Rome

Rome^WP (ローマ , Rōma^?) is the capital city of the country of Italy in Europe. It was once the namesake and capital of the Roman Kingdom^WP, later the Roman Republic^WP, and then the Roman Empire^WP, all of which are collectively known as the Roman civilization or Ancient Rome^WP.

History

Rome was founded by the brothers Romulus and Remus, who were sons of the god Mars (Ares). It was the namesake and capital of the Roman Kingdom^WP, later the Roman Republic^WP and then the Roman Empire^WP. The city of Rome lost its status as the capital city of the Roman Empire around 286 A.D, when the empire split into the Western and Eastern Empires (both still calling themselves the Roman Empire).

Emperor Constantine the Great decriminalized Christianity in 313 A.D., a year after converting himself. Constantine the Great rechristened the ancient Greek city Byzantion in Thrace (now Turkey in modern times) into Nova Roma ("New Rome") in 330 A.D., before changing its name to Constantinople, the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire (later known as the Byzantine Empire, named after the original name of the city).

Due to Christianity's status as the state religion of the Roman Empire, Rome remained the home of the Pope^WP, the head of what would be later known as the Roman Catholic Church. In modern times, the Catholic Church, also known as the Holy Church, is both a major world religion and one of the two most powerful organizations in the World of Magecraft alongside the Mage's Association, and the Pope resides in a tiny yet sovereign theocratic city-state within Rome known as Vatican City^WP.

Altera (Attila the Hun) aimed to attack the city of Rome in 453 A.D.; she continued to think of ways to fell Rome even at the moment of her death.

It is also one of the locations in the Eternal Madness Empire (永続狂気帝国, Eizoku Kyōki Teikoku^?) in AD:0060.
