Sir Gawain's Gift of Nightless, summoning the sun at his command wherever he goes, even during the night.
Gifts (ギフト, Gifuto?) are blessings from the Holy Grail.[1]
Characteristics
Lion King bestows Gifts upon her Knights of the Lion King upon their formation.[2] The act of receiving a Gift is a contract with the Lion King, similar to the contract formed between Master and Servant.[3] One who turns against her will be burned away, so receiving a Gift means losing the ability to rebel against her.[4]
Through the manifestation of Morgan le Fay somewhere in the world, Chaldea's Tristan is somehow imbued with three Gifts previously imbued upon the Knights of the Lion King.[5]
The blessing is that of the Holy Grail of Arthurian legend, a blessing from God, possessing divinity upon the same level as Bedivere's Airgetlám. One needs the ability to "sever the Holy Grail" to defeat the Gift.[1] Mordred's Secret of Pedigree, made for the purpose of rebelling against her father, partially rejects the Gift bestowed upon her when in use.[1]
Artoria Avalon's Noble Phantasm Round of Avalon grants Gifts to her allies.[6]
Known Gifts
| Knight | Gift | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Gawain | Nightless (不夜, Fuya?) | Makes the sun shine anywhere he goes even at night, ensuring he is at his peak at all times. As a Servant of Chaldea, he later gains the upgraded skill Nightless Charisma, which is the result of the Gift, the events of the Singularity, being engraved on his Saint Graph. Compared to the other Knights of the Lion King who came to their own answers, he has not cast aside his sins.[7][8] |
| Lancelot | Ferocity (凄烈, Seiretsu?) | He receives the Gift of "Ferocity" from the Lion King, due to vowing to ascertain the situation as a person, not martyring himself to justice. |
| Mordred | Rampage (暴走, Bōsō?) | In exchange for burning out her soul, she can unleash her Noble Phantasm without limit to the point that fighting three Servants; Arash, Bedivere and Mash at once isn't even considered a game to her. She is weakened in this state however, as her armor is constantly rejecting the Gift since it was made to rebel against King Arthur. The Lion King is aware that she will eventually die as a result of the gift, but considers it to be of no importance to her.[9] |
| Tristan | Inversion (反転, Hanten?, localized as "Reversal") Nightless (不夜, Fuya?) (Morgan) Rampage (暴走, Bōsō?) (Morgan) |
Tristian received the Gift of "Inversion", as the Lion King saw that his fingers were completely frozen with despair. His Gift of "Inversion" nullifies his Weakness (Poison) while changing his personality to become cruel and callous. Similar to Gawain and Lancelot's own Gifts. |
| Gareth | Impurity (不浄, Fujō?) | She wished to "avoid being defiled any further" after having slaughtered her comrades. The specifics of the Gift are unknown.[10] |
| Agravain | None Judgment (Hypothetical) |
Within the Singularity, Agravain refused to receive a Gift from the Lion King. The Gift designated to him would have been been "Judgment", a suicide attack for evildoers that would have applied to his Noble Phantasm. Consequently, it would have also targeted Agravain himself.[11] |

Incidentally, Tristan already got his answer in the Interlude, and Mordred can clearly tell "If I was serving that Father, that's what I would do, and the me from Chaldea would kill me to stop it.".
