Profile
Background
Gurdoa is a member of the Clock Tower's Department of Zoology.[1]
Personality
Like many mages, Gurdoa is arrogant, and doesn't care if innocents die in pursuit of his research. He is also paranoid, as he accused El-Melloi II of sending Gray and Flat to his workshop to steal his research when that wasn't the case. He has a particular disdain for modern magecraft, calling it the technique of a thief. He considers El-Melloi II to be an upstart. He also believes he would have been a superior mage a century ago, while in truth, he would be an average mage.[1]
Role
Lord El-Melloi II Case Files
Following the assassination of Kharatron, an authority in the Zoology Department, Gurdoa and others in the department fought for Kharatron's position. He sought to gain distinction using the powers of Zeus. He set up a workshop in the sewers where he placed an altar of Zeus, barring it with an lightning Bounded Field. He summoned Phantasmal Species with elements of Jupiter, rabbit monsters, to collect electricity and people. He then converted that into the power of Zeus through the altar which he used as Mystic Code to seize control of people. He sought to use their lives as a way for him to reach the Root.[1]
When Gray and Flat Escardos enter his workshop, Gurdoa is annoyed by them barging in, and demands to know who they are. Flat introduces himself and Gray as students of Lord El-Melloi II, who Gurdoa calls a upstart. He then accuses them of coming destroy his work. Gray replies it's because his rabbit monster is taking innocent people, but he is apathetic to that. He claims their lives are merely fuel for him to reach the Root, calling Gray and Flat's motive for infiltrating his workshop as petty. Flat tells him human lives are more important than Earth, and tries to tell him human lives aren't very efficient. Gurdoa interrupts to reveal his objection isn't to kill, saying it's merely part of the process. He then summons more rabbit monsters to violently kill Gray and Flat, and says he'll expose El-Melloi II's sin, dismissing modern magecraft as the technique of a thief. However, El-Melloi and Svin Glascheit suddenly burst into his workshop, with the falling debris killing some of the rabbits.[1]
Gurdoa assumes El-Melloi II has come to apologize for the mismanagement of his apprentices. El-Melloi however responds that he has come to denounce Gurdoa's crimes and rescue his apprentices. He then deduces the type of Magecraft that Gurdoa uses to the latter's shock, along with his process. Gurdoa accuses El-Melloi II of using his apprentices to steal his research when El-Melloi II deduces he's fighting for Kharatron's position in the Zoology department. El-Melloi however replies that any incompetent fool would understand with one look of Gurdoa's workshop. He then shows a graph of the high electricity consumption in the district, comparing it to the power needed to run a small factory. Svin reads aloud an excerpt from a newspapers article about people disappearing from Druid Street. El-Melloi II tells Gurdoa that his Magecraft would've kept hidden in the 20th century, but with the Information Age, it's possible to deduce something was occurring if one pieces the information together. He then declares he will restrain Gurdoa for breaking the Clock Tower's greatest taboo: the Concealment of Mystics.[1]
Gurdoa refuse to believes his Magecraft could have been unveiled to the public, and prepares to fight. El-Melloi II tells him however he's already indicted him with the Policies Department with Zoology accepting it. He shows the official document indicating his arrest while informing Gurdoa that everyone in Zoology is pleased he'll lose his position. Gurdoa realizes he's been defeated, and claims his actions would've been trivial a hundred years ago. El-Melloi II tell him though that he would've been considered an ordinary mage a hundred years ago. He also states those in Norwich exist to bring harmony between Magecraft and modern times. Afterwards, the group witness Gurdoa being apprehended by a young Goredolf Musik and his homunculus guards.[1]
With his assets being seized upon his arrest, Luviagelita Edelfelt comes to own Carnac, London's largest department store.[2]
