TepēyōllōtlWP (テペヨロトル, Tepeyorotoru?) is a jaguar deity from Aztec mythology.

Profile

Identity

Tepēyōllōtl, also known as the Heart of the Mountain (山の心臓, Yama no Shinzō?), is a terrifying starved jaguar deity from Aztec mythology. It dwells in Teyollocualóyan, Mictlan's seventh layer, where he devours the heart of any person in the Underworld choosing a path out of fear.[1]

Tepēyōllōtl is also regarded as Tezcatlipoca's TonalWP (トナル, Tonaru?), a different aspect of his Soul.[1][2] It is Tezcatlipoca's jaguar form, the one he used to kill and devour the giants who filled the Earth. He also used it to crush Quetzalcoatl's hip-bones, who had become the Sun, causing them to fall to the ground.[3]

Appearance

It is believed that Tepēyōllōtl's name "Heart of the Mountain" refers to its size, which is as big as a mountain.[1]

Role

Fate/Grand Order

In Fate/Grand Order, Tezcatlipoca's second Ascension is called the Heart of the Mountain and Jaguar Man. In this state, Tezcatlipoca wears an armor reminiscent of a jaguar.[citation needed] Furthermore, when he uses his Noble Phantasm First Sun Xibalba, he transforms into Tepēyōllōtl, with one of his Voice Lines being: "Ehēcatl, ehēcatl. Yohualli ehēcatl, titlacahuan. The time of doom is nigh. To the next world with you. Tonal Tepēyōllōtl!"[4]
