Subspecies Singularity I: Shinjuku
The Phantom is a member of the Phantom Demon Alliance. Complying with Christine’s demands for an audience, He captured and converted humans into automatons called Coloratura. Eventually the Coloraturas come to number 300; 200 in the Phantom and Christine’s territory of Kabukicho; 100 patrolling Shinjuku. The patrolling Coloraturas also tasked with abducting humans to covert into more Coloraturas.
The Phantom and Christine ambush Ritsuka and James Moriarty shortly after Ritsuka’s arrival. Moriarty offends the Phantom by referring to Christine as a monster. Christine’s fury elates the Phantom, calling it even hotter and more beautiful than the sun. He declares he will tear Ritsuka and Moriarty apart, and put them back together to teach them a lesson. Moriarty however destroys a nearby gas station to distract them so he and Ritsuka can escape.[3]
Later in Kabukicho, the Phantom is converting recently captured humans into Coloratura as Christine ordered, declaring her song will be heard throughout all of Shinjuku. He and Christine encounter Ritsuka and Moriarty after Moriarty’s Coloratura bomb decimates Kabukicho. The two singers are distraught to see their Coloraturas dying. Moriarty calls Christine a fake, prompting the Phantom to reveal Christine is a Phantom fused into a doll. For destroying her past dreams as a singer, he is now her subordinate. He declares their audience is too small and their accolades too few, stating Christine’s voice deserves to be heard by all for years to come. The singers then fight Ritsuka and Moriarty. After they’re defeated, the Phantom confirms Christine’s suspicions that she was summoned to sing. With her role now over, he thanks her, and calls her more beautiful than anyone. Christine disappears, calling him a liar, which he confirms. He confesses his love for her was tarnished long ago, but he pretended not to notice and continued to indulge in Shinjuku’s desires. He then tells Ritsuka the Alliance’s other members also seek desire; one seeking to exacerbate; one seeking glory. He wonders what Moriarty desires, nearly revealing the latter as a fellow member. EMIYA Alter however activates a bomb inside him to kill him before he can.[4]
Abilities
During the Shinjuku Phantom Incident, Eric displayed a remarkable aptitude for engineering and puppet-craft. He maintained an army of around three hundred Coloraturas automatons, two hundred of which were programmed to always stand guard around Phantom's base, the Shinjuku Opera House, while the remaining one hundred would patrol around Shinjuku, kidnapping anyone they come across. This was how Eric would replenish his army. Those who were captured by the puppets would be brought back to the opera house alive, allowing Phantom to extract and lobotomize their still living nervous system to then transfer it over to a puppet body, creating completely loyal, and mindless slaves. Should any of the Coloraturas get destroyed, they are then immediately replaced by the puppets in reserve to maintain their numbers. All of this effort however, ultimately served another purpose. Having hijacked the Shinjuku P/A system, the Coloraturas are slaved to Christine and her performances that broadcasted over the P/A system. They are her eternal audience, programmed to admire her performances and periodically give standing ovation to her.
