Question about line "However, later entries in their profile use masculine pronouns for Yamato Takeru [...] not as a Heroic Spirit"
I understand the character is sort of left ambiguous/genderless, especially at first, as interviews state. But I would like to point out that the Biography explicitly uses masculine pronouns regarding Yamato Takeru as a Heroic Spirit as shown here.
Should the line be edited to state that logbook entries eventually use masculine?
- Leave as it is. It's just the english translation. In Japanese there is no such thing as true male pronouns as far as I know. Tomboys use male pronouns all the time. You can't determine their sex with pronouns alone when they make an emphasis on their gender being undetermined.GuessWhoYoutube (talk) 18:39, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- Okay this isn't exactly how it works. First person pronouns aren't gender exclusive, so a "tomboy" might use ぼく(boku) or おれ(ore). But in terms of third-person, it works just as in english, with he (かれ, kare) being used for men and she (かのじょ, kanojo) for women. As long as that is used in the original text, it should state Yamato's gender. Mind you that Yamato is called the "tragic prince" which would imply being male as well.
- How does that work on Enkidu? Do they use male 3rd person pronouns on him or not? If they do, it wouldn't prove anything regarding takeru either. Either way, their profile consciously lists their gender as unknown. That's what will be listed in the wiki until it's confirmed otherwise. - Here's the interview, from 4Gamer: When we got the pitch, we already had a set list of Servants to be featured in FGO up to 2020, so our first condition was having no overlap with that. The second conditions were characters touched upon in FGO Servant backgrounds, and to do things we couldn't in FGO. And the first thing we need for a new original Fate/ is a genderless Saber. Also saying that Takeru being called a prince implies male is a very silly argument (as has been this whole thing) when Artoria is called a king. Should we unecessarily edit Artoria's page too? Who killed Takeru? Orochi or Ibuki
Ibuki-douji and Takeru don't seem to know one another, so I was wondering why does the article link to Ibuki's article in the sentence: "At the end of their life, Yamato Takeru died from poison after battling the god of Mt. Ibuki." Shouldn't it be Orochi? Then again, Orochi should have already been dead for Takeru to be wielding his sword. What's up with that?GuessWhoYoutube (talk) 16:38, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
