Fate/Grand Order
Within the divergent history of the 1783 AD North American Singularity, the solider is one of the many fighting Medb's Celtic army. Shortly after Ritsuka Fujimaru and Mash Kyrielight rayshift to the Singularity and arrive on a battlefield, the soldier pushes Ritsuka out of the way of a fireball. The soldier is struck in Rituska's place, becoming severely wounded. Ritsuka uses his Mystic Code to apply first aid, the soldier in extreme pain from his wounds. As Ritsuka's resolve begins to falter, Florence Nightingale arrives to help.[1] She battles the Celtic soldiers during Ritsuka's casting, and he falls unconscious from the strain.[2]
Further treatment is able to save the soldier's life, but his right arm and left leg need to be amputated. He explains he saved Ritsuka due to his similarity to his farmhand friend, believing Rituska to have been a conscripted soldier. He starts to lament his situation, depressed by the fact that his body is no longer in any shape to take over his family's farm. Spiraling into self-doubt, he questions if he should have even saved Ritsuka and imminently regrets thinking like that. Later speaking with Nightingale alone, he states he regrets how he spoke to Ritsuka, but Nightingale affirms that his current state of mind is the result of his condition and the war. She says his action isn't something to be praised, but it is an action not anyone can perform. She leaves his aftercare to Benjamin Rush and embarks with Chaldea.[2]
