Ama-no-Sakagami (天逆神?), also called AmanojakuWP (天邪鬼?), is a Divine Spirit that manifested in 16th century Japan.
Profile
Background
Ama-no-Sakagami, also known as Amanojaku, is an evil god who was banished from the heavens by the ancient gods.[1] During the Age of Gods, he lost his body and was tricked and sealed away by Humans inside a shrine.[2][3] It wasn't until the 16th Century that he managed to escape by tricking a young girl named Ohana into freeing him. Since then, he lived for many years, plunging the world into chaos and confusion.[2]
Appearance
A being of darkness, its true form bares a humanoid shape wearing a reflective mask. Signs that it is possessing someone appears to vary from person to person, as Ohana gains dull eyes and a dark aura, while Sakamoto Ryouma's eyes become yellow.

Ama-no-Sakagami possessed Lancer Ryouma when he was summoned as a Servant in the Grail War.[4][5][6][7][2][3][1]
Abilities
As the last descendant of the ancient gods, Ama-no-Sakagami commands powerful Mysteries.[3][1] However, having lost his body during the Age of Gods, he can't do anything without a host body.[3] He can control people by taking the negative emotions in their heart, no matter how small, and amplifying them.[2] Most people he inhabits wither and die in less than six months,[3] so he frequently moves from one host to another.[2] Ritsuka Fujimaru considers him an existence similiar to a High-Servant.[2]
With the power of Nobunaga's head, he can control different people excluding his vessel.[7] However, when he uses this ability, his true Magical Energy can be temporarily perceived, allowing Izumo-no-Okuni to determine his true identity.[2] He was able to control Chacha, changing her class to Avenger,[4] and Tanaka Shinbei.[7] Mori Nagayoshi is the only one who has been shown to be immune to his control.[4]
Forms and Alternate Versions
Ohana
Ohana was Ama-no-Sakagami's first vessel after getting freed during the 16th Century. The evil god managed to trick her into removing the seal that had restrained him for hundreds of years.[2]
Abilities
Ohana's body proved to be far weaker than Ama-no-Sakagami expected, so she was discarded right after using her to kill everyone in the nearby village.[2]
Sakamoto Ryouma
During Showa Restoration Singularity, Ama-no-Sakagmi possessed Sakamoto Ryouma's alternate self. Unlike his main counterpart, this version of Ryouma didn't die at Oumiya Incident.[7] He never formed a contract with the Counter Force, so he was registered in the Throne of Heroes as a Heroic Spirit instead of a Counter Guardian. Due to this, he could be summoned as a normal Servant and participate in a Holy Grail War. Izumo-no-Okuni deduced that Ama-no-Sakagami must have moved from its last host to Sakamoto after his summoning.[2]
The reason for these changes in Ryouma's story are implied to have been that he might have kept Ama-no-Sakahoko after freeing Oryou instead of tossing it around and developing a long lasting bond with her.[3]
Abilities
Sakamoto Ryouma's body is stronger than the other hosts Ama-no-Sakagami inhabited in the past. All of them withered and died in less than six months, however, Sakamoto's lasted for many years.[3]
- Combat
When Ryouma first confronted Mysterious Ranmaru X and Ritsuka Fujimaru, he chose to retreat. He implied the odds would be stacked against him if he fought a Mage and a Servant working together.[4]
Ryouma endured Tanaka Shinbei's Noble Phantasm without any signs of strain or difficulty.[7]
- Noble Phantasm
Sakamoto Ryouma's first Noble Phantasm is Ama-no-Sakahoko, also known as the Ama-no-Sakuhou (天逆砲?). It is a spear that inverts the target's very existence, cutting them off from the World.[7] Ama-no-Sakagami first used it to block an attack from Oryou.[5] On the other hand, Okada Izou blocked a strike from the spear aimed at Takechi Zuizan.[7]
The spear has a powerful binding Curse capable of controlling Oryou.[7] Thanks to it, he was able to steal the original Sakamoto Ryouma's Noble Phantasm and use her himself. In her brainwashed state, Oryou is really powerful. Since her body is extremelly tough, killing her is nigh-impossible. This forces Izumo-no-Okuni's Zanzaburou and Mori Nagayoshi to go all out to stand a chance. The two working together ultimately manage to repel her.[5] Later on, Lancer Sakamoto and Oryou working together couldn't overpower Izumo and Mysterious Ranmaru X in a fight. Although Ryouma initially believed he would be able to finish them off, they proved to be tougher than expected, mainly due to Ranmaru being empowered by Nobunaga's head.[6] Nevertheless, when Ama-no-Sakagami tried to kill the original Sakamoto, Oryou's love for him allowed her to break free from the curse and shield him with her own body, losing her life in the process.[7]
The original Sakamoto Ryouma was able to seize control of this Noble Phantasm after getting impaled by it. After shattering it, Ama-no-Sakagami lost his host body as well.[3]
Sakamoto's second Noble Phantasm is Nobunaga's head. He stole it from Mori Nagayoshi during the Holy Grail War of the Showa Restoration Singularity.[6]
Divine Form
During the Showa Restoration Singularity, Takasugi Shinsaku created a new body for Ama-no-Sakagami to replace the one he lost during the Age of Gods.[3][1] This body was created using the Magical Energy gathered through the Kishin Project.[3]
However, Takasugi ends up double crossing Ama-no-Sakagami as soon as the latter revealed he was willing to betray him. Having already anticipated this scenario, Takasugi created a contingency in his Kishin Project.[3] He had Arahabaki absorb him.[1]
Abilities
In his Divine Form, Ama-no-Sakagami wields all the power of an ancient god.[3]
Arahabaki
During the climax of the Showa Restoration Singularity, Ama-no-Sakagami took control of Takasugi Shinsaku's Arahabaki.[1]
Abilities
Ama-no-Sakagami can supposedly access Arahabaki's true power. Regardless, it was destroyed by Sakamoto Ryouma's O' Dragon, Conquer the Expanses of Wadatsumi.[1]
