BritomartWP (Alter) (ブリトマート・オルタ, Buritomāto Oruta?), Class Name Avenger (アヴェンジャー, Avenjā?), is an Avenger-class Servant summoned during the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.
Profile
Identity
Contrary to what her appearance may suggest, she is not an Alter version of Britomart but rather she is the original, first-generation Britomart.[2]
A knight that appeared in the epic poem The Faerie QueeneWP, a friend of King Arthur during his training days, and a companion on his adventures. A master of the spear. An adventure unfolded before her as she set out to find her destined partner.[3]
Once upon a time, the Faerie Knight Britomart went on an adventure. She and the young knight Arthur formed a bond after dueling, battled against Giants and magi, and even rescued a maiden. Eventually Britomart came across her soulmate, Artegall, and soon married him after many adventures. Afterwards, she rejoined the knight Arthur. Together, under the command of the Faerie Queen Gloriana, they overthrew the tyrant Grantorto.
The knightess Britomart described in the knightly epic The Faerie Queen was human until the end, but in this work she has the background of...
"After her journey, she was summoned forth as a fairy by the Faerie Queen Gloriana".
In other words, the Faerie Knight Britomart completed her journey, was metamorphized into a Faerie Knight, found love with her destined partner Artegall, and gave birth to her destined, beloved children. One of them being Aurelius Conanus, a later king of the Britons chronicled in the Historia Regum BritanniaeWP. The other being the Britomart that inherited her name, as a natural fairy knight born from a fae mother.[3]
At some point in time, she gave her daughter the magical spear, Penetrate Bladud.[3]
Appearance
She is visually identical to her daughter when the latter is equipped with Fortress Angela. In the Id TVCM, sections of her armor and sword are both illuminated with a magenta glow.
It is said that her daughter resembles her in her youth.[3]
Personality
Role
Fate/Grand Order
Id: Irreversible Waste Hole
Britomart Alter acts as the First Trial of the Inescapable Gehenna, being summoned at the Pseudo Tokyo's train station to challenge Fujimaru.
Other appearances
In Fate/Prototype: Fragments of Sky Silver, Saber recalls Britomart during his first fight with Lancer, contrasting their fighting styles.[4]
Abilities
Britomart Alter is noted to be potentially slowed when moving on the ground due to her heavy armor, though it may also be due to her lack urgency when pursuing Fujimaru.[2] Whatever the case, the immense weight does not impede her ability to fly at absurdly high velocity, producing jet noise while doing so.[5] She can exploit these two factors in order to deliver a powerful ramming attack that would have crushed Salieri from its pressure had he and Jeanne Alter not pushed her away.[5] She boasts incredible endurance due to her armor and Blessing of the Earth, taking on consecutive battles against the combined forces of Jeanne Alter, Salieri, Fujimaru, and Kagekiyo while remaining essentially undamaged. Even without her Tradition Protection, she is durable enough to survive a direct strike from Kagekiyo's Noble Phantasm, only suffering a slight crack to her armor's breastplate. She is only put down after Jeanne Alter immediately followed up the assault by driving her hand into the opening made by Kagekiyo, activating her own Noble Phantasm point-blank and causing the Knight of Hatred to explode.[5]
In Id, Britomart Alter was also capable summoning and commanding legions of warriors called Death Knights, manifesting them through hands of blue flame.[2] Alongside these soldiers she also had command of several Faerie Pikeman.
In life, Britomart was considered a master of the spear.[3]
