Brunestud of the Crimson Moon (朱い月のブリュンスタッド, Akai Tsuki no Buryunsutaddo?), also called Crimson Moon (朱い月, Akai Tsuki?), is the Ultimate One of the Moon (月のアルテミット・ワン, Tsuki no Arutemitto Wan?), otherwise known as Type-Moon (タイプ・ムーン, Taipu Mūn?).[1]

Profile

Background

Brunestud of the Crimson Moon responded to a call from the collective will of the Earth, Gaia, over four thousand years ago, and made a deal to allow for him to live on the Earth in exchange for protection against human corruption. The Planet, unable to use a mirror to reflect itself, is unable to set its own standards, so only another celestial body is able to understand the death of a celestial body.[2][3] True Ancestors based in his image were created as a natural protective system for the Earth, and were set to return it to its natural state.[3] Brunestud traveled the planet, challenged random beings to defeat him, such as Gransurg Blackmore, who was nothing but an average magus,[4] and the villagers holding Merem Solomon.[5] He also gathered a number of followers, such as Blackmore and Trhvmn Ortenrosse,[4][6] in an attempt to eventually take the Earth as his own kingdom.

In 300 AD,[7] he was defeated by Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg wielding the Second Magic. He tried to pull the Moon to collide with Earth but it was pushed back by Zelretch's Magic, so it was unable to affect the planet. With all of his power, Brunestud did not foresee being defeated by a human, but lost to Zelretch due to being too late in understanding the power of Magic, "a rule outside of the rules."[8]

Tsukihime worlds

Brunestud foresaw that his own life was reaching its end due to having too many enemies, as he has a "world corrosive will" that does not abide by either Gaia or Alaya. He desperately wished to have a vessel that abides by the standards of the world, and planned to use the True Ancestors in preparation for his extermination. They are considered to be Nature Spirit accepted by Gaia, and even though they are considered the enemies of humanity, the subconsciousness of humans both accepts and denies them as keepers of nature, causing them not to be marked as targets of elimination for the Monsters of Alaya. Normally they were only created by the planet out of necessity, but Brunestud decided to teach them how to make their own kind themselves in order to speed up the creation of a proper vessel. He sought various other possibilities when an heir in the form a True Ancestor could not be born, such as the creation of Altrouge Brunestud, a being born between a Dead Apostle and a True Ancestor. While he was destroyed by Zelretch before the creation of a perfect vessel could be realized, he still has a method for revival. His Reality Marble has been left behind to spawn the True Ancestors, allowing them to inherit a "seed" on which he can imbed himself. Its purpose is so that when a True Ancestor reaches the same purity as him and body of his scale, the Reality Marble allow him to take over their bodies through spiritual possession. Michael Roa Valdamjong considers this to be an inefficient method compared to his own means of resurrection, as it is hard for a being on such a scale to be brought into existence.[8]

Altrouge and Arcueid Brunestud, who have both inherited the Brunestud name, are considered to be those closest to reaching the point of being suitable vessels.[9] Arcueid, created naturally by the True Ancestors, a method which Brunestud had given up on at the time, is considered a perfect body especially close in purity as she can summon the Millennium Castle through her Marble Phantasm ability. Altrouge still lacks the right amount of power and she is considered too unstable, though her control over Primate Murder can give her the right to be called a greater monster more powerful than Brunestud himself in a way. While the True Ancestors were his "children" based on him, only he can be considered perfect, while all of them are considered failures. This is the cause of their blood-lust, their corruption upon feasting on humans, and their connection to the moon. Each has a piece of Crimson Moon inside them and a place to accept him, which manifests in Arcueid as a type of alternate personality hiding inside of her consciousness waiting to fuse with its host. It takes the form of Arcueid's initial state before having her hair removed, and it is able to move around the Millennium Castle while she sleeps.[8] It also stays active in her unconsciousness, such as when Shiki Tohno connects to her dreams in Kagetsu Tohya.[10]

It is unable to fuse with her while she sleeps in the castle, as she is not currently in a state to accept him, and admits to Roa that, while identifying itself as Crimson Moon, it is still nothing more than an aspect of it. Every True Ancestor is an incarnation of Crimson Moon, but at the same time, they are totally different beings. The part inside Arcueid is nothing more than a shadow of her that only exists as a hologram that has possibility. It is not yet confirmed as "Crimson Moon", as it cannot become "Crimson Moon" while "Arcueid Brunestud" is still identified as "Arcueid Brunestud." It realizes it itself didn't know exactly where it stood, and states "And to think I was planning to take over." While it wishes for Roa to unbind Arcueid's chains, he speculates that as long as Arcueid is bound in her own chains, that she will eventually give up her name.[8] This personality speaks to Shiki briefly, amazed that humans are such noisy creatures, and that Arcueid can get along with such an "impolite person." It tries to insist that it is separate from Arcueid, that it is only an aspect of her that is separate from her at the same time. Shiki identifies that while it has long hair and speaks with an accent, and even as just an aspect of her, that it still is Arcueid. It is amazed by those words, as someone who would see Crimson Moon as an enemy who will take Arcueid's body is still using words that affirm its existence. Accepting the enemy means that Crimson Moon is near, to which Shiki replies that he will simply take her back by force. While "fighting with Arcueid to save Arcueid" can be considered a contradiction, he states that he will fight it, and save the Arcueid who has been bound by her own chains. It responds to him with "I hope your words will come to be more than just a simple joke" in a tone that seems like an awkward request betraying her noble self.[10]

Fate worlds

In Fate worlds Zelretch was not bitten by one of the Dead Apostle Ancestors and remained a human. Crimson Moon's loyal follower Gransurg Blackmore despaired at his death and allowed himself to be killed by the Holy Church.

Personality

Appearance

His eyes are red, and are described as both "kind" and "scary."

Role

Notes

He is the one who would appear before the last part.[11]

Tsukihime series

In the setting of the original Tsukihime series, Brunestud bit Zeltretch during their fight, transforming him into a Dead Apostle.

Fate/stay night

His battle with Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg is mentioned by Rin Tohsaka in the Heaven's Feel route.[12]

Melty Blood

The equivalent of the Crimson Moon appears in Melty Blood Actress Again as Archetype: Earth, the alternate action ideology hiding inside of Arcueid's consciousness, who takes the appearance of Arcueid's initial state before having her hair removed. She declares that she came to experience the human world for the first time. She shows a great level of power to the point that Riesbyfe Stridberg calls her "the Ultimate One" and Shiki Ryougi recognizes an overwhelming aura flowing from her and can't see her death. Ciel believes that Arcueid managed to awaken her Origin, but Archetype: Earth denies this declaring that they are intrinsically a single being, and that she simply has a very long waking period, as the basis of life for her is far too vast compared to the living organisms that live on the surface.

Abilities

Brunestud is the Cerebral Corpus of the Moon, in other words its Archetype.[13] He also holds the position of Ultimate One of the Moon, a title granted to the strongest being on a celestial body, as such he is the strongest life-form on the Moon, capable of singlehandedly wiping out all living beings on Earth.[14] The appearance, abilities and very thoughts of Archetype: Earth could be called the Crimson Moon.[15] After he vanished, individuals close to him in power and purity started being honored as True Ancestor Royalty with the title of "Brunestud".[16] But in the long history of the True Ancestors, only Arcueid and Altrouge have ever received the name Brunestud.[9][17] While he was defeated in battle by Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg the user of the Second Magic, the battle was close,[18] with the deciding factor being that Brunestud failed to understand the nature of Magic, a rule outside of rules in time before his defeat.[8]

Idea Blood

A curse of the Crimson Moon cast upon the world of man, a curse upon the Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors,[19] that amplifies their abilities and Principle, granting them the power to overturn the the planet's physical laws just by circulating their blood.[20] This also prevents them from opposing him and turns them into enemies of mankind.[21] His pure blood alone is able to turn non-vampiric beings into Ancestors, having turned Caubac Alcatraz into one after noticing his potential.[22]

He is known as the King of Vampires, as all creatures known as Dead Apostles and True Ancestors are descended from him in some way as. He can create Dead Apostles by drinking the blood of a human, having created at least two members of The Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors, Merem Solomon and Caubac, and having had both Blackmore and Ortenrosse become vampires through magical research in order to follow him. Despite the impact the Twenty-seven Ancestors have on the planet, they can be considered nothing more than a footprint that he made on the world.[8]

Combat

Crimson Moon possesses Mystic Eyes that fall under the Noble Color "Rainbow" which even exceeds the "Jewel" ranked Mystic Eyes of petrification. His ultimate Mystic Eyes, which blend and mix all seven colors of the rainbow like a kaleidoscope, are considered to his mark, as the King of the Moon.[23] He also holds a Reality Marble, which contains the Millennium Castle Brunestud.[9] Its purpose is to give him a new body: when a True Ancestor reaches the same purity as him and body of his scale, the Reality Marble allows him to take over their bodies through spiritual possession.[3] He created the castle through Marble Phantasm.[9]

During his battle with Zelretch, he was able to create a mirror image of the moon and drop it towards the planet in an event known as the Moon Fall (月落とし, Tsuki Otoshi?), which forced Zelretch to use a virtually limitless Ether Cannon to push back.[24]

He utlizes wind attacks such as Alt Nagel (アルトネーゲル, Arutonēgeru?, German: "Ancient Nail") which creates a destructive pillar of wind which stretches as far as the heavens, and Alt Schule (アルトシューレ, Arutoshūre?) which creates a vaccum wave with similar reach.[25] In the world of Notes, Crimson Moon wields a Knight Arm[26] called Real of the World (リアル・オブ・ザ・ワールド(真世界), Riaru obu za Wārudo(Ma Sekai)?),[11] which is also the title of the True Ancestors' purpose of restoring the world to its natural state.[27]

    Introduction - Gransurg Blackmore

    The Black Wing Lord.

One of the 27 Dead Apostle Ancestors, who makes his home in Austria.

Real name unknown. His birthplace and name have both been lost for many years. Gransurg and Blackmore are both simply aliases that originated from his circumstances.

A social, great vampire who has many household members and shows up at every large-scale ritual without fail. …Unfortunately, he is only ever shunned by other Ancestors.

Humans who are bitten and have their blood sucked by a vampire become vampires themselves. But in Blackmore’s case, humans who have blood sucked by him morph into monsters with bird heads and wings.

The other Ancestors belittle Blackmore he doesn’t maintain a human form and because his bird-man chimera underlings lack elegance.

(Although in Blackmore’s opinion, the moment the other Apostles chose a human form, they lost all their elegance.)

The title of Black Wing Lord was a sarcastic one, supposed to contrast with White Wing Lord, the title of the current king of the Apostles.

A black-winged beastmaster who resembled yet didn’t resemble the first noble white-winged sovereign ---- that would be how Blackmore was treated in the world of the 27 Ancestors.

On the other hand, as he is a Dead Apostle whose abilities and history equal those of the White Wing Lord, only the very top of the 27 Ancestors can get away with making sarcastic comments to his face.

    Explanation - Lifetime

During his lifetime, he was a magus who worshiped birds as sacred.

He adored the form and inner anatomy of birds, sang praises of them as the true kings of this planet, and lived for the purpose of creating a world (sky) that was easier for them to live in.

In the world of magi, birds are treated as “the carriers of souls”. Setting his biased thinking aside, Gransurg, who made birds the foundation of his thaumaturgy, was an excellent soul carrier.

But. That bias caught the attention of the Crimson Moon. He challenged Gransurg to a battle for fun and defeated him.

Gransurg, who was an average magus and had no special blood or outstanding factors was killed immediately ---- or he would have, if not for a coincidence that saved him at the very last moment.

The Crimson Moon let the coincidence be and let Gransurg go. Instead of using him as a blood pack (Dead Apostle), he ordered Gransurg to live as his personal magus from then on.

As a human, Gransurg honored the dignity of the defeated, and pledged his mind and body to the Crimson Moon, swearing allegiance to him. He decided to walk the path of the Dead Apostle himself.

He became a vampire at the conclusion of his thaumaturgy. “If I am to serve my master, I shall take on a form befitting me.” Thus, he transformed his form into that of a bird.

During the time when he served the Crimson Moon, he was more like a familiar than he was a Dead Apostle, and worked a lot for the sake of the Crimson Moon.

    Explanation - Nevermore

He still served under the Crimson Moon after the 27 Ancestors separated from the True Ancestors, but after the Crimson Moon was dispersed by Zelretch, he became an independent Apostle.

He attacked the castle of Apostle 16 fair and square, annihilating his clan and taking on the name of Blackmore. From the beginning, when the Crimson Moon was alive, he was already recognized as “one of the 27”, but once the other Ancestors acknowledged this name succession, Blackmore finally settled into a title befitting his abilities.

The Reality Marble he used during this raid was Nevermore.

A curtain of death wings covers the universe, swallowing up the moon and the stars. It is a “world of death” of absolute darkness.

    “Be careful.

The birds that dance in this night of mine, are only unforgiving to the dead----”

Declaring this, Blackmore destroyed a single Ancestor and his entire faction.

Not a single drop of blood was shed. The walls, the garden, and even the curtains were completely untouched. But the vampires, numbering over a hundred, were all dead.

    A bird gentleman, vampire Gatchaman.

Just as Merem is a reasonable vampire on the side of both the Dead Apostles and Church, he is a reasonable vampire on the side of both Dead Apostles and magi.

As opposed to his pride as an Ancestor, he fights in order to protect the Crimson Moon’s dignity.

Though this trickster is a supporting character, his abilities rank as top-class among the set of monsters appearing in Tsukihime 2.

  5. [v] Character material - Merem Solomon, p.056-057

    Introduction - Merem Solomon

The Fifth of the Burial Agency. Number 20 of the 27 Dead Apostle Ancestors. In Ciel’s opinion, an annoying senior. Collects treasures from all ages and places.

The reason he affiliates with the Burial Agency is supposedly in order to get closer to the sealed treasures of the Church.

Originally, he was a divine child (planet terminal) that could manifest peoples’ wishes and communicate with animals. His arms and legs were torn off and worshiped in order to prevent him from ever leaving the village.

The reason his limbs were cut off is because of the religious belief that a divine child must not take on a mortal’s form, and also qutie simply to prevent such a convenient tool from escaping.

(His circumstances resemble those of a certain Angra Mainyu, but Merem actually is a divine child.)

Merem would have simply lived the rest of his life as the villagers’ plaything, but was noticed by the Crimson Moon, who was coincidentally passing by.

The Crimson Moon, who thought that “the power to put into shape the wishes of the people” was quite amusing, declared to the villagers that he would slaughter them all at dawn. “If you want to live, then use your wishes to try and kill me,” he said, and the game began.

The villagers’ wishes, “We don’t want to die”, were truly ugly but strong.

Without thinking of the burden on Merem, who manifested them into reality, the villagers kept on imagining “convenient divine beasts” to challenge the Crimson Moon.

Of course, those kinds of beings could never win against the Crimson Moon.

There was no end to the villagers’ wishes, but with only a little time left before daybreak, Merem reached his limit and died. The remaining villagers died, cursing Merem and the Crimson Moon.

    …After that.

When the sun rose above the horizon, the Crimson Moon gave the dead Merem a big fat kiss, and revived him as a Dead Apostle.

“How amusing. You may live as you see fit. You have drawn many pictures of what could replace your arms and legs, correct? The wishes of those others were ugly, but yours were masterpieces.

―――Idols like that would be adequate to bear the burden of being your limbs.”

Entranced by the Crimson Moon’s words, Merem imagined four idols from the religious temple that the villagers built, gave them the power to be his limbs, and stood on the ground like a person for the first time.

Afterwards, he held a kind of adoration towards the Crimson Moon, and became a Dead Apostle who swore his allegiance only to the Crimson Moon --- Brunestud.

After the 27 Ancestors’ separation from the True Ancestors and the Crimson Moon’s demise, it was assumed that he went into reclusion, but for some reason he began to affiliate with their enemy, the Holy Church .

    Introduction: Demonition

Merem’s special power. A first-ranked spiritual evocation power.

It is able to embody others’ wishes, but interestingly enough, not his own. Merem possesses a truly strong power, but can’t do anything by himself. In all senses, he’s like a demon himself.

While it resembles the manifestation of fantasies, Merem’s demon summoning takes the wishes of people as a model, and makes something similar after applying his own dreams.

The demons’ powers are warped by peoples’ images, but the mold itself is done by Merem’s image of it. Also, the magnitude of their power changes based on Merem’s prana input.

Given Merem’s personality, he’s not good at manifesting realistic or calculating demons.

In the end, he’s just a Peter Pan living in a fantasy world. The drawings he’s good at and the fantasies that he wants to draw are “the type of demons that you’d see in a fairy tale”.

    Source: Tsukihime Dokuhon “talk”

He appears in a small episode several years after Tsukihime.

A one-man monster battle. He’s related to King Solomon in name only.

Although it’s just a plan, he’s planned to appear in “the dark six”. …Really, I wonder what kind of story it’ll become…

The genre of modern thaumaturgical theory could no longer be disregarded, and was appended to fill the slot of the lost twelfth faculty.
However, even that it had been appended in the capacity of a twelfth faculty, being as modern magecraft was itself still held in contempt, no governor (Lord) was at this stage yet assigned.

    Brunestud [Term]
Despite being Arcueid's last name, strictly speaking it is actually more like a title. It is possessed by all of the members of True Ancestor royalty.
The Millennium Castle Brunestud where Arcueid had sealed herself away is not her original creation, but was actually created in the past by the most powerful True Ancestor, using marble phantasm. That original lord of Castle Brunestud died long ago, but ever since those True Ancestors capable of forming the castle have been uplifted as royalty. This is why the True Ancestors, who have no concept of hierarchy, nevertheless call Arcueid their princess.
After being tricked by Roa and killing most of the True Ancestors, Arcueid crucified herself on the throne of the castle she materialized herself. A thousand chains stretched from the castle's outer walls to the throne, so that she may seal herself away forever.
In Melty Blood, the Tatari Arcueid materialized the Millennium Castle. Later, in Re-act, it also appeared in her Arc Drive.
Currently, there are only two bloodsuckers with the name of Brunestud: Arcueid and Altrouge.

Please tell us about the origin of the circle's name(^^)

Nasu: It was quite difficult to decide. Someone had said "Isn't Aristoteles good enough?" but I didn't like that personally. This is about the Aristoteles from Note. but that naming for me was a case of youthful indiscretion. Then, since we were going for something related to Note. anyway: "...Actually, about that story, just before the last part Type-Moon's identity will be revealed. Also, the Knight Arm it has is called Real of the World(True World)."

I revealed this material I had been keeping secret, then we decided that in this case Type-Moon would be good.

Q: Is there any relationship between the Moon Cell and the Crimson Moon? Does the Moon Cell exist in universes outside of EXTRA?

A: Moon cell is something that is only in EXTRA, and it does not have anything to do with the Crimson Moon. However, in the world of EXTRA, the "Brain of the Planet" (Archetype Earth's title) who is equivalent to the Crimson Moon should still be living somewhere.

    Aristoteles [Ultimate ONE]
Life forms that came from the other planets.
They were the strongest life forms on their respective planets, and each of them had the power to wipe out all the remaining living beings in this world.
The name Aristoteles was given by the humans, and they have no such things in the first place. The Aristoteles don't fight each other, and they just freely fly around killing things.
Several Aristoteles among them contacted mankind learning about this planet's concept of "knowledge".
After Type-Saturn, who received orders from their respective planets and sent it to the others, got eliminated, they entered a final war with the human race.

Shall We Play Around Some? [Technique name]
    Arcueid's Last Arc.
For just a second, it is possible to catch a glimpse of the vampire princess Arcueid's true power. The phantom that appears behind her back is her original form. Its appearance, abilities, and very thoughts could be called the Crimson Moon.
The inspiration for this technique comes from Kagetsu Tohya. Specifically, the episode where Shiki strayed off into Arcueid's dream and received proper retribution for killing her. Because of that, when this technique is used on Shiki it hits eighteen times.

    Tohsaka Nagato
Family head of the Tohsaka during the original planning of the Holy Grail War. He studied under Zelretch as a mage apprentice and dreamt of attaining the Root through the Holy Grail. Also, he was a Christian despite it being banned in the Japan at that time.

Witness, “Wizard Marshall” Kischua Zelretch Schweinorg
One of the only five True Magicians in the world. Zelretch served as the witness during the creation of the Greater Grail. He is an old man with many nicknames. He has been referred to as “Wizard Marshall”, “(Zelretch ) Of the Jewel”, “Kaleidoscope”, “Old Man Time” and many other names. The 5 phenomenon that cannot be achieved through sorcery or science are called “True Magic”, and those individuals who can invoke these are called “True Magicians”. Zelretch once fought the existence known as “Crimson Moon”. Although emerging victorious (draw?), he paid a heavy price. As a result of this engagement, he became severely aged, and his powers diminished. And it was also at that time, he was bitten by the Crimson Moon and turned into a vampire. His name was entered into the list of “The 27 Dead Apostle Ancestors”, which documents powerful vampires.
The Magic which Zelretch wields is something called “The Second Magic”, and through this Magic he can freely stroll through many parallel worlds. He is a complicated and weird guy with a personality that “rages at evil and laughs at good”. He is a powerful existence who is surprisingly meddlesome in worldly affairs, and frequently sparks conflicts. A troublesome figure indeed.
In the Association, becoming “a pupil of Zelretch” is synonymous to being turned into a complete wreck. Tohsaka Nagato is one of the few rare talented ones that returned without a scratch after becoming the pupil of Zelretch.
Not only a True Magician, but also the pinnacle of magi, this is the “Wizard Marshall” Zelretch. His physique is strong and tough. His demeanour can certainly be called “old but not out”.

  20. [v] Tsukihime Material I - GLOSSARY: Hemonomic Principle, p.100

    Hemonomic Principle
Idea Blood. The quality of the blood that makes the Ancestors what they are, and a foundational commandment etched on their soul.

The Dead Apostles who inherited this blood would always rise up to become Ancestors no matter their rank; Arcueid compared it to a "crown".

On the other hand, a millennium-class foundation is needed for the Hemonomic Principle to function, and even if a Dead Apostle with hundreds of years of activity were to inherit it they would be crushed by that curse. Properly speaking it was not something that Vlov could withstand, but thanks to a technique given to him by a certain Dead Apostle as well as his desire for revenge against that person he managed to retain his sanity until the end.

  21. [v] TYPE-MOON Manuscript - Zelretch Kishur Schweinorg, p.033-035

    Zelretch Kishur Schweinorg

    Overview
The Wizard Marshall. One of the oldest mages, having been active since before the common era.
When the war between Crimson Moon and the Mages Association broke out around 300 AD, the mages were too preoccupied with their own single-player antics to be able to function as an army, so Zelretch took them by the neck and unified them, becoming feared as the Wizard Marshall in the process.
He repelled Crimson Moon, but in the process the #3 of the 27 Dead Apostle Ancestors charged him and sucked his blood, and though he defeated this one too, he was ultimately turned into a Dead Apostle.
Afterward, he was to become mankind’s enemy, unable to oppose Crimson Moon… but he just thought ‘I wasn’t mankind’s ally to begin with—kinda just wanna go retire’, taking the opportunity to disappear from the center stage of magecraft.

After becoming one of the 27 Ancestors, he came to understand Crimson Moon’s views, and began hating him even further.
On the other hand, after comprehending the system behind the 27 Ancestors, he became aware of the other Ancestors’ way of being, and so stopped hating vampires themselves. After all, some of the Ancestors were far more pure in their scholarship compared to the Mages Association’s advocates of pre-established privileges.

    Appearance
From his outward appearance he looks like to be in his 60s. His facial features are Germanic.
He is a stern-looking elder, his gray (originally blond) hair in a dishevelled back sweep, though on account of his youthful expressions, he can also look to be in his fifties.
190 cm tall, well-built, with excellent posture—the very stereotype of an esteemed military-man.
Consult the picture book that came with the Tsukihime anime as a bonus prologue for how his clothes look.

    Personality
    Lawful Good.
    Extroverted, self-assured, proactive.
A thoughtful sage—one who assesses the whole and imagines a bright future. Though he has a scary look that makes others distance themselves from him, he is a man of social justice and has good and honest morals.
However, though he has them, that doesn’t mean he applies them to himself, and is rather a man of freedom who does whatever he likes.
“I’ll force rules upon the Mages Association for the sake of a brighter future, but I never said I’d follow those rules myself” is something he actually follows through with.
He has the same attitude as a grandpa who often laughs as he watches over the life of his mischievous grandchild.
Though he is an observer, he will still butt into arguments (in fact, if someone is about to make a blunder, he will warn them, a smile on his face), and if he realizes things are about to spill over onto him, he will childishly hinder it with full force. That’s the kind of adult he is.
Zelretch generally sees himself as an alumnus who has already graduated from ‘Earth Academy’. Meaning, as long as the academy itself doesn’t go under, he will just warmly watch on from afar at the various problems afflicting it—broad-mindedly thinking something like “I did about the same when I was young”
The highlight of Zelretch’s life was his showdown with Crimson Moon, so everything beyond that he sees as nothing more than ‘the rest of his days’.
Although, that is precisely why he’s very proactive when it comes to assessing the situation surrounding Crimson Moon. One could see it as taking care of the aftermath of his adolescent period. The reason Zelretch headed for the castle of the True Ancestors and blessed the birth of Arcueid was because she was the factor who would take his place in bringing an end to the Crimson Moon problem.

    Manner of Talking
    His first-person pronoun is ‘washi’.
He calls people by their personal name. If he has respect for someone of a more noble personage, he will use their appropriate title of honor—‘princess’, ‘king’ and so forth.
If who he’s talking to is someone he personally likes, he may go as far inadvertently calling them “omae-san”.
He does not use ‘~ja’ or ‘‘~jawai’ or such, at the end of his sentences.
He speaks like a dignified elder, but try to keep in mind that his sentences are a bit youthful here and there.
“I intended to remain youthful forever, but it didn’t quite go as I wanted”
The ideal is to avoid long sentences—make him come through with each individual word.

    Abilities
The father of jewel magecraft—to store magical energy in minerals, stabilize them and use it for various applications in life and for supporting civilization.
Even if we assume that the Earth did not fall into the hands of humanity—remaining in the Age of Gods—he might have still piloted rockets using just his jewels.

The Second Magic concerns the attestation and application of parallel worlds.
By making it possible to travel to parallel worlds, he proved that there is still room for the world to develop in different ways.
Thanks to this, the world’s lifespan has been extended. Even if our history fails, and we destroy ourselves, there might still be others of us out there—this concept granted hope to the planet, which had been in the process of losing its dreams.
Zelretch’s method for travelling through parallel words is a simple one—he transfers himself to a jewel in a different temporal axis.
For example: if he wants to transfer from World A to World B, he will gather jewels in World B until they gather up enough to take Zelretch’s shape, and then Zelretch’s soul will transfer over. In an instant, the jewel golem transforms into Zelretch. At that point, the Zelretch in World A will turn back into its original form as a pile of jewels.
As long as minerals and jewels exist there, he can travel into any world he wishes, but as he only has a single soul, he cannot be active in all of them at once.
He originally travelled with just his physical body, but because of various circumstances he eventually settled for this method as it was the easiest.
In addition, as a small amount of time lag occurs when he travels, he is also capable of a tiny bit of time travel as well.
To answer the question of ‘if he doesn’t travel with his physical body, how could he be a Dead Apostle?’—as someone who has inherited the Hemonomic Principle of one of the 27 Ancestors, he has been corrupted on the soul-level, so it's impossible for him not to be.
Vampirification is not the transformation of the body, but of existence. It’s like if the entry in the Akashic Records that read ‘human’ changed class to ‘Dead Apostle’—to become a vampire in one’s very being.

    Career
One of the oldest mages, having been active since B.C. Also one of King Solomon’s pupils.
After Solomon's death, Zelretch witnessed the end of the Age of Gods with his own eyes, and then disappeared from the center stage.
Afterward, when one of his fellow students (Brissan) was starting up the Mages Association, he helped out in laying its foundations.
As a result, the mages who had not perished became involved in the war against Crimson Moon 200 years later. In this battle, Zelretch transformed from human to Dead Apostle.
He has been observing many different parallel words ever since, detachedly spectating the course of their events.

    Standing

    Attitude toward the Mages Association
Due to his promise with Yumina, and the fact that he is old acquaintances with the headmaster, he shows up now and then to act as an advisor for them. He has accepted the weakening of mage ideals as something that happens. However, if some weakling comes before him and starts going off about their own theories he will beat them and their weak character into shape.
When there are issues concerning Magic, he appears before the Association and delivers fair and just judgment.

    Attitude toward the Holy Church
He does not concern himself with them in the slightest.

    Attitude toward the Dead Apostles
He does not interfere with them as long as they do not cause some particularly large-scale mischief.
He has seen through the mechanisms behind the 27 Ancestors, but has deliberately chosen to quietly observe them. He is tea-drinking companions with the three idiots of Agape, Lovematroos and Caubac. Rumors have it that he becomes like a simple grandpa doting on his grandchild when dealing with Agape.

    Attitude toward the True Ancestors
Zelretch is highly regarded among the True Ancestors as he is one of the most prominent mages in the human world.
Zelretch, on account of having been alive since before the common era, is friendly with the elementals known as the True Ancestors, and often provides them with counsel:
“Kishua, hey, listen. You know that ‘Christianity’ thing humans are doing among each other? What’s that? A new type of magecraft system?
“That’s a detailed Manual to Mankind’s Prosperity. It will one day even turn out to be a best-seller. Well, it’s for the best if you don’t know much about it. You’d probably lose your minds.
“I see, if you say so, then it’s probably true. By the way, I’d like to try a bit of that wine they make in Bourgogne. Could you get some?
    Stuff like this.

    Attitude toward Rin
‘Tohsaka’s descendants sure did well! Alright, there aren’t any Magician seats left, but I will hammer some unreasonably difficult magecraft into you! They’re things I’ve worked out but unfortunately never taught anyone!’ So he goes, a bit happily.
Anyone who is a Magician’s pupil is first started off with a living hell where they might accidentally destroy the universe—like with Aoko from Mahoyo. Although Rin never minded it that much, instead simply tilting her head, wondering if maybe she had just had some kind of tremendously hellish thing shown to her, after which she kept puking for a whole month.

  22. [v] TYPE-MOON Manuscript - Caubac Alcatraz, p.040-041

    Caubac Alcatraz

    Overview
Ranked 27 among the 27 Dead Apostle Ancestors.
His Idea Blood is a "failed product" or perhaps simply "unneeded".
A vampire who was a believer to the church before turning Dead Apostle.
The Crimson Moon made him lose heart shortly before the transition to AD, but the Crimson Moon also saw potential in him and gave him his pure blood, turning him into an Ancestor.
Since then, he has been holed up in an underground cavern lamenting his vampiric transformation, since he was too ashamed to go see his pious companions, not to mention they would kill him on the spot if they saw what he turned into.
Later a lot happened, leading him to build the great labyrinth of Alcatraz.

Somewhen around the year 1000AD, he completed the Triten scripture.
No one saw him ever since.
The Holy Church and the vampire society believe that he built his castle to protect his written truth, the Triten scripture, and when he got that done, a random dimensional distortion turned the castle into some amazing labyrinth not even he can escape.

He turned himself into an inorganic object out of hatred for his body's need to suck blood to extend his life.
He takes the appearance of an ordinary padlock.

In Mahou Tsukai no Hako, it was established that Hibiki is an artificial lifeform (the Triten) who turned human and got lost among the people there.

« Our world was created by the Lord, and its surface is covered in His love. The way humans go hog wild over food and whatnot is also because of Lord's love. The Lord's love is like, super immeasurable to human beings. »

Under the thoughts quoted above, he comprehended the Lord's love and wrote it down. That's what the Triten scripture is.

The punchline here is there on proofread, he realized that he made a model of the universe.
He obviously wasn't trying to create a model of the universe, but that was the final result of what he tried to make.
By reaching the conclusion that the universe is direct proof of the Lord's love, Caubac established he was right and built his labyrinth in order to hide his super ultra awesome treasure literally anyone would desire.
By the way, the labyrinth was made using the same techniques used to make Triten. For that reason, it's constantly expanding at the same speed that the universe expands. Super inescapable.

Now, the following section is about progress caused by the events of Mahou Tsukai no Hako:
Caubac had complete faith in Triten, but he took his eyes away for one moment and Triten disappeared from its storage and went to be human in some Japanese café.
Triten was supposed to be his proof, Triten = the Lord's love, and yet the result of its evolution was a human being!
No true Catholics would see God inside themselves.
Caubac shat himself from shock when he learned about Hibiki.
"In my attempts to prove God is real, I proved that He isn't."

    ※Addendum:
The following thoughts are the reasons why he considers Triten a mistake:
    - We must not see God in ourselves.
    - We must not pray for our own benefit. (Prayers are for the Lord's benefit. It's wrong to pray out of desire for salvation. You pray only for the Lord. Caubac's mindset is the same as Caren's.)
    - The Lord's love is absolute and must never be questioned. Therefore we must not wish for the Lord to exist in any form different from the forms described in the scriptures.
    God's Love = the world.
The fact that we're alive is a manifestation of His love and no matter how much suffering there is in the world, it's all part of grand system of God's deeds (love).

The world is a product of the Lord's thoughts.
Upon closer inspection of the components of the human being (body, mind, and soul), Caubac had the idea that he could prove the Lord's love by replicating all these components in text form.
He then started building his model from all possible accounts, probed into His whole Creation, gave it shape, and ended up with a model of the universe. (He didn't notice it was a model of the universe until it was complete)
And the fact that this universe was functional (even if there was no life in it) was all he needed to go ultra-convinced on his assumption that the Lord's love was real and that it approved his project.
Caubac built his labyrinth to protect this treasure. (Not because he was afraid of it being misused, simply because he was afraid of it being stolen from him)
He believed Triten was the only thing he needed in the whole wide world.
To be fair, that practically completed his purpose as a Dead Apostle as well, leaving him in a complete NEET state. He was right about Triten being the only thing he ever needed.
But imagine the panic when he found out Triten was operating as a human being.
It's the level of shock you get when your computer gets infected by a virus from a porn site.
He made a perfect image of God, and then it turned human.
Would that mean God is human?
That God is made from humans?
    God eventually becomes human?
None of these options were possible. There is no God in humans.
    But Triten became human.
The conclusion here is that human beings were all there was to the universe.
    = God doesn't exist.

After approaching this line of argument, Caubac practically stopped thinking.
His strong will and proneness to delusion kept him on his feet, although in an unmoving state.

« One more time. I need to see Triten one more time. I could have just made a mistake somewhere along the way. Or maybe Triten really is... No, forget that thought. »

And so he started looking for Hibiki. That's the whole backstory for Mahou Tsukai no Hako.

※Completing his "Or maybe Triten really is..." sentence:

« Triten was a model for the universe with no life in it. (The word "life" here refers specifically to intelligent lifeforms capable of self-evolution.)
But in the process of its expansion, the universe birthed lifeforms.
    That is God's true deed.
If Triten, an in-depth inspection of the Lord's love, birthed a human being, that's evidence pointing to the thought that the world is made from the Lord's love.
    I knew I was right!
But... the problem is that by creating Triten, I kinda violated the creed that we mustn't create God. Actually, if a human can create God, then...  »

He got lost in this labyrinth of thought.
All that said, even if Hibiki is indeed Triten (God), Caubac would deny the notion on the logic that "God is an omnipresent essence, not something with a physical presence".

    « God's love exists.
But it can't take a human form.
It can't take a form humans can comprehend.
    He can't be alive. »

Above is an example of cool speech he would to reject Hibiki's nature or pretend he never saw it.
...This is the story of how he ruined his own beliefs and came out of his 2000-year-long battle in total denial, but even after all this, he still prioritized the ideal form of God's love over his own happiness and salvation.

    Noble Colour [Others]
A name for inborn special talents, used within the Association.
Primarily used in reference to those who possess mystic eyes. For instance, the mystic eyes of Tsukihime's Shiki are an example of a Noble Color.
Rider's mystic eyes of petrification fall under the classification of "Jewel", which exceeds even the "Gold" possessed by the highest class of bloodsucker.
Further, beyond Jewel lies "Rainbow". These ultimate mystic eyes, which blend and mix all seven colors of the rainbow like a kaleidoscope, are considered to be the mark of the King of the Moon.

Q: You must tell us the details of the battle between the Crimson Moon and Zelretch at his prime!!

A: You are asking me to divulge such delicious details from my stash of ideas? Mmmm... I have shown some similar scenes in Mahoyo, they would carry a similar vibe. It would be something like, the Crimson Moon dropping a mirror image of the Moon (HERE IT COMES!) versus Zelretch doing something only he was able to do: a virtually limitless Ether Cannon unleashed through a special magic circle ("Magic Square"). If we had five times the budget of Mahoyo, then we may be able to realize such a scene.

  26. [v] Notes - Demonic Sword [knight arms]

    Demonic Sword [knight arms]
The name of the weapon that Knights carry.
All human species born in this world are effected by Gin. Babies born with a large amount of Gin in them shape it as if it's their bones during their lives, and when they reach adulthood, it is laid outside their body. Because it is created with the unanalyzed entity Gin, it is able to cause various effects and its power is strong enough to be considered a weapon.
Only few humans can shape the Demonic Swords, and those who carry a Demonic Sword powerful enough to be used for war are considered as Knights. Only one Demonic Sword exists per Knight.
