A Drifter (漂流者, Hyōryū-sha?) is an entity who can Drift (漂流, Hyōryū?), a form of Parallel World Travel (並行世界移動?).[1][2]
Characteristics
According to Koyanskaya of Darkness, Drifting is a form of Spatial Teleportation (空間転移?) achieved by rewriting the laws of physics.[2] It is similar to Rayshifting, allowing the drifter to teleport to other Parallel Worlds. Mash Kyrielight explains that it works by propelling the target into a Higher Dimension, and then dropping them back down to a lower one. Thanks to this ability, Miyamoto Musashi was able to get past the Lostbelt's storm walls.[1]
Some drifters are unable to control the timeline they travel to. Others are native to a Pruned Event, a timeline that was already erased.
Other
- Sliding Shift: Mysterious Heroine X regards Ashtart's Sliding Shift as a form of Drifting (ドリフト?) that allows her to travel to other Parallel Universes. However, according to X, it is different from Rayshifting.[3] Space Ishtar's Maanna is also capable of drifting.[4]
