Parallel WorldsWP (並行世界, Heikō Sekai?, sometimes localized as "Adjacent Worlds" or "Alternate Worlds") refers to divergent timelines that advance in adjacence to one another.
Incidentally, Archimedes' capacity to travel between Parallel Worlds is referred to as Sliding (並行移動, Heikō Idō?).[1]
Characteristics
Parallel Worlds are a type of Compiled Events, Routes that haven't been pruned by the Culling.[citation needed] In gaming terms, a Compiled Event can be considered the "Main Route," as opposed to a Pruned Event, which would be the "Bad Ending."[2] Furthermore, Parallel Worlds are timelines where actions and events that take place in its present can change the world in any number of ways. That proves such possibilities are alive, and that the world exists on the proper axis.[3] Proper Human History is the name given to the Group of Parallel Worlds that advance in adjacence to one another and fall under the Main Trunk of the Tree of Time.[4] Together they constitute the strongest, most stable timelines.[5] While there might be some discrepancies between the Parallel Worlds that form the Main Trunk, their futures are generally the same.[4]
Although most works share a similar foundation and could be said to all be Parallel Worlds to each other, there are actually two major branches of worldlines, the Fate Worlds (Fate世界, Feito Sekai?) and the Tsukihime Worlds (月姫世界, Tsukihime Sekai?). Fate Worlds are based in the "Affirmation of Human History" where Heroic Spirits can be summoned as Servants, and Tsukihime Worlds are based in the "■■■■■■■■ of Human History" where the concept of summoning Heroic Spirits is laughable and where Dead Apostles, the antithesis of Human History, stand at the center of the story. There are also worlds that share elements of both Fate and Tsukihime worlds, but do not clearly favor one side or the other.[6]
Parallel Worlds are normally accessible to others only through the Second Magic.[7][8][9] In the computerized setting of Fate/EXTELLA, Archimedes and Dark Eliza are able to Slide between worlds by way of a System Administrator privilege granted by SE.RA.PH.[1] Meanwhile, Miyamoto Musashi has an unusual condition in which she involuntarily "jumps" between worlds at random thanks to the Bodhisattva Lady Kannon's protection and her Heavenly Eye, which grants her sight into multiple possibilities across "different worlds".[10][11][12] Other, more exotic means of traveling between Parallel Worlds such as Rayshifting[13][14][15] and the Zero Sail also exist,[16][17][18][19] and the Moon Cell seems to have at least a limited ability to deploy its agents to Parallel Worlds if necessary, as in the case of BB traveling to the Grand Order world.[20][21] However, these alternative means are far more limited in the number of Parallel Worlds they can access and require special protocols to be performed safely. Characters of many different settings can interact and gather in Ahnenerbe.[22]
- The stories of Kara no Kyoukai and Tsukihime were originally considered both to be small happenings in the same world.[23] Afterward, due to slight differences in the ages of certain people and differences in the makeup of certain families, they can be thought of as subtly shifted Parallel Worlds.[24]
- The world of Notes takes place in an undetermined future where the world dies while humans continue to live on its body, and its current state involves Crimson Moon.
- Worlds connected to Fate/stay night:
- Fate/Zero is presented as a prequel to stay night, but is actually a subtly different Parallel World per TYPE-MOON Ace Vol. 10.[25]
- Lord El-Melloi II Case Files takes place in the same world as stay night, although it has a greater focus on Magecraft and a different "atmospheric density" due to the influence of the author, Makoto Sanda.[25] The Adventures of Lord El-Melloi II is set several years after Case Files and a version of stay night combining elements of all three routes.[26] For example, Shirou Emiya has followed Rin Tohsaka to London, as in the Unlimited Blade Works route, but Rin claims they are not dating, as in the Fate route. It is also set several years before Kara no Kyoukai: Future Gospel.[27]
- While Fate/school life shares some similarities with Lord El-Melloi II Case Files, they are different world lines.[28]
- The world of Fate/strange Fake is a future possibility, called by Caubac Alcatraz a pseudepigraphonWP (or perhaps the opposite)[29] that is somehow completely different despite having the same terms and reaching the same conclusion as Fate/stay night.[25] From the period where Gilgamesh met Enkidu in ancient Uruk, as their relationship and the end they came to as a subtly different process,[25] through the end of the Fifth Fuyuki Holy Grail War, various incidents follow a different process, but arrive at roughly the same outcome as the main history of stay night[30] (among others, there are some differences around Heracles and parts of the Hundred Years' War,[31] and Helen of Troy was the wife of Agamemnon[32]). The formation of the worldline of strange Fake is the accumulation of those incidents.[30] This world is derived from the timeline of Fate/school life, with strange Fake being closely linked with its history (though it will not go into detail on its version of the Fifth Holy Grail War).[33][30] Despite nominally being a Fate world, it has many elements of a Tsukihime world.
- The world of Fate/Grand Order is a closely related parallel world where 2004 saw the first and only Fuyuki Holy Grail War, instead of the Fifth as in stay night. The war was won by Marisbury Animusphere, who used his wish to gain the resources to found Chaldea Security Organization and activate CHALDEAS.
- The world of Fate/Requiem was the same as the World of Fate/stay night until the Fifth Fuyuki Holy Grail War. 30 Grail Wars were held simultaneously across the globe, creating mass chaos that would snowball into World War III. The eventual winning Master of the conflict, Chitose Manazuru, used her wish to radically change the world.[34]
- The Tsukihime Remake and Mahou Tsukai no Yoru take place in the same parallel world. Clock Tower 2015 shares this world as well, although it concerns themes most closely associated with the World of Fate/Grand Order.[35]
- The world of Fate/type Redline is not directly connected to any other Fate works other than its antecedent gag series, Fate/KOHA-ACE.[36][37] In this world, the Holy Grail Wars were conducted in the Imperial Capital Tokyo of the Empire of Japan in concurrence with World War II. The Third Holy Grail War[38] occured in Shōwa 18 (1943 A.D.), and abruptly ended with the Grail and Servants vanishing.[39] A later Holy Grail War held in Shōwa 20 (1945 A.D.) ended with an enormous explosion in the Imperial Capital, killing 200,000 and leaving enormous craters that permanently altered the coastline.[40] The postwar restorationWP of Japan persists into the 2020s.[41]
Fate/stay night Universe
The three routes of Fate/stay night can be called Adjacent Worlds existing at the same time in some sense. When asked how the routes would appear to Zelretch, Kinoko Nasu stated that Zelretch observing the routes as parallel would make it "true", and that Nasu would prefer that only one route existed instead.[42]
Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA Universe
Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA has portrayed two existing worlds: the main setting, the "World of Illya"; and the parallel "World of Miyu".
- The "World of Illya" has a similar history to Fate/stay night and Fate/Zero, but instead the Fuyuki Grail system is dismantled before the Fourth Holy Grail War can begin. Illya lives as a normal girl until encountering people and Magecraft from the World of Miyu.
- The "World of Miyu" is different to the "World of Illya".
- Pandora hasn't opened Pandora's Box, thus her legend isn't well-known to the people.[43]
- The Ainsworth Holy Grail War operates on a Class Card system and was founded by the Ainsworth, Matou and an unknown family.
- The World has experienced a shift in the axis of the world[44] and the start of the depletion of its magical energy.[45] The world is similar to Notes.
Apocrypha Universe
- Main article: World of Fate/Apocrypha
The world of Fate/Apocrypha is a Parallel World to Fate/stay night where the timeline differs during the Third Holy Grail War. Apocrypha is a world that was the same up to a point, but which is now completely different.[25]
- The Einzbern summoned a Ruler-Class Servant instead of an Avenger-Class.[46]
- The Greater Grail was removed from Fuyuki after the Third Holy Grail War and disappeared for many years.[47]
- Darnic Prestone Yggdmillennia spreads information about the Fuyuki ritual throughout the Magi community, resulting in Subcategory Holy Grail Wars erupting on every continent.[47][48]
Moon Cell Holy Grail War Universe
- Main article: World of Fate/EX
World lines of the Fate/EXTRA series.
The world of the Moon Cell Holy Grail War shares an identical history with Fate/stay night up until a "certain major incident" in the 1970s causes the World's Mana to steadily decline until it completely disappears by the 2030s.[49]
- The "EXTRA" universe is where Fate/EXTRA takes place.
- The "CCC" universe is where Fate/EXTRA CCC takes place.
- Fate/EXTRA CCC Fox Tail
- Fate/EXTELLA
Tsuki no Sango Universe
The world of Tsuki no Sango takes place in approximately the year 3000, when humankind arrived at the peak of its civilization, but is losing its will to keep living.
- It is a world in which the events of Tsukihime didn't take place.[50]
- Unlike the world of "EXTRA", Tsuki no Sango is a degenerated world where Magecraft yet lingers.[50]
Development
Fate/stay night was originally imagined to be set in the same world as Tsukihime before it was decided to split them.[51]

Sliding. A privilege permitted to Archimedes as a System Administrator of SE.RA.PH, which permits the browsing of Quantum Realities (量子世界, Ryōshi Sekai?), and, within such, the authority to enact transportation (移動権限, idō kengen?, lit. "Authority of Transportation").
A capacity that permits movement between Adjacent Realities (並行世界, heikou sekai?).
Originally, the capacity permitted only that browsing be conducted. Even within the domain of SE.RA.PH, the projection of the Consciousness (意識, ishiki?) and the direct transportation of the Corpus (肉体, nikutai?) are categorically impossible.
Per established record, the Corpus is unable to withstand Temporal Retrogression (時間の逆行, Jikan no Gyakkō?) or the bypassing of the Walls of the Worlds (世界附の壁, sekai-fu no kabe?), and collapses if such is attempted.
It was the taint (浸食, shinshoku?, lit. "corrosion / erosion") of the Wandering Star (遊星, Yūsei?) that permitted Archimedes and Dark Eliza to do so; in becoming profaned by the Spiritrons (Cells) of the Wandering Star, their Existential Integrity (存在強度, Sonzai Kyōdo?, lit. "existential strength") was enhanced.
As in the events of the present work, existences such as Archimedes and Dark Eliza were submitted to record by Moon Cell, Sliding will be prospectively disallowed to them as well.
The period of time wherein "he wasn't yet identified as an accomplice to the Wandering Star" was to Archimedes the best opportunity by which to maneuver to as a saboteur -- but even so, his plot came to be foiled.
Incidentally, in the event that Archimedes or Dark Eliza slide into a different world, if there exists a reality similar to World (Route) of destination, their "analogue" in the World of destination is displaced into the similar reality -- merging into the particular existence that is identical to them. (Complicated ...)
If there exists no reality that is similar, a merging into a stronger "self" is enacted.

[] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Compiled Events and Pruned Events [Concept] [T] This is how the concept of parallel worlds operates in the Fate/EX series.
It’s easy to understand if you think of Compiled Events as the “main route,” and Pruned Events as the “bad end” route.
However, Pruned Events are merely worlds where many possibilities have been lost due to excessive specialization and drifting too far from the main route, so they are not necessarily bad or evil routes.
If you were to divide these flows in terms of good and evil, a good flow would be a flow that is stable and most ripe with the possibility to give birth to other branches in the future,” while a bad flow is “a single flow that has become too radical and has no chance of changing its course because it has become a one-way street with nowhere else to go.”
There have been Pruned Events that have progressed further than any world within the Compiled Events, including utopian worlds that were filled with hope and happiness. However, since those outcomes are “complete in and of themselves” or “finished,” there is no need to see them through to the end, and so they are “trimmed” at the stage where the requirements for a utopian world are met.
The universe will not expend energy to create an ending where it already knows what will happen. This is because the universe continues to expand towards a “future” that no one has seen before, that not even a life form of a higher order could predict.
To give an example using the fighting game Melty Blood, the TATARI route is the Compiled Event, while the Tohno household supreme Kohaku route is a Pruned Event, but I digress.『Fate/EX』シリーズにおける並行世界の運営概念。
- ↑ Fate/EXTELLA - Dawn Arc; Chapter 1: Awakening on Thin Ice -Mare Melum, City of Lost Destiny-

[] Fate/EXTELLA material - Encyclopedia: Quantum Timelock [Concept][T] Spiritron record anchoring band[1].
A Quantum Timelock is a metaphysical event, it calculates the average “value” of each parallel world’s events, then locks past events down. A phenomenon that separates what was, and is, from what might be.
Our universe allows for countless possibilities and creates many parallels worlds and histories with different developments.
The universe has a finite amount of energy to spend maintaining each parallel world. Because the universe itself would expire if these realities were to expand without limit, it conserves energy by, excising worlds, at specific intervals, that have veered too far from the strongest, most stable timelines.
The Moon Cell has concluded that the universe we perceive of, which should be unstable, is being stabilized across the present, past, and future by this culling process and by quantum time locks.
The easiest way to visualize the process is to envision time as a giant tree, one that would grow indefinitely if left alone. The excision process is comparable to trimming the unneeded branches and leaving only the trunk of that tree.
History that becomes a part of the “time lock”2 will not change, even if it is affected by the past and future. The incidents that occur during a time lock will, in fact, never change, no matter what happens.
Even if one were to go back in time before the time lock to try and change history, once one reached the time lock, history would be forcefully restored to what was already registered there.
In a universe with quantum time locks, the outcome that is registered in an quantum time lock will not change. A time traveler can only alter the “process” by which it happens, but never the “result.”
For example, imagine that there was a war in Britain, and that the “result” that was locked in afterwards was that Britain was destroyed.
Even if you could manage to travel back in time and affect history so that Britain flourished, the war ended peacefully, and everyone had a happy ending… the moment that history reached the time lock, it would cause whatever “corrections” were necessary to ensure that, despite your efforts, Britain was still destroyed.
You might be able to change the lives of one, two, or perhaps even a handful of people, but you could not change the course of the vast river of human history.
That is the “Quantum Time Lock,” also known as the “Foundation of Human Order” in the world of magecraft.
On the other hand, it could be possible to deny human history from its foundations by destroying a quantum time lock through some great feat. But even with that method the most that could be done is deny human history beyond the destroyed quantum time lock.
The ones who can determine the next coming quantum time lock are those living in the era. Past and future intervention cannot affect the quantum time lock.
Archimedes’ goal in this game is to completely destroy the Moon Cell before the next quantum time lock, leading to a base world that would start from that precondition.
While it is normally not something that could happen, to do that Archimedes continued to shift across worlds.
If Archimedes were to completely shut down the Moon Cell before the setting of the next quantum time lock from his subjective perspective, he would achieve victory.
Although Archimedes emerges victorious on several occasions, he is not able to destroy the Moon Cell in any timeline.
While Archimedes was endeavoring to bring his plans to fruition, the Main Character was able to prove proved the route of a world that was average yet with the most potential to grow, and the quantum time lock was decided.
And just like that, Archimedes’ plans went up in smoke.
By the way, the timeline where the Main Character entered the titan’s cavern with Archimedes and was split into several pieces (right after the start of the main story of EXTELLA) is listed as “Quantum Time Lock A,” while the True Nero route ending is “Quantum Time Lock B.”
No matter what Archimedes does within this timeframe, the final “result” has already been determined.
[1]In the book, the term is printed as 霊子記録固定帯, however in-game (both Extella and FGO) 量子記録固定帯 is used. It is likely that 霊子 (spiritron) instead of 量子 (quantum) in the context of quantum timelock is a typo.
- ↑ The BAMBOO BROOM DIARY - 2017/4/15: Nobunobuno, nobunonobunobu.

Makiri Zolgen
Tohsaka
Tohsaka Nagato
Family head of the Tohsaka during the original planning of the Holy Grail War. He studied under Zelretch as a mage apprentice and dreamt of attaining the Root through the Holy Grail. Also, he was a Christian despite it being banned in the Japan at that time.
Witness, “Wizard Marshall” Kischua Zelretch Schweinorg
One of the only five True Magicians in the world. Zelretch served as the witness during the creation of the Greater Grail. He is an old man with many nicknames. He has been referred to as “Wizard Marshall”, “(Zelretch ) Of the Jewel”, “Kaleidoscope”, “Old Man Time” and many other names. The 5 phenomenon that cannot be achieved through sorcery or science are called “True Magic”, and those individuals who can invoke these are called “True Magicians”. Zelretch once fought the existence known as “Crimson Moon”. Although emerging victorious (draw?), he paid a heavy price. As a result of this engagement, he became severely aged, and his powers diminished. And it was also at that time, he was bitten by the Crimson Moon and turned into a vampire. His name was entered into the list of “The 27 Dead Apostle Ancestors”, which documents powerful vampires.
The Magic which Zelretch wields is something called “The Second Magic”, and through this Magic he can freely stroll through many parallel worlds. He is a complicated and weird guy with a personality that “rages at evil and laughs at good”. He is a powerful existence who is surprisingly meddlesome in worldly affairs, and frequently sparks conflicts. A troublesome figure indeed.
In the Association, becoming “a pupil of Zelretch” is synonymous to being turned into a complete wreck. Tohsaka Nagato is one of the few rare talented ones that returned without a scratch after becoming the pupil of Zelretch.
Not only a True Magician, but also the pinnacle of magi, this is the “Wizard Marshall” Zelretch. His physique is strong and tough. His demeanour can certainly be called “old but not out”.

[] TYPE-MOON Manuscript - Zelretch Kishur Schweinorg, p.033-035 Zelretch Kishur Schweinorg
Overview
The Wizard Marshall. One of the oldest mages, having been active since before the common era.
When the war between Crimson Moon and the Mages Association broke out around 300 AD, the mages were too preoccupied with their own single-player antics to be able to function as an army, so Zelretch took them by the neck and unified them, becoming feared as the Wizard Marshall in the process.
He repelled Crimson Moon, but in the process the #3 of the 27 Dead Apostle Ancestors charged him and sucked his blood, and though he defeated this one too, he was ultimately turned into a Dead Apostle.
Afterward, he was to become mankind’s enemy, unable to oppose Crimson Moon… but he just thought ‘I wasn’t mankind’s ally to begin with—kinda just wanna go retire’, taking the opportunity to disappear from the center stage of magecraft.
After becoming one of the 27 Ancestors, he came to understand Crimson Moon’s views, and began hating him even further.
On the other hand, after comprehending the system behind the 27 Ancestors, he became aware of the other Ancestors’ way of being, and so stopped hating vampires themselves. After all, some of the Ancestors were far more pure in their scholarship compared to the Mages Association’s advocates of pre-established privileges.
Appearance
From his outward appearance he looks like to be in his 60s. His facial features are Germanic.
He is a stern-looking elder, his gray (originally blond) hair in a dishevelled back sweep, though on account of his youthful expressions, he can also look to be in his fifties.
190 cm tall, well-built, with excellent posture—the very stereotype of an esteemed military-man.
Consult the picture book that came with the Tsukihime anime as a bonus prologue for how his clothes look.
Personality
Lawful Good.
Extroverted, self-assured, proactive.
A thoughtful sage—one who assesses the whole and imagines a bright future. Though he has a scary look that makes others distance themselves from him, he is a man of social justice and has good and honest morals.
However, though he has them, that doesn’t mean he applies them to himself, and is rather a man of freedom who does whatever he likes.
“I’ll force rules upon the Mages Association for the sake of a brighter future, but I never said I’d follow those rules myself” is something he actually follows through with.
He has the same attitude as a grandpa who often laughs as he watches over the life of his mischievous grandchild.
Though he is an observer, he will still butt into arguments (in fact, if someone is about to make a blunder, he will warn them, a smile on his face), and if he realizes things are about to spill over onto him, he will childishly hinder it with full force. That’s the kind of adult he is.
Zelretch generally sees himself as an alumnus who has already graduated from ‘Earth Academy’. Meaning, as long as the academy itself doesn’t go under, he will just warmly watch on from afar at the various problems afflicting it—broad-mindedly thinking something like “I did about the same when I was young”
The highlight of Zelretch’s life was his showdown with Crimson Moon, so everything beyond that he sees as nothing more than ‘the rest of his days’.
Although, that is precisely why he’s very proactive when it comes to assessing the situation surrounding Crimson Moon. One could see it as taking care of the aftermath of his adolescent period. The reason Zelretch headed for the castle of the True Ancestors and blessed the birth of Arcueid was because she was the factor who would take his place in bringing an end to the Crimson Moon problem.
Manner of Talking
His first-person pronoun is ‘washi’.
He calls people by their personal name. If he has respect for someone of a more noble personage, he will use their appropriate title of honor—‘princess’, ‘king’ and so forth.
If who he’s talking to is someone he personally likes, he may go as far inadvertently calling them “omae-san”.
He does not use ‘~ja’ or ‘‘~jawai’ or such, at the end of his sentences.
He speaks like a dignified elder, but try to keep in mind that his sentences are a bit youthful here and there.
“I intended to remain youthful forever, but it didn’t quite go as I wanted”
The ideal is to avoid long sentences—make him come through with each individual word.
Abilities
The father of jewel magecraft—to store magical energy in minerals, stabilize them and use it for various applications in life and for supporting civilization.
Even if we assume that the Earth did not fall into the hands of humanity—remaining in the Age of Gods—he might have still piloted rockets using just his jewels.
The Second Magic concerns the attestation and application of parallel worlds.
By making it possible to travel to parallel worlds, he proved that there is still room for the world to develop in different ways.
Thanks to this, the world’s lifespan has been extended. Even if our history fails, and we destroy ourselves, there might still be others of us out there—this concept granted hope to the planet, which had been in the process of losing its dreams.
Zelretch’s method for travelling through parallel words is a simple one—he transfers himself to a jewel in a different temporal axis.
For example: if he wants to transfer from World A to World B, he will gather jewels in World B until they gather up enough to take Zelretch’s shape, and then Zelretch’s soul will transfer over. In an instant, the jewel golem transforms into Zelretch. At that point, the Zelretch in World A will turn back into its original form as a pile of jewels.
As long as minerals and jewels exist there, he can travel into any world he wishes, but as he only has a single soul, he cannot be active in all of them at once.
He originally travelled with just his physical body, but because of various circumstances he eventually settled for this method as it was the easiest.
In addition, as a small amount of time lag occurs when he travels, he is also capable of a tiny bit of time travel as well.
To answer the question of ‘if he doesn’t travel with his physical body, how could he be a Dead Apostle?’—as someone who has inherited the Hemonomic Principle of one of the 27 Ancestors, he has been corrupted on the soul-level, so it's impossible for him not to be.
Vampirification is not the transformation of the body, but of existence. It’s like if the entry in the Akashic Records that read ‘human’ changed class to ‘Dead Apostle’—to become a vampire in one’s very being.
Career
One of the oldest mages, having been active since B.C. Also one of King Solomon’s pupils.
After Solomon's death, Zelretch witnessed the end of the Age of Gods with his own eyes, and then disappeared from the center stage.
Afterward, when one of his fellow students (Brissan) was starting up the Mages Association, he helped out in laying its foundations.
As a result, the mages who had not perished became involved in the war against Crimson Moon 200 years later. In this battle, Zelretch transformed from human to Dead Apostle.
He has been observing many different parallel words ever since, detachedly spectating the course of their events.
Standing
Attitude toward the Mages Association
Due to his promise with Yumina, and the fact that he is old acquaintances with the headmaster, he shows up now and then to act as an advisor for them. He has accepted the weakening of mage ideals as something that happens. However, if some weakling comes before him and starts going off about their own theories he will beat them and their weak character into shape.
When there are issues concerning Magic, he appears before the Association and delivers fair and just judgment.
Attitude toward the Holy Church
He does not concern himself with them in the slightest.
Attitude toward the Dead Apostles
He does not interfere with them as long as they do not cause some particularly large-scale mischief.
He has seen through the mechanisms behind the 27 Ancestors, but has deliberately chosen to quietly observe them. He is tea-drinking companions with the three idiots of Agape, Lovematroos and Caubac. Rumors have it that he becomes like a simple grandpa doting on his grandchild when dealing with Agape.
Attitude toward the True Ancestors
Zelretch is highly regarded among the True Ancestors as he is one of the most prominent mages in the human world.
Zelretch, on account of having been alive since before the common era, is friendly with the elementals known as the True Ancestors, and often provides them with counsel:
“Kishua, hey, listen. You know that ‘Christianity’ thing humans are doing among each other? What’s that? A new type of magecraft system?
“That’s a detailed Manual to Mankind’s Prosperity. It will one day even turn out to be a best-seller. Well, it’s for the best if you don’t know much about it. You’d probably lose your minds.
“I see, if you say so, then it’s probably true. By the way, I’d like to try a bit of that wine they make in Bourgogne. Could you get some?
Stuff like this.
Attitude toward Rin
‘Tohsaka’s descendants sure did well! Alright, there aren’t any Magician seats left, but I will hammer some unreasonably difficult magecraft into you! They’re things I’ve worked out but unfortunately never taught anyone!’ So he goes, a bit happily.
Anyone who is a Magician’s pupil is first started off with a living hell where they might accidentally destroy the universe—like with Aoko from Mahoyo. Although Rin never minded it that much, instead simply tilting her head, wondering if maybe she had just had some kind of tremendously hellish thing shown to her, after which she kept puking for a whole month.
- ↑ Fate/Grand Order - Musashi's Trial Quest: Intruders

A movement method that transforms matter into Pseudo-Spiritrons, and transfers it to arbitrary coordinates.
A time leap technique that has been put into practical use with the cooperation of the Atlas Institute.
While claiming to dispatch the Master to different eras through Spiritron transfer, in reality it’s a method to where they are “projected and observed” after having become Spiritron data. Its realization was regarded as dangerous by the Mage’s Association since it can be used like a time machine.
Its completion was criticized as impossible because theories aside, the technology could not catch up, but Marisbury, representing a research facility of the Quantum Mechanics department, invested a huge amount of money and negotiated with the American government, received a supply of materials and engineers, and finally managed to complete it. The experiment is subject to the permission of the United Nations (although mostly to the Mage’s Association). The time of the investigation of Singularity F was also the first use of Rayshift.
A magical accelerator rather than a quantum accelerator was installed around the walls of the outer periphery of Chaldea, and it was supposed to be spun at maximum output to convert 48 Masters into Spiritrons and Rayshift them, but……
(Conversion of one Master with a compact accelerator is also possible)
The Rayshifting process:
- Entrance into the Coffin. Examination and definition of every parameter of the Master candidate.
- Creation through magecraft of a “Living but Dead Box”. Placement of the Master’ existence into an “unknown” state.
- Beginning of separation into Pseudo-Spiritrons. A supercomputer is fully mobilized to calculate the deviation of history and causality caused by the absence of the Master, their body and fate, and to apply a provisional numerical formula to correct history properly. It consumes a huge amount of electricity and magical power, but that’s covered by the accelerator.
- Usage of the data from the human history map CHALDEAS, which are guaranteed up to 100 years ago, and confirmation of the status of the destination of the Rayshift. Beginning of Spiritron projection.
- Complete isolation of the Coffin and the outside world once all the Spiritrons of the master have fully been projected in the destination of the Rayshift. The inside of the Coffin will be defined as nothing.
- The Master will materialize in the era of the Rayshift. Usually falling from the sky.
End.
- Entrance into the Coffin. Examination and definition of every parameter of the Master candidate.

Staff Roundtable - The Second Night Speaking of Tohno, did you ever think of doing a crossover with 「Kara no Kyoukai」?
Nasu: No, even though the word rules (special powers/magic) are the same. They're both just small happenings in a single world. That's why the first main character I made is Aoko-san. - ↑
[] December of 2001 Avz:
It's the first post on the spoiler boards!
I'm asking this here since it's a bit of a spoiler.
The complete edition of Kara no Kyōkai coming out at the winter comiket is going to have errors corrected,
but does that include changes to the setting as well?
(For example, in Tsukihime the succession of the Fujou main family is done through the passing down of techniques,
while in Kyōkai it is determined by blood.)
Kinoko:
I'll answer that!
Regarding the Fujou, the setting isn't quite the same.
Though Rakkyo and Tsukihime have a lot of points in common, there are a few tiny differences in the details.
One of those is the Fujou. In reality they're actually ESP users like the Asagami, Ryougi, and Nanaya. But in Rakkyo they are a magi lineage.
Other than that... oh, right, there's Aoko's age. If Rakkyo and Tsukihime were the same world then Aoko would only be a little bit older than Tohno Shiki. The Aoko in Rakkyo has not yet gained the title of "Miss Blue", and is still training in Misaki Town.
It's probably best to think of it as subtly shifted parallel worlds.Avz:

Q: Are the three routes of "Fate/stay night" parallel worlds existing at the same time? I was curious since I was how it would look to Zelretch.
Q: Are the three routes of "Fate/stay night" parallel worlds existing at the same time? I was curious since I was how it would look to Zelretch.
A: They're parallel... sort of. But if Zelretch was observing, it'd become true, and my feelings on the matter is that I'd rather two routes disappear if one was true.
If all of these became possible at the same time, the other routes would become meaningless.Q:「Fate/stay night」
- ↑ Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA 3rei!! - Chapter 44: "The Problematic Truth"

[] Fate/Apocrypha material - Encyclopedia: Subcategory Holy Grail Wars [Others], p.154-155 [T] Subspecies Holy Grail Wars [Others]
The small Holy Grail Wars that have been recklessly happening everywhere since several decades ago in the “Apocrypha” world. Varying from those with only two Servants to wars with five Servants which, though inferior in scale to Fuyuki, are still considerably large conflicts, all kinds of Holy Grails Wars are brightly, happily and violently taken place throughout the world.
This is because, after the Third Holy Grail War, Darnic disseminated information on the structure of the Holy Grail War, which normally should have been concealed at all costs, to other magi in order to forestall them from searching for the Holy Grail that he had stolen.
Even for magi who lament over how the Root is just a distant fairy tale, once they learned that they could take a step… or perhaps even just half a step towards reaching it through this ritual, they ended up desperately creating Holy Grails of their own.
Broadly speaking, out of a hundred Holy Grails made, ninety-five of them get stalled due to setbacks in the midst of constructing them, and out of the remaining finished five Grails, four end up incomplete and explode while prana is poured into them. The last remaining Grail out of them all manages to work properly, but the ritual is degraded in quality and cannot be compared to the one in Fuyuki.
However, with the prana accumulated in the Grail, it still becomes possible to bring about miracles of varying scale. Being summoned by such a shoddy Holy Grail is a real nuisance to the Servants, though. There are many Servants who refuse the summoning or rebel and kill their Masters.
Amongst young magi, something like a “Holy Grail War Walkthrough Wiki” has been secretly created and is used to outwit obstinate old magi by mustering their intelligence… maybe. The early period right after the subspecies Holy Grails began was called the “golden era of Assassins”, where Assassins (Hassan-i-Sabbah) were a great menace (because, on top of their prana consumption being low, killing Masters was far easier than battles between Servants, so it might have seemed like easier work in its own way), but by the middle period, countermeasures against them were naturally taken and the Hassan boom fell into decline. It’s apparently a common sight for Masters who enjoy having their Servants fight each other to easily team up just as Assassin is confirmed to be summoned.
It is quite common in the subspecies Holy Grail Wars for the Servants to be unable to display their full power as much as in Fuyuki depending on the quality of the leylines, and, since the advantages and disadvantages of each Servant also becomes clear according to their level of fame in the land where a war takes place, it often turns into a competition to obtain the catalysts of local Servants.
For instance, a subspecies Holy Grail War in Greece would create a struggle for a “catalyst of Heracles”, and the magi who managed to get it would win… In other words, the whole thing seems to go full circle and turn into a simple battle of magecraft between magi in the end. As a cute one-time divorcee magus said, “Rather, the whole idea of fighting that macho guy in his homeland is seriously ridiculous in the first place.”
After the use of Heracles was forbidden as a result of that, the next war turned into a competition over the catalyst of Achilles, and so there has never been a proper Holy Grail War held in Greece. There exist terrible tales of Holy Grail Wars like this.
