Abbé FariaWP (ファリア神父, Faria-shinpu?) was a priest of the Holy Church and the mentor of the Count of Monte Cristo, featured in Fate/Grand Order Drama CD Strange Tales of Heroic Spirit Lore ~King of the Cavern, Edmond Dantès~.

Background

In 1811,[1] he was imprisoned in Chateau d'If under false charges of being a rebel plotting the Italian unificationWP, when in truth it was for opposing the Holy Church[2] and the will of a giant behind it,[3] with the "Three Wise Men" having plotted his predicament.[2] After about ten years of imprisonment in Chateau d'If, it is there that he met Edmond Dantès.[1] He taught Edmond with the help of 5000 books, imparting him with knowledge and wisdom,[1] and even knowledge of the existence of Magecraft and the Holy Church.[2] He grew to consider him like a son, before eventually telling him about the treasure on Monte Cristo island. He is the one who gave Edmond hope, telling him to never give up and to always have hope.[1]

Personality
He was a pious and virtuous man who sincerely believed that people should be loved and saved,[3] having great love for the world and people. He believed until the very end that he would be saved from his suffering.[2]
He considered Edmond like his son.[1]

Abbé Faria is dead by the time of the story's events, having taught Edmond about the hidden underworld of the World of Magecraft, notably the existence of the Holy Church and the hidden treasure of Monte Cristo. In October 1837, Edmond decides to avenge his former master and second father by going after the "Three Wise Men" who got him imprisoned.[2]
