Archetype

Archetype (アーキタイプ, Ākitaipu^?) is a word used in the World of Magecraft to refer to two similar, albeit different, concepts. Its meaning varies primarily depending on whether it is being used to describe a Living Planet or a Prime Species.^[1]

Living Planet

The Archetype of a Celestial Body is an Initial Mold (はじまりの形, Hajimari no Katachi^?, lit. "Form of the Beginning"), the Soul that transforms a Planet Egg into a Living Planet. Their stages of development are split into two:^[1]

• Archetype of Creation: The Heart of the Planet.^[1]
• Archetype: Celestial Body: The Cerebral Corpus of the Planet.^[1]

Archetype of Creation

An Archetype of Creation (創造の原型, Sōzō no Genkei^?) is the Soul of a Planet (星の魂, Hoshi no Tamashī^?). It is planted inside a Planet Egg before the egg develops into a Living Planet. Afterward, the Archetype takes root, becoming the Heart of the Celestial Body (天体の心, Tentai no Kokoro^?).^[1] The Archetype is kept in the Inner Sea of the Planet.^[2]

Despite the Archetype of Creation predating the planet's birth, it is not considered its First Form of Life (最初にあった生命, Saisho ni Atta Seimei^?). It is a non-corporeal existence that represents the soul or heart of the planet. As such, it is more akin to a Divine Spirit or Nature Spirit produced by the planet.^[1]

It is unknown how the Archetype of Creation of the planet Earth ties to the Counter Force Gaia: The Will of the Planet. It is unclear whether they are the same entity or if they are related at all.

Kiara's plan in the SE.RA.PH Subcategory Singularity was to fuse with the Earth's brain and become one with the planet.^[3][4]

Despite CHALDEAS being much smaller than Earth, it contains a copy of its soul.^[5][6][7] Thanks to its volume of data and soul composition being identical to Earth's, their Textures were able to be swapped during the Bleaching.^[7]

Archetype: Celestial Body

An Archetype: Celestial Body (アーキタイプ：天体, Ākitaipu: Tentai^?) is an Archetype of Creation that has become a physical lifeform. For this transformation to take place, the Planet's own sapient beings must develop first. Only once that their civilization matures, is the Archetype able to define its own Mold (金型, Kanagata^?).^[1] Furthermore, when this happens, they are able to operate as the Cerebral Corpus of the Planet (星の頭脳体, Hoshi no Zunō-tai^?, localized as "Brain of the Planet") as well.^[8][9][1]

Archetype: Celestial Body are born on the Inner Sea of the Planet, and they inherit the earliest Memories of the Planet (星の記憶, Hoshi no Kioku^?). They continually dream about the things taking place on the planet's surface, so they are regarded as incredible Recorderers of history.^[9] Furthermore, the Archetype is the only being in the World of Magecraft that contains memories from the planet's conception. As a general rule, Human Heroic Spirits all lived in the Cenozoic Era. As such, they can't recall events that happened before they were alive.^[8] The only exception would be someone like Lostbelt Melusine,^[8] who is a Divided Spirit of the Dragon of Albion, a creature just as old as the planet itself.^[10] Finally, when an Archetype: Celestial Body is created, they are dispatched from within the planet to operate as the Sense of Touch of the Planet (星の触覚, Hoshi no Shokkaku^?). In the case of the planet Earth, they get sent from the Inner Sea to another location:^[9]

• World of Tsukihime: Archetype: Earth resides in the Millennium Castle Brunestud.
• South American Lostbelt: Xquic resides in the Mictlān observatory. It is a natural biosphere outside Malla's influence.^[9]

Next Generation's Archetype

The Archetype of an Intelligent Life Form (知性体, Chisei-tai^?) is not an Initial Mold like the Archetype: Celestial Body, but rather, an Initial Image (はじまりの姿, Hajimari no Sugata^?, lit. "Appearance of the Beginning").^[1] In other words, it is the Soul that brings forth a New Star (新星, Shinsei^?, fig. "Newcomer"),^{[1][Note 1]} the Next Generation of Prime Species (次世代の霊長, Jisedai no Reichō^?),^[13] to succeed the previous one.^[1]

An Archetype is synonymous with the Final Prime Species of the Planet (星の最終的な霊長, Hoshi no Saishū-tekina Reichō^?). Due to this, a prime species creating the Next Generation's Archetype (次世代のアーキタイプ^?) causes them to become obsolete in favor of the New Prime Species (新しい霊長, Atarashī Reichō^?). This process is akin to destroying the World, and as such, it was never attempted in Proper Human History.^[13] When this happens, the Prime Species' purpose for existence is complete (and therefore it is no longer considered to be one), and as their final task is that they must awaken the new Archetype by collectively accepting they are no longer the Prime Species, and send the Archetype into space so the cycle can start anew.^[14][15][16]

Likewise, once a species is no longer is the Prime Species, eventually a new Prime Species will rise on the planet to repeat it. However, in Earth's case, Humanity is independent of nature instead of coexisting, receiving the benefits of the planet while damaging it and plundering its resources to achieve longevity that outlast the planet. From these actions, even if the planet doesn't die from us, no new Prime Species shall rise afterwards due to the damage to its "outer skin", something the planet considers an act of evil and causes beings such as the True Ancestors and the Archetype: Earth to hate humanity to their core and the world to act to protect itself from humans.^[17]

A Prime Species making an Archetype may remove their status as Prime Species, but that doesn't necessitate their species demise. If a Prime Species dies out without an Archetype appearing, that isn't a problem. But to rebel against the Prime Species succession when an Archetype is already born is a cardinal sin, hence why the timeline of Moon Dubai was designated to be pruned as the collective unconscious of Mankind was rejecting the very notion that they weren't the Prime Species any longer.^[18][15]

Ultimate One

The Ultimate One (究極の一, Kyūkyoku no Ichi^?) is the position granted to the strongest existence of a celestial body.^[19] It is a position the Archetype: Celestial Body is applicable to,^[19][1] however, they might not be able to get this title if there are other beings of a similar scale present at the time.^[19] This is why Arcueid Brunestud (Remake), Archetype: Earth (Servant), needs to settle her score with Altrouge Brunestud before she can be referred to as the 'ONE'.^[19]
