LagerthaWP (ラゲルサ?) is a figure from the Nordic Ragnar Lodbrok’s Saga.
Profile
Background
Lagertha is a skjaldmærWP (shield-maiden), a woman warrior, and the ex-wife of Ragnar Lodbrok. Her name is known far and wide, a fame on par with the Amazons of Greece. She takes great pride in sharing the title of skjaldmær with the Valkyries that once soared through the skies during the Age of Gods.[1]
Marriage held no appeal to Lagertha. She would send her suitors out on absurd challenges, knowing they would fail. Ragnar was the only one who ever succeeded;[1] she sent bears and wolves after Ragnar to test him.[2] With Ragnar's success the two were married, but Lagertha eventually left to embrace the path of the warrior, as she did not want to stay at home as a housewife.[1]
Lagertha and Ragnar parted ways, and Lagertha embarked on a journey to distant lands. There she met another man, the chieftain of a clan, and married him as her second husband, but eventually he proved to be a weakling and she left him too. Since then, Lagertha became the chieftain of her own clan.[1]
Appearance
Personality
She has a realist personality and is more knowledgeable and experienced with ancient Mystery than Ragnar.[3] She is terrifying when angered.[2] While assertive and bold, when she learned the truth about Aslaug, her eyes filled with the wonder of a young girl listening to stories of Gods and Heroes.
Role
Fate:Lost Einherjar
Having been told by Bragi that Ragnar planned to marry another woman, Lagertha came to see her for herself. She became fond of Aslaug while talking with her over dinner. When Bragi told her that Aslaug was the daughter of the legendary heroes Sigurd and Brynhildr, Lagertha's warrior expression was replaced with wide-eyed childlike wonder.[1]

Lagertha's concept art
Lagertha is designed by Shirow Miwa. Miwa had previously worked for Type-Moon as the illustrator for Sigurd and Brynhildr in Fate/Grand Order, but he had also secretly designed other Norse characters including Lagertha as fan art on his own time, not as something Type-Moon asked him to do.[4] He eventually submitted the designs for approval after seeing how Columbus Lily had also started as fan art,[5] which led to the development of Fate:Lost Einherjar and the designs being canonized.[6]
The Romancia:Aurora art book stated that Lagertha was Ragnar's first wife, but in Fate:Lost Einherjar itself she is called his second wife. Romancia:Aurora was written before Fate:Lost Einherjar's setting was completely finalized, so some things in it were changed by the time Lost Einherjar was published.[7]
