Edits

If you're performing mass formatting edits, you can look into using AutoWikiBrowser, which allows you to streamline repetitive changes. EGGS (talk) 12:55, August 13, 2020 (UTC) Also, for linking, try to use redirects whenever possible if you're linking to something with a section like Servant Skills. Should there ever be a point where we change the formatting of pages, changing the target of the redirect is a dozen times easier than trying to find all the individual links. EGGS (talk) 12:57, August 13, 2020 (UTC)

It took me a while to look into this but I'm under the impression that I either need to make a bot or admin privileges to use AWB. Banksia (talk) 02:01, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
From what I remember following this page, only thing you should need is to set up a specialty log in at Special:BotPasswords, but you don't need a separate account. They just recommend that for separating mass edits from normal edits. I don't think you need admin privlages to establish that login. EGGS (talk) 02:14, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
Aight I'll fiddle some more. Banksia (talk) 02:42, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

Noble Phantasm Name Formatting Corrections

Thanks for your help with the “center“ formatting syntax and proofreading/clean-up (as well as the ascension images changes and renames the other day). Not too sure why the “center” text format was inputted in the way it was for some Noble Phantasm names (I don't recall them being there before tbh), though I did wish to send my appreciations for your help with the edits anyways. ArcaneX (talk) 05:44, August 23, 2020 (UTC)

Thank you so much for the help at the end! It turned into a way bigger "project" than I thought when I originally started. Still have to go back and make sure all the renames are reflected on the character pages too. Banksia (talk) 06:01, August 23, 2020 (UTC)

Mass deletion

Why are you deleting Servant and Noble Phantasm pages left and right? Zahadrin (talk) 18:15, September 1, 2020 (UTC)

The NPs are all redirects and "Yorimitsu" is redundant since she's only ever referred to as "Raikou", but if it's a problem they can all be reversed. Banksia (talk) 22:50, September 1, 2020 (UTC)

Redirects

Alternate capitalization and alternate spelling redirects should be kept as long as they're not ridiculous. Depreciated redirects like "Alcides' unnamed Noble Phantasm‎" can definitely be tossed. Also make sure to check "What links here" if it's a redirect that should definitely be deleted. EGGS (talk) 01:41, September 5, 2020 (UTC)

Removal of God Names from Skills

Are we just not allowed to say Poseidon, Zeus, or any of the God Names in Skills? Zahadrin (talk) 19:57, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

I initially changed them because that's what the localization went with, but looking into it further, most of the Skills use the kind of deity they are rather than their names. Best example is that list of Divine Protections: Ozymandias has "Protection of the Sun God" but Boudica's is strictly "Protection of Andraste". Banksia (talk) 22:04, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
Oh, I see. So the translations themselves don't actually name a Diety (Boudica not withstanding)? I wonder why the FGO wikia uses the God's Name instead. That is strange though, but I understand if that's the case. Zahadrin (talk) 08:02, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

User rights

I gave you the content moderator status, which gives you the ability to delete pages and these rights. EGGS (talk) 00:18, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

Wow, thanks! Banksia (talk) 00:27, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

Skill Sub-Page References

You may well know this already, but there are a large number of reference errors on the Skill sub-pages at the moment due to the core references remaining solely in their existing locations during the split. Inept Wiki User (talk) 13:37, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

Yeah, next project is to work on fixing them. Banksia (talk) 13:42, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

Ruby Template Trouble Query

Sorry for disturbing you, Banksia. I was wondering if I could ask you about a bit of trouble you experienced a couple of months ago. I heard that there was a problem concerning the Ruby template on this wiki shortly after it was transferred to the UCP, involving interaction with the Nihongo template. A similar Ruby template is in the works on the Toaru Majutsu no Index wiki, but it has not been implemented yet, as I recalled hearing about something here. If it isn't inconvenient, could you explain what the issue you experienced was, what caused it and how it was resolved? Thanks. Inept Wiki User (talk) 10:32, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

For some reason, the new UI has issues with the Ruby template having <center> added to it to centre the supertext, basically focusing anything that used the template into its own line and ruining the look of every paragraph. The only way around it so far is to take the <center> out of the Ruby template and applying them individually instead. Pretty clunky but again, it's been the only fix so far. Banksia (talk) 10:41, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
Understood. Thanks, Banksia. If we happen to encounter a possible alternative solution, I'll pass it on to you. Inept Wiki User (talk) 10:58, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

Skills Sections Format

I've seen you taking out the ":" in each skill. I added them to keep it streamlined. Which format should we use when describing skills? I have checked out other wikis and when they describe the specific skills of each character they usually use bulled points. I like that format better and think it is more appealing to the eye. What do you think?GuessWhoYoutube (talk) 13:23, 5 February 2021 (UTC)

Bullet points would be great but with the way wikis are formatted, it's hard to keep additional paragraphs indented (short of adding another bullet point). TBH I'm still trying to figure out the best format, it's just that having whole sections (sometimes half the entire article) indented looks strange. But I'm also sort of thinking of this in terms of looking at it like a Word document. Banksia (talk) 23:32, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
When there's just a single pargraph describing each skill it looks ok, but when you try to split the description of one skill into multiple paragraphs the indentation looks bad. Adding one bulled point per paragraph would be weird, so for now I thought of simply adding "::". It looks decent enough. You can check out Saber Alter's article to see what I mean.GuessWhoYoutube (talk) 23:43, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
Unfortunately not. The fact is that it still doesn't line up properly. I suppose I'll have to do some more digging around to see if there's another solution. Keeping it to bullet points is certainly ideal. Banksia (talk) 14:05, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

Kama-Mara's pictures

Hello there. Sorry for bothering you. Could you please revert the deletions you did on the pictures I uploaded on Kama's article? I saw that you commented they are duplicated, but they really aren't. On Assassin Kama's article we only have the jpgs of each ascension with the blue background. Shouldn't we also upload a png for each ascension with the transparent background just like we do in every other article? You could simply revert your edits on those files and move them to AssassinKamaStage2.png and AssassinKamaStage3.png right? I just think that it would be better to keep all pictures with the same format at least when they appear in the same section.GuessWhoYoutube (talk) 09:51, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

I personally don't even like most of the transparencies on the other articles unless they are a full body image. And yes, the PLAN/HOPE is to replace all the jpgs with HD pngs. It is another gargantuan task on top of renaming and sorting all the useable images on this wiki. But I guess that's neither here nor there, honestly it's taking more energy than I have to think of an argument so I'll restore them for now. Banksia (talk) 12:58, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Encyclopedia/FEXM

Sorry to bother you, but I've been trying to add the info we got on the "Moon Crux" in the Fate/EXTELLA material (Encyclopedia/FEXM), and for some reason, when I try to add it in Nero Claudius article, it doesn't work, it just shows { {#1st:Encyclopedia/FEXM|MoonCrux}}, rather than the actual template I created. It is Nero's reference number 32, if you want to see what I mean. Could you please tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it whenever you have the time? Sorry for the inconvenience. It's just driving me crazy and I don't know who to ask.GuessWhoYoutube (talk) 07:29, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

There must be some weird formatting issue somewhere on the page, but I cannot see it. It doesn't seem to be an entry error because it's only affecting part of the page, so it's probably a tag that's not properly closed somewhere. It can likely be narrowed down through testing inclusion of each entry and then removing each problem entry one by one, but don't have the time right now. EGGS (talk) 11:08, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Return link

Figured it'd be helpful to have a direct return link for those browsing directly from the skill lists. It's either impossible to do [[Skill/PARAMETER1#PARAMETER2]] or I just can't figure out how to make it work, so this this application of Template:Return seems to be the best I can work out. The presentation likely needs to be changed around to match the page format. EGGS (talk) 13:38, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

I figured it was missing something, my bad. I'll look into it, thanks. Banksia (talk) 14:00, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
Actually I'm thinking I might reformat the Skill tabs into a navigation box to slap on all the Skills articles, similar to the original idea you had. It won't redirect to the exact listing like your return template but I think it would actually make wiki hopping easier? Banksia (talk) 14:16, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

Morgan and Barghest's profiles

Will you quit changing Morgan and Barghest's profiles to include Faerie? It’s really unnecessary and pointless. Why even add it? Seriously, why? LDSatoko (talk) 10:52, 11 August 2021

Because the term "Faerie Britain" is what's used officially. --Banksia (talk) 06:06, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
the translations used for Barghest and Morgan don’t even use the term Faerie Britian, so no real need to add it LDSatoko (talk) 9:01, 12 August 2021
I'm ideally looking for anything that appears as 妖精國ブリテン in their profiles and changing them accordingly. They are ultimately fan translations, after all. Minute changes are made all the time in wikis so I don't understand your grievance with this in particular. -- Banksia (talk) 01:40, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
It looks bad okay, it looks very odd and awkward LDSatoko (talk) 8:33, 11 August 2021
LB6 Coronation
Then I'm sorry to say that it's what is currently official until we get the localisation, so you can either accept the awkwardness or we can keep doing this for two years. -- Banksia (talk) 03:12, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
Going by that logic, we should be using Altria instead of Artoria on every single LB6 page too, since that's the official localization. Use whatever flows best with the context of the sentence ([the] Fairy Kingdom if it's just 妖精國, Faerie Britain or Fairy Britain works well for 妖精國ブリテン). The "official localization" is **not** reliable until release (see: The Moment a Planet is Born, a clear mistranslation) and even then it's often questionable. Neobenedict (talk) 02:03, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
I mean I was planning to do that anyway. Not sure why you need to drag the localisation all the time. --Banksia (talk) 02:43, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

Proposed changes

I created TYPE-MOON Wiki:Proposed changes‎ as sort of a centralized area where things can be proposed and discussed seeing as so much gets lost on talk pages. If it's anything major, I can send out announcements asking for comments. I put a link in the community tab in the header so it's a bit easier to find. Not sure if it'll find any usage, but at least a better alternative than the horrid Discussion utility. EGGS (talk) 21:34, 8 September 2021 (UTC)

Zeus vs Sefar

Thoughts on this? How would you render "ほぼ相打ち状態になってセファールを追い返したの"--Crimson Moon1 (talk) 13:13, 17 September 2021 (UTC)

Fate/Grand Order Eirei Hokubunroku

I didn't know about the page Fate/Grand Order: The Heroic Spirit Food Chronicles before I created the Fate/Grand Order Eirei Hokubunroku, but the page was deleted before I could merge the contents, is it possible to undelete it so I can take what was already written there?

Done. EGGS (talk) 02:58, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
That was sloppy on my part, my mistake. -- Banksia (talk) 03:02, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

webp to png

How did you manage to upload new versions of images with a different format? Like changing WEBP files to PNG files? The Lord Reader (talk) 22:23, 1 March 2023 (UTC)

I don't think I can? At least I'm pretty sure that unless the file type ends the same, I'm not able to. -- Banksia (talk) 10:19, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
I could have sworn this happened. Might have gotten confused. The Lord Reader (talk) 19:48, 14 March 2023 (UTC)

Hiya, Banksia!

Due to your contributions to this Wiki, and all of the care you have put into this platform, I was wondering if you would be interested in joining the Fandom Stars program?

The Stars role is usually given to Users who have helped out a lot on the platform, and includes fun little benefits like invitations to special events (virtually and IRL), early access to neat new features, and other cool stuff.

If you're interested and have any questions, feel free to gimme a shout! 90 50 50  50   40 20:59, 30 July 2023 (UTC)

Learning with Manga NPs

Hey, I dont know if you are one I should ask about this, but I noticed that Noble Phantasms related to Learn with Manga! FGO (Terror of the Croconado, Wisconsin Death Trip, Official and Confidential, Government Men, Le Voyage dans la Lune, Theatre Plaisir, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre) are not included in the {{UBW}} table of NPs. Could you add them to it or bring this to light to someone who could? Many thanks.--Appelmonkey (talk) 17:57, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

Reported post notifications feature!

Howdy! Your Wiki recently got a new update for Administrators and Thread Moderators to receive notifications whenever a discussions post, reply, article comment, or message wall post is reported. This effort is to help give mods and admins an easily accessible tool to help them be able to respond to rule-breaking posts quicker than previously (as it's very easy to forget to check the reported queue). Previously, only about 8% of reported posts across the platform are dealt with in a week time. We're hoping that this update can help inform teams of these issues as they happen, rather than them having to rely on just checking the queue at random. :)

If you have any questions, want to report any glitches, or need assistance with anything, feel free to shoot me a message on here or through Discord. Have a blessed day! Fenn (Talk) September 12, 2023, 8:46 PM (EST)

Request to add specific code into the Wiki CSS

I am currently working on a much better way to display NP chants in the wiki. However, due to the restrictions put on the <infobox> template in the CSS, it always only appears to the Right. Could you please add these two snippets to the Wiki CSS so that I can complete the necessary changes required for the template.

.portable-infobox.pi-theme-center {

 margin: auto;
 float: none;

}

.portable-infobox.pi-theme-left {

 margin-right: 1em;
 float: left;
 clear: left;

}

I would be very thankful for your time.

If you wish to check the template i am working on, please check Template:Chant.

Editing series' pages for anti-piracy

Heyo, Banksia! I was wondering if we could edit the anime series' pages and add where the shows can be legally streamed? This is an effort we've been working on across the platform since animes sadly are.....uh........you know......"The World has truly entered a great pirate era". >.>

Obviously, we're hoping to help folks find safer and less harmful alternatives to swashbucklin' for their animes lol! Fenn (Talk) October 9, 2023, 9:01 PM (EST)

Checking with regards to recent changes

Hello Banksia, I thought I should ask regarding the recent activity of a certain user (past few days before/and Nov 13th), part of which seems to have not been discussed with you or your colleagues beforehand and might run contrary to your intentions. What are your thoughts, if you are at liberty to and wish to disclose them? (PS Will also be sending message/question to EGGS to make sure the matter doesn't slip by either of you) 82.132.226.254 13:37, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

Similar case and disregarding manner with this user to the above-mentioned user. Given the volume of activity, I thought it would be prudent to bring this to you both sooner rather than later. 86.170.233.28 00:44, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

Concerning the Noble Phantasms missing from the list of known Noble Phantasms

In the subsection 'List of Known Noble Phantasms' of the Noble Phantasm page, quite a few Noble Phantasms such as Asurashreshtha, Alpha Castor, Beta Pollux, Aigis, Authentic Triumph and many more are missing. Could you please add them to it or bring this to light to someone who could? Many thanks. --User:Nikdracor1234 (User talk:Nikdracor1234) 06:32, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

Pashupata reading?

Hello,
I was wondering if we can come to a consensus on the kanji reading for Pashupata?
I acknowledge that my previous edit is not how kanji works, and I apologize for that. That being said, I'm quite sure 手翳 isn't a real word, like many other made up compound words that appear in NP names. But because these aren't real words, I don't think we should read them as Jūbako-yomi or Yutō-yomi (with てえい being the latter when applied to 手翳). The wiki seems to prefer to use on-on readings.
Can we settle this by making it しゅえい (the on-on) reading instead? If you think kun-kun is better, we can make it てかざし (or てがざし) instead. I actually favor the kun-kun option and find it more viable than しゅえい.
If you have any suggestions for alternative romaji or why the current reading is fine, I'd be more than happy to talk about it.
Of course, if 手翳 is a real word that I'm not aware of, please let me know.
Sorry for the long paragraph, I just don't want to get into a pointless edit war and understand where you're coming from.
Thanks in advance
13:52, 10 January 2024 (UTC)PkMnTrainerMatan (talk)

On-on is probably better. In hindsight I'm not sure where てえい came from so that's my bad. -- Banksia (talk) 06:43, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

How are things around here?

Howdy, Banksia! It is good to see you! I just wanted to drop by and ask how you are doing and ask if there is anything I can do to help ya out with on the Wiki, like projects or updates or anything? :D

I hope you have a blessed day!

How to Find Support for Your Wiki

Hello!

I’m Elsa, and I’m a Senior Community Manager here at Fandom. You may have seen the news that, as of April 2024, the Wiki Representative program has been retired. You can read more about that change here.

That’s led to changes in how a number of wikis on Fandom are directly supported through our new support setup. As a result, we no longer have an assigned point of contact for this wiki. We’ve loved having the chance to work with your wiki directly, and I can assure you that there are a lot of ways that you can still get help and support from the Fandom team.

If you need assistance with anything you might have contacted your Wiki Representative about, here are some ways you can reach out and stay informed about the Fandom platform moving forward:

  • Join our Fandom Discord server. Not only can you discuss wiki issues directly with other editors and Fandom staff, but it’s also a great source of information about what’s happening on the Fandom platform.
  • Browse our help pages or get in touch with other editors on the Community Central discussion forums.
  • Check out Dev Wiki, a great source of custom and site-wide scripts with a group of technical editors who can also answer questions about technical subjects like custom code.
  • We’ll be working on some other ways you may be able to find additional support and even mentorship opportunities as well.

For anything else, feel free to submit a help request via the Fandom Help Desk where we have a team of Customer Support experts who can give you a hand.

So while the specifics of our community support setup may have changed, we remain committed to supporting your wiki – so don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions you may have.
