Vincent Willem van GoghWP (フィンセント・ヴィレム・ファン・ゴッホWP, Finsento Viremu fan Gohho?) is an European painter from the 19th Century.
Profile
Background
Vincent's work received high praise after death and has lovers all over the world. In historical fact, he is, of course, a man, as evidenced by his name, portraiture and a few photographs.[1]
The historical Vincent van Gogh was born in 1853 to a Dutch minister's family. Although he hoped to become an evangelist after working as a painter and a bookstore clerk, he was frustrated and aspired to become a painter. After studying the Hague School, he was influenced by the Impressionists and acquired his own style of painting.[1]
After moving to Arles, France, he worked on a number of masterpieces such as "SunflowersWP", but suffered from a worsening relationship with Gauguin who lived with him, causing an incident in which he cut off one of his ears. After that, he spent all his time drawing while having a mental illness attack, and killed himself in 1890 at the young age of 37.[1] The reason for behind this is that he learned that his painting De Sterrennacht inadvertently invited an evil god to Earth. Van Gogh sacrificed himself to prevent their descent.[2]
Personality
While regarded by some as a mad artist, deep down, he was a man of strong convictions. Though he may well have yearned for a connection with the gods beyond the stars, he would never willingly be follow their plans once he learned they were evil in nature. After learning his painting De Sterrennacht inadvertently invited an evil god to Earth, he took his life.[2]
Role
Fate/Grand Order
The Foreigner-class Van Gogh appearing in Fate/Grand Order is an illegal Saint Graph brought into existence in Void Space somehow by the entity that forms the "Evil God of the Flowers". Its identity is a patchwork Heroic Spirit comprising Clytie from Greek mythos, the painter Gogh's memories and artistic talent, and various things such as compatibility with Void Space and the vanguard of the evil god itself.[1]
The composition of the spirit origin is as follows:[1]
- 80% Clytie's body and mind[1]
- 5% Painter Gogh's memories and artistic skills[1]
- 15% "Black box" of Imaginary Numbers[1]
- Main article: Van Gogh
Abilities
As a Heroic Spirit, Vincent van Gogh is still bound by the same restriction that caused his death. He will always take his own life before ever succumbing to madness, that is, the Outer Gods' influence.[2]
Noble Phantasms
Vincent's Noble Phantasms are De Sterrennacht, Het Gele Huis, and Le Père Tanguy.
