Tepeu (テペウ?) is a deinos resident of Tlatlauhqui in the South American Lostbelt in Fate/Grand Order.
Profile
Background
Tepeu used to live in Chichen Itza like most deinos, but his unique way of thinking made him an outcast with his people. In addition, he avoided death at the hands of the many assassins sent by the priest Vucub. Due to this near-death experience, Tepeu would gain the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception. Although he is capable of combat, Tepeu will assume a non-combatant role in order to preventing himself from killing due to his abilities. Tepeu would eventually abandon his home and move into a cave in Tlatlauhqui far from Chichen Itza, isolating himself from the rest of the deinos community. He considers his kind to be the humanity of the South American Lostbelt. While travelling to their destination, Tepeu mentions to Chaldea that although the deinos are considered the strongest creatures in their lostbelt, the Ocelomeh was still able to hunt down their race through despicable ways.
Appearance
Tepeu sometimes wear spectacles, and wears a saddle like cloth when he ventures out to the outside with Chaldea.
Personality
Tepeu is very intelligent, able to discern certain facts from minor details, and knows a great many things. More recently, though, he has become curious about the Proper Human History ever since the Chaldean told him about it. It was also thanks to the Chaldean that he knows Chaldea seeks to destroy his world, yet he is accepting of this fact as his kind accept all worlds must eventually come to an end. Ninety years old in human terms, he has lived a long fulfilling life and does not mind if he were to vanish anytime soon.
Tepeu is also very benevolent and kind, as he wishes not to use his ability to kill his enemies, despite having his life in danger.
Being one of the more intelligent individuals in the South American Lostbelt, he is the first one in various Lostbelts to actively seek knowledge by consulting Chaldea about the history of mankind and their various evolution paths while they are traveling. This could be debated as the one of the main reasons why the deino is so amicable to Chaldea despite them being enemies.
Tepeu was later revealed to have loved Xquic, spending years to find a way to release her from her domain. When all his attempts ended in failure he was greatly disappointed and so decided to seclude himself in the cave where he was found by the Chaldeans. He was quick to join their cause and ever eager to hear their stories about their world. Tepeu is putting logic above emotions and was visibly surprised by the marine's sadness for wanting to participate at the xoqqer tournament. He was shocked at the realization of a society focused on the self. Nevertheless Tepeu felt the loss of Marine 4 greatly. He regretted his inability to save him. This motivates him to try harder to protect his companions later on.
Although it's unknown whether he has heard of the term Magecraft in his entire life, his superior intelligence enabled him to learn Gradation Air just from some instructions from Nemo Professor when Fujimaru and Mashu managed to regroup with the rest of the Chaldea staff at the wrecked Storm Border's resting location. He later used it to heal an unconscious Captain Nemo. After Nemo awakens seconds after treatment, Kadoc who is in the same jail cell seems amazed, praises Tepeu for performing such a refined spell.
Role
Fate/Grand Order
Nahui Mictlan: Golden Sea of Trees
Tepeu plays the role of a tour guide to the Chaldea survivors in Chichen Itza, while providing support along the way.[2][3]
Abilities
With some instruction from Nemo Professor, Tepeu managed to use Projection Magecraft and use the spell Gradation Air, Nemo Origin in order to heal Captain Nemo. Kadoc, who was knowledgeable of Magecraft despite his own limitations of it, was amazed at how refined the spell was, despite the fact that Tepeu had (apparently) never known what Magecraft was before meeting with Chaldea,
His weapon of choice is a sub-machine gun.
It is later revealed that Tepeu possesses Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, received from his research into the "Concept of Death". He never had the chance to use it ever since he learned it. But when ORT finally descends, he attacks ORT with said ability despite knowing he stands no chance against the abomination, but, as Beni-enma Alter herself had imbued ORT with the concept of death earlier, he still managed to deal sufficient damage to the abomination before he was ripped to pieces. Before Tepeu died, he was happy he had the chance to join the war effort against ORT with his Chaldea friends and fellow deinos in Nahui Mictlan.
