘Inflation’ is originally terminology from astronomy—it’s what the exponential expansion of the universe that occured after the Big Bang is called) A state of excitation possessed by True Ancestors of the highest grade—their royalty. It’s said to occur as a side-effect when the True Ancestor has by some means had its body completely destroyed.
When Arcueid—a small yet heavy being—loses the body which forms her frame, the compressed magical energy within is released, and the result is that her Lifescale expands (though this is actually a false impression).
Though Arcueid’s consciousness is in the center of this light, as she no longer possesses a body to serve as a wall, she takes a state where her surplus magical energy levels remain, while the sort of self-image she imagines for herself is projected and dispersed. The Association calls this a Spiritron Frame (Lightframe). In other words, this is a natural phenomenon created out of nothing but mental power.
If one carelessly destroys a True Ancestor who still has magical energy in surplus, the energy stored within their body manifests—a retribution mechanism—to become a calamity that destroys human cities.
Arcueid does not cause Inflation when Roa still has part of her power and she’s about to die from maceration, but with her having killed Roa in Ciel Route, her love toward Shiki causes her to bug out—unable to keep suppressing her vampiric urges, she brings about this phenomenon. Correction: she unintentionally brings about this phenomenon.
Luminary Arcueid is about 200 meters when she’s emerging, and about 100 when she’s stabilized her dispersed consciousness and is in her normal state.
— Mystic Eyes (Hyper Wide-Range)
All intelligent beings who Luminary Arc looks at will have their minds paralyzed, either out of fear, or out of worship.
Unless those seen by Luminary Arc have unusually powerful mental strength, both escaping and fighting is infeasible.
— Fantasy Dequantification (Nullification of Normal Attacks)
Because of being in a mental form, only attacks which Arcueid recognizes as ‘oh, this one will suck’ are capable of wounding her.
In addition, being in an energy form means all injuries she receives are instantly restored to normal.
— Geothermal Manipulation & Atmospheric Manipulation
To change the surrounding environment into a harsh one.
Princess Arc from Melty used all these consciously and intentionally, while Luminary Arc can only ever use them unconsciously and reactionarily.
They are only activating automatically as biological functions, and cannot be controlled.
Princess Arc is actually the one who is the superior of the two, given that she can properly use these disasters as weapons, and is able to keep damages to a minimum.
The Luminary is not a form meant for attacking, but for regeneration.
It is nothing more than a necessary procedure for recreating the body of the True Ancestor so they will once again be able to act out their role as one. Therefore, it’s unable to move from the spot where it manifested, no matter what (as there is no need to).
It’s sort of like the cores and surface-level synchrotron radiation quantity of stars.
The convergence of hydrogen and helium through strong gravity leads to planets being pressed together into masses of resources, eventually forming a benign crust after they cool down, while a Luminary is meant to turn into a body after its convergence.
The benefit to having a body goes without saying: the establishment of an ego—a self. Remaining a Luminary means that eventually the consciousness would eventually merge with the Earth itself and then disperse as mere energy.
→ However, in Ciel Route, as Arc couldn’t control her reason/emotions, she also couldn’t cancel her Luminary. The only thing awaiting her at the end of that would be to perish from dispersal.
→ In addition, once she started walking out of jealousy, she gave up on being a chrysalis. Though the Luminary is ultimately a system meant for returning her to normal, once it is employed as an individual lifeform, even Arcueid will start falling apart at the seams, and eventually completely perish.
→ On the other hand… if one was to use the Luminary as a means of birthing a new, stronger individual instead of as a means of returning it to normal, then this would not apply. It would be able to act as a new True Ancestor, while the Arcueid of before would then quite literally disappear.
Lore
— Concerning the suppression of Arcueid's power.
The True Ancestors are the Touch of Earth—something like its immune system.
True Ancestors of the highest grade like Arcueid are one step above that of an immune system—something which would no doubt be appropriate to label as the Alter-Ego of Earth.
(In fact, the True Ancestors were only ever birthed to create a frame on the level of an Alter-Ego of Earth. All True Ancestors outside of Arc were failures. Yet in the True Ancestors’ last days, they succeeded in creating the Brain of the Planet that had been desired in the first place).
However, that such a lifeform would conduct itself in a human body could in itself actually be said to be something abnormal.
If you pack the energy of a celestial object into a tiny human body, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that it would suddenly go out of control.
As long as Arcueid remains active, her output is limited to always be one step above her opponent, but this is not a representation of her sheer power.
This is to protect the body in its function as an output device, and to prevent wasting energy (for the earth).
However, in the case that the limiter of the body is taken away from her, and Arcueid’s mental activity is unabated, the suppression of her power is undone.
The magical energy hidden within her body disperses almost in an explosion, and the limit on her ability to draw energy from the Earth is removed.
This is Inflation—the Inflationary Luminary Phenomenon.
Though normally bound to the planet's interior, being a ‘soul’ (the chances of a celestial object being born in space is practically none. Force of Fate and Spacetime Causality which lets this be established is defined as a soul) meant for prolonged utilization (administration) of its celestial object, once it leaks onto the surface, it causes a system critical error.
That said, True Ancestors almost never enter this state.
The usual True Ancestor’s mind is worn down by having to suppress themselves, so when their body is destroyed, they do not have the mental strength (as it is abated) to recover
Luminaries have manifested in battles with ‘fallen True Ancestors’—those who have succumbed to their own vampiric urges—but in those cases the Luminaries did not emerge on as large a scale as Arcueid did.
“If thou wisheth to exterminate a True Ancestor, thou shalt first wear down its mind”
This is a teaching passed down among the Church. Just as this precept suggests, Executors do not assassinate True Ancestors from the shadows, but instead defeat them in prolonged all-out wars from head-on—or alternatively—push them into self-termination from a lack of magical energy (because if you kill them via a sneak attack, there’s a high chance they’ll turn into a Luminary).
— Concerning the actions of Luminary Arc
Her gigantic size alone makes her powerful, but her actions are not all that showy.
The same goes for when she caught Ciel:
- She slowly reaches out for the astonished Ciel. Ciel, feeling she is in a pinch, tries to move back, but her body is heavy.
- Though Ciel would normally be capable of easily dodging Arc’s hand, she only barely manages. She pushes her body to try to keep going and create some distance, but it doesn’t obey.
- Ciel then notices that just being inside of Arc’s zone of influence causes a litany of debuffs such as… The thinning of the air, the heating of the ground, and what’s more, gravity being kind of weird.
- However, even having noticed this, it’s far too late. Arc enjoys watching Ciel pathetically squirm as she tries to escape. At this point, Ciel is practically done for—sewn into space from being looked at by Arc.
- Ciel can do nothing but watch with despair on her face as Arcueid slowly lowers her hand onto her. Once caught, the spectacle of her dismemberment inside of Arc’s hand begins.
— The dangers brought on by the three zones of influence
Arc has three layers of consciousness in her Luminary model.
3: AMAZING—Extended Consciousness that goes beyond the Surface Consciousness into the outer world.
(AMAZING—with the meaning of ‘awe’—the fascination of the unknown born from amazement and wonder)
It starts from 300 meters outside the Luminary and extends for several kilometers.
Air turbulence originating from the inside of the Surface Consciousness (2) is let loose (spills out) onto the Extended Consciousness, almost like sharp blades.
The turmoil of the harsh winds, magnetic fields and more, mean that the closer one gets to Arcueid, the more dangerous it becomes. It is impossible for a human to enter the zone of influence of her Surface Consciousness (2) unless they’re in a tank.
Though this is already a dangerous state, physically speaking, the more one distances oneself from the Luminary, the less the danger becomes.
Luminary Arc is completely unaware of the lifeforms inside this Extended Consciousness.
Humans who challenge it are like Don Quixote, voluntarily challenging a dragon—voluntarily going off to die.
Here, the Luminary can be seen as a dome of light—or alternatively, as some kind of symbol.
2: AUDIENCE—Surface Consciousness that extends radially for 300 meters diagonally with the Luminary at its center.
(AUDIENCE—not with the meaning of ‘spectators’ or ‘onlookers’, but that of ‘being granted audience’)
Within the 300 meters of the Surface Consciousness, afforestation proceeds far more dramatically.
The Luminary goes from looking like ‘some light thing’ to a human-shaped titan.
The vegetation that covers the ground’s surface are the same primordial plants as known to mankind, but their size and resilience make them almost completely different—basically, they’re huge, almost 10 to 20 times larger than usual.
These clearly display just how tough the vegetation of the Earth was in the past.
No matter how weak and adapted to the current environment of life that nature of modernity may be, it doesn’t change how frightening this primeval (paleozoic) vegetation once was (before the Mesozoic and the Jurassic periods when the dinosaurs lived, there weren’t any plants that could bear flowers, so be careful to not add that).
It gives off the intimidating impression that primeval nature was far more powerful than human civilization is.
Within this zone of influence, the ground is covered in primeval vegetation, making travel by foot almost entirely impossible (though this does not apply to people who are superhuman).
The difference in atmospheric pressure between the ground and the sky (temperature gradients caused by the oxygen consumption of the gigantic vegetation) perturbs the airflow, creating a corridor of harsh wind from the intersection of up- and downdrafts.
Obstructed by the plants, it becomes impossible to move on land, while the air turbulence in the sky makes it impossible to fly particularly well.
And yet, under these kinds of conditions, the automatic counter-attacks performed by the standard rampaging Arc are carried out as well.
This is because once an enemy has entered the Surface Consciousness, they are obviously recognized as such—as an enemy.
If they then by some stroke of bad luck enter Arc’s view, they will be restrained by her Mystic Eyes, at which point they’re doomed.
The automatic counter-attacks become like invisible claws, either cutting the enemy into pieces, or blowing them up into the air like a leaf, toying with them until they die.
Thinking that it's impossible to survive in the sky, one stops on the ground, only to find there is no oxygen left (the gigantic vegetation is sucking all of it up).
As should be evident from all this, the Surface Consciousness is not an environment in which the current mankind could exist.
Luminary Arc takes not a single action, settling the matter simply by recognizing those who enter as her enemy—almost as if they were fruit flies, flying toward their own death.
1: SKINRAIL—Deep Unconsciousness that exists close (within 30 meters) to herself
(SKIN—with the meaning of the skin also being a railing, even if it’s close enough of a distance to touch with others)
In this zone of influence, the visual impairments coming from the turbulent airflow, the distortions of the Luminary’s energy, and so on, disappear, and the Luminary can be seen for real.
Unlike the revolving airflow hell that was the Surface Consciousness, here the atmosphere is stable, with the environment suited for life.
Once something enters this zone of influence, Luminary Arc will—though hesitantly—counter-attack.
Just by pointing her gaze towards them, she can invoke heat waves and gales that blow them away with an impact that’s almost like a hammer.
Luminary Arc herself almost never does things like punch or stomp though.
If they then stop moving after running out of energy, she’ll probably leave them be…
But if they happen to be an enemy she has an interest in, she’ll probably use her Atmospheric Manipulation to bring them up (into the air) before her eyes.
She went to the effort of stretching out her arms so ostentatiously in trying to terrify Ciel because—yes—Ciel was special.
As for Shiki, she stubbornly refused to ever touch him on her own, due to him having touched her—this pretend indifference is thought to have been a snide way for her to get back at him.
And now for some FAQs about the Luminary.
— Can you touch it?
Once it enters a stable state, the Luminary materializes—so yes, it has hit detection.
It feels both like hard stone and flowing water to the touch.
Also, Arc can will parts of it to rarefy, and when she does that, she can pass those through buildings and what-not.
— Since it's light, does that mean it’s hot?
It’s a bit hot, but not enough to get burned.
— How much reason is left in Luminary Arc?
Enough. She doesn’t feel like saying very much, but that doesn’t mean her reason is lost. It’s more that her True Ancestor supernaturality has gotten stronger.
She does talk, but not with her voice, instead sending orders directly to the other party’s brain (telepathy), meaning that her lips don’t move when she speaks.
— What does she look like to humans?
Depends on the situation and how far away they are.
First, when she’s emerging: it’s totally fine if she’s super scary here. I think something to the effect of the demonic terror found in the storyboard is fine.
Then, when she’s stabilized—around the time when she’s caught Ciel and is playing around with her:
When someone is distantly removed from the Luminary—300 meters or more outside her zone of influence—she only looks like light, while if they’re within the 300 meters of her zone of influence, she has a human shape. I think it'd be fine if one could see that there are eye-shaped holes (kind of like cavities) where her mouth, eyes, etc, are supposed to be.
When even closer to the Luminary—30 meters within Arc’s zone of influence—then the light being emitted looks more subdued, with her eyes and mouth (lips) shining with the brilliance of life. In fact, make her look even more beautiful than normal Arcueid.
This is like a perception manipulation effect that the Luminary has against intelligent beings.
Those who look on from afar will get the impression of something terrifyingly unknowable.
While those who have arrived close will get the impression of something beautifully unknowable.
Those who are far away are enemies who are to be killed without being shown the truth.
While those who are close by are allies who are to be given a glimpse of the truth—a truly spiritually divine (religiously speaking) mechanism.Archetype:Earth

[] TYPE-MOON Fes. Official Pamphlet 10th Anniversary Q & A Booklet:
Q: What do the Quality/Quantity/Composition of Regression to the Age of Gods mean in Beowulf's profile? Do Ploys, Arcueid, and Heroic Spirits have such designations? And what would their number be?
Q: What do the Quality/Quantity/Composition of Regression to the Age of Gods mean in Beowulf's profile? Do Ploys, Arcueid, and Heroic Spirits have such designations? And what would their number be?
A: Regression to the Age of Gods represents the extend at which they are capable of reproducing the Mysteries that existed on Earth before True Magic. Consider it to be like that, their own style of Magical Circuits. Quality represents "how distant from what humans are capable of" their pure Mysteries are. Quantity represents power. The higher the quantity, the greater the degree of influence over the surrounding environment. Since Beowulf only has a quantity of C, he can only display his power to an individual, or over a village.
Composition represents the era of the "Mystery". In terms of magecraft, it would be like Rune, Kabbalah, Black Magic and such.
Ploys are not of Age of Gods, so they cannot be assigned a number in Regression to the Age of Gods.
For Arcueid... Princess Arcueid should qualify.
- ↑ Fate/Grand Order - Arcueid Bond 3 Voice Line
