Shroud of Magdalene

The Shroud of Magdalene (マグダラの聖骸布, Magudara no Seigaifu?), also known as the Shroud of Magdala,[1] is a Holy Shroud Mystic Code.

Characteristics

The cloth possesses the ability to restrain men, rendering them unable to move while bound with it. It does not work on women. Specialized in "restraining," it is not able to directly harm those bound by it. The user is able to freely manipulate it, reaching out to grasp the target as if it has its own will. It is unable to be torn by men, but it is easily cut by Artoria Pendragon.[2]

Variations

Shroud of Valentinus

The Shroud of Valentinus (ヴァレンティヌスの聖骸布, Vuarentinusu no Seigaifu?), also known as the Shroud of Lovers (恋人たちの聖骸布, Koibito-tachi no Seigaifu?),[3] is a transformed version of the Holy Shroud of Magdalene.[1]

Unlike its original version, this version of the cloth is not utilized for the purpose of restraining men as Caren has decided to use it as a "shroud of lovers". It bears the name of the priest that that became the symbol for Valentine's Day due to Caren choosing to name it after Valentinus in order to play along with the holiday spirit at Chaldea.[1] In battle, Caren utilizes it to bind opponents,[4] and she can utilize the Skill Shroud of Valentinus.[1]
