Identity

A black flower born from the death of the king, and the queen's despair. A Queen who has abandoned her self as an "Idol", and became another Avenger.
The Heroic Spirit Marie Antoinette harbors no grudge against anyone, loves her people and her country, and smiles as she speaks of her ideals. She consciously discards all of it - her despair, her anger, her sadness, and her curses.
This is another side of that heroic spirit, one whose life is in fact the exact same as that of "Marie Antoinette, Queen of France". One who can never forget herself as a tragic queen, and a mourning mother.[1]
Appearance
In her third ascension, Marie wears the mourning dress that she wore to her execution.[2][3]

Personality
This article or section contains information fully or partially copied from an official source. This information should be rewritten or removed.
In contrast to the normal Marie Antoinette, who never curses her own misfortune, Marie Alter cries out for revenge, and brings about nothing but destruction. At her core, resentment for all hopes and ideals spreads like an ocean.
She is quite kind to children, and childlike heroic spirits - extremely so. However, she is not simply a pampering figure, but a disciplinarian as well. She expresses her role as a mother more strongly than the normal Marie Antoinette, though this motherhood, being aimless, also serves as a shackle for her.
Even if they aren't a child of hers by blood, she is extremely conscious of them because they are a child.[1]

Abilities
Skills
Class Skills
- Avenger (C+ Rank)
- Oblivion Correction (C Rank)
- Self-Replenishment (Mana) (B+ Rank)
Personal Skills
- Bloodstained Necklace (B+ Rank): A false accusation involving a particular necklace. The necklace was said to have been adorned with diamonds worth 1.6 million livres. Although Marie Antoinette was actually innocent, she was accused of plotting the Affair of the Diamond NecklaceWP and was thus exposed to public criticism for it. Her Attribute has changed from "Man" to "Earth" because of this skill. Originally, this was a composite skill that included Innocent Monster, but in this work its effect is a little different.[1] This allows her to slightly deceive others such as through subtle persuasion or disgusing herself as the normal Marie Antoinette. Though it is not nearly as powerful as Count Cagliostro's own ability.[5]
- My Love is Eternal (EX Rank): Marie Alter's love, which has now become akin to delusion, enacts multiple effects on the target, including a powerful defensive effect, regeneration for herself and others, and a form of pseudo-immortality. Even having been summoned within an Avenger's Saint Graph, Marie Alter's love for her children remains.
- Guillotine Ricanement: Guillotine of Mockery (B Rank): Noble Phantasm of the same name, expressed here as a skill. A huge black blade that appears from thin air and cuts enemies down (reminiscent of a guillotine).
Noble Phantasms
Marie Alter's first Noble Phantasm is Vae Victis. Blessed by Marie Antoinette Alter, a black lily blooms. The lily releases a powerful curse, instantly weakening and killing things within its range, and causing inanimate objects to self-destruct.
Marie Alter's second Noble Phantasm is Guillotine Ricanement. A huge black Guillotine that appears from thin air and cuts enemies down. It has the same design as Charles-Henri Sanson's Noble Phantasm, La Mort Espoir.
Marie Alter also uses Guillotine Breaker in her Attack animation, though this is not commented on her profile.
Development
In the Orleans Singularity, when discussing Jeanne Alter with Jeanne, Marie alluded to Marie Alter's possible existence by saying "If my version of the Dragon Witch appears, I would probably think 'oh, that's the other me'. And accept the things she says."[6] In regards to Marie Alter's appearance, in the "Does Moon Goddess Dream of Dumplings?" event, Marie stated "Everything I eat goes right to my breasts. The more I eat, the bustier I get."[7]
Marie's Interlude "The Fragile Lily" also featured a dark version of Marie. This one was a Shadow Servant and represented the darker part of Marie's psyche who hates France for what the people did to her family.[8]
Marie Alter was originally intended to be implemented as a Servant in the "Board Game Apocalypse" event but due to various undisclosed reasons, her implementation was ultimately postponed and she only appeared as an NPC in the form of Black Marie. She was finally made playable four years later with the release of Ordeal Call II.[9]
