EXTRA
Source Sakura: It is common knowledge that the West European Zaibatsu controls 60% of the modern world. Its directly-controlled territory of Western Europe is stable by means of a completely controlled society, and the aristocracy has come back into existence. In comparison, America has become a failed state and is quite frankly a lawless land. Certain persons of interest fled to South America and planned to reorganize, but were met with opposition from the South Americans and have been driven into a corner. The Middle East was still plagued by internal strife, and was unprepared for the seizure of Jerusalem by the West European Zaibatsu, throwing it into terrible panic. It was thought that the seizure of the religious foundation would lead to all-out war, but the Middle-Eastern countries no longer had the power to retake Jerusalem, and it was all they could do to unite to hold back the West Eurpean Zaibatsu's expansion at the borders.
Archer: I see. So those are the circumstances in which Tohsaka Rin is helping the resistance in the Middle East.
Sakura: Yes. By the way, Tohsaka-san's home ground is fairly close to the Atlas Institute where Rani-san lives.
Saber: What of Asia, where my Maestro's home ground presumably lies? To what extent is the influence of the West European Zaibatsu?
Sakura: The various Asian countries are constantly engaged in skirmishes over resources. Starting with a disaster at the end of the 20th century, Japan fell into anarchy and became a ruined country. The West European Zaibatsu, which extols management of human rights, apparently provides aid to those looking to leave Japan. Since resources are everything in this world, the Chinese considered it pointless to conquer a resourceless island country and left it alone, but the West European Zaibatsu considers human resources important too, and see Japanese people as a good resource, so they want to preserve their education level. Among them, Kishinami-san is... ah, no, this is a spoiler, so let's talk about this once the story has progressed a bit more.
Caster: You mentioned resources, but the world is at war, right? In that case, can people really leisurely play games and such? Actually, how far has technology progressed? Wouldn't science and technology change as a result of war?
Sakura: The technology, apart from space development technology having drastically halted, is about the same level as the real world. There are cell phones and smartphones as normal, and as evidenced by how Shinji-san is known as an online game champion, regions controlled by the West European Zaibatsu have a complete infrastructure set in place. However, the earth's population has decreased to about half of the real world's population. This is due to the war as well as the West European Zaibatsu controlling even the birth rate.
Saber: I see. In that case, people are the same as cattle. I can understand why Tohsaka Rin has such antagonism towards Leo.

-Going back to Case Files, Sanda, what are Fate Stay Night and Fate Zero to Case Files?
Sanda: Zero showed for the first time "People other than Nasu Kinoko can write the Type-Moon world" in other words, "you can write it too." To compare it to the Bible, Fate Stay Night is the old Testament and Fate Zero is the New Testament. Case Files is written to be read independently. Knowing the main outline for stay night and Zero will give you 90% of the in-jokes is how I wrote it. They're foundational.
-So are there are a lot of people who are reading Case Files after completing Fate/Stay Night?
Sanda: No, now, there are probably many people who know El-Melloi II from FGO rather than Fate/Stay Night. Also, I believe because of the anime there is not an insignificant amount of people who know the outline of stay night.
Urobuchi: I thought that Fate/Zero was a story you couldn't understand without playing Fate/Stay Night. Surprisingly, there are people coming to Fate through Fate/Zero. However, because it's a story that plays with the spoilers of Fate/Stay Night, unless you read stay night first there is a lot presented you won't understand or identify. That's why, for a while, I declined allowing anyone but Type-moon books to publish it.
-Touko's teacher, a Lord other than El-Melloi II makes an appearance. Sanda: Creation Department's Lord, Inorai Valualeta Atroholm. Oh yeah, I think Kinoko names all the Type-moon characters important to the worldview. The name is important to him and there's are rules on how they are named. Inorai is something Kinoko decided.
http://forums.nrvnqsr.com/showthread.php/8160-Lord-El-Melloi-II-Case-Files-Anime-TV-Series-in-07-2019?p=2975098&viewfull=1#post2975098 -Rider's Noble Phantasm Army of the King allows for the consecutive summoning of many Heroic Spirits that ran through the battlefield with him. It's an EX rank Anti-Army Noble Phantasm. Even within Zero it's described as something that departs from the beaten path. Urobuchi: However, the balance doesn't collapse. There are Noble Phantasms that can wipe out "Army of the King." Even if you prepare a gaudy gimmick, there are gimmicks in this world that will counter yours. Therefore, the degree of freedom on the creator side is very high. There's no end once you get the knack for it. Once you lean into the worldview you can honestly just have fun writing whatever you want. That's the fun of writing a Fate novel. Sanda: I'm different from the "self-indulgent" type, I like to take short instances of lore like words or phrases, receive and work out the details. For example the Mystic Eye Collection Train (a detail introduced in Mahou Tsukai no Yoru) only has its name mentioned. What the Mystic Eye Auction fundamentally consisted of was not talked about in Mahou Tsukai no Yoru, where the term first appeared. So in using it for the stage of the third case file, Nasu took the lore out of his box and let me incorporate it into the story. For creators writing spin-offs, there are few things more rewarding. Urobuchi: If he fleshed out all this interesting material there would be a lot of stories. Sanda: It's quite curious. Furthermore, I thought that generally the Mystic Eye Collection Train was a delicious piece of lore however, at that point Kinoko had no intention of using. That's the charm, Type-Moon is a toy box that won't break even if other people flesh out the lore.
Mahoyo
Aoko Nasu Kinoko: The latest magician. The heroine who looks slim in clothing, Aoko-san. She may seem dry but has a wealth of expressions. She may look like an perfect ubermensch but is actually a hard worker. Kinoko Nasu's oldest heroine and the archetype of Azaka, Akiha and Rin. Koyama's Aoko has 20% larger breasts and is overflowing with sexiness. For the fanservice shot in the extra chapter the choice stood between 'just out of the bath' and 'maid uniform' but for some reason 'bunny girl' was chosen even though it hadn't even been on the table. For part two we plan for her to drive her enemies into despair by stating "I still have two transformations remaining" while she's in her redshift form. As expected of Aoko.
Koyama Hirokazu: Making up half of the sprites in the game, she's the character I drew the most of, including drafts. Who knows how many designs were rejected before we finally settled on her casual clothing... I thought that as a female character it'd be better to have her show some defenseless parts, so I suggested miniskirts, drawing her just out of the bath, "let's put a shoulder massage in the study scene", stuff like that. However, when I saw the amusement park battle I realized "oh, so this is Aoko" and in the end I decided that a simple sweater and jeans would suit her. I struggled with the design for her final battle form (aka Super Aoko), too. That sci-fi one was rejected at once. I thought it'd be cool if she had lenses that fired beams as she moved attached to her arms and legs, though (lol).
Alice Nasu Kinoko: The last witch, posessing a style of magecraft that runs counter the ones common in Type Moon's stories. She almost completely breaks the borderline between magecraft and magic. We're approaching the subject of worldbuilding here, but for the question of 'what's a witch, anyway?' we leave that for another time. She acts coolly, but as far as girlish imagination goes she's the most 'dreaming girl' in this story. Her mother took the name Alice from 'Alice in Wonderland'. Both mother and child are like fairy tale characters. The way she looks erotic while exposing almost no skin is truly due to Koyama's magic. The mannequin aura of her casual wear is abnormal. The penguin suit is unfair. That's Koyama's magic, too.
Koyama Hirokazu >A quiet, cool beauty is easy enough to draw, but creating the difference in expressions needed for the game was challenging. However, Nasu's remark that "Alice is still a child inside" solved my troubles. There was a straight line from that development until her current design. It was one of the biggest paradigm shifts for me during developement, and after that she became extremely easy to draw. Her school uniform is from the same Reien Girl's Academy that Touko also attended, though I have redesigned it slightly. Though it was in order to make the best of her slim figure, I think might have made it a bit too tight on her.
Nasu Kinoko
An honest and unsohpisticated young man from the countryside. But although he might be honest and unsophisticated it doesn't mean he's completely pure, so while he might look like a herbivore he is, in fact, a vigorous feral boy. Actually, he's the character that's hardest for me to comment on. In the novel he was almost 180 centimeters tall, but in the game he made a class change into a refreshing kind of guy. The reason he acts casually yet comically in the main story is because I was influenced by Koyama's design. Having a natural talent for both boke and tsukkomi, he's the Kuonji manor's human AC unit (warming and cooling). By the way, it appears that while he cleans up whenever he has free time, he's pretty bad at housework on the whole and doesn't like doing it.
Koyama Hirokazu At first he had a wild feel to him as I based him upon Takeuchi's design, but I later changed his appearance to be cute while keeping his unsophisticated personality intact. As he hadn't really changed aything on the inside, I was hoping to achiveve a strong gap effect. I drew quite a few images for the brief moments where you can see his natural expressions in his battle against Beo, too. As he's a plain kind of guy, he wears his school coat on even on weekends. I think he'd prioritize function over design in his clothing. Plenty of zippers, shoes that are easy to run in, things like that
