AngelsWP (天使・エンジェル, Tenshi/Enjeru?) are beings with the role of messengers of God, who bring his blessings to Humans.[1]
Characteristics
The true nature of angels is extremely ambiguous, with different groups active in the magecraft world holding conflicting views. They have alternatively been identified as artificial vessels of power,[1][2][3] Divine Spirits,[3] and exoanthropic alien beings.[4][5][6]
While the image of angels as human-like with wings is well-known, it was really influenced primarily by the images of the goddess of victory NikeWP from Greek Mythology.[7]
Artificial Angels
Within much of the World of Magecraft, it is believed that angels do not truly exist, though the "concept of angels" is utilized to create artificial vessels of power for magi.[7][8][3][2] The name "angel" is often given to anything with an ambiguous magical nature and being used by magecraft.[1] Magi make use of their names and their ability to deliver the blessings of God to alter their magecraft,[3] using this widespread Concept of Angels to stabilize the existence of magecraft.[1] If you affix the name of an angel to magical energy, it gains "directive". "Angel" in this case thus only pertains to the concept of applying directives to magical energy.[3] These false angels are power itself, and do not have personalities or emotions.[7][2]
Within the Land of Steel, A-Rays have been created in the image of winged humanoid angels from Abrahamic faiths.[9]
Genuine Angels
The Holy Church recognizes angels as real beings. Differing from the concept of Metatron that makes up the aspect of Metatron Jeanne, information about the real Metatron may exist within the depths of the Holy Church, despite the denial of its existence in the broader World of Magecraft.[10]
The Church regards demons as fallen angels that only the "substitutes of God" have the authority to vanquish. In particular, True Daemons are said to have been directly created by God.[4] These True Daemons are higher-dimensional, extraterrestrial beings completely unrelated to humanity's existence and comparable to the evil gods from a certain fictional mythologyWP that was popular in the twentieth century.[6] Similarly, the Department of Lore within the Clock Tower studies "exoanthropic angels and demons", extremely dangerous alien beings contiguous with the Church's label of "True Daemon". Objects left by or related to these beings are classified as Angelic Artifacts.[5] Angelic Artifacts have been discovered in ruins of the ancient Hebrew people, establishing a strong connection between stories about angels in Abrahamic religion and the genuine article.[11] As the other departments of the Clock Tower deny the existence of angels, however, Lore is widely believed to be a hoax, especially among its rival Department of Archaeology that regards it as trying to monopolize artifacts that properly belong to it.[12] At least some magi outside Lore, such as Paracelsus von Hohenheim, recognize angels as genuine messengers from God.[13]
Ciel possesses an innate ability which a department within the Holy Church has recognized as her being "blessed with the birth of an angel", which a certain magus dismissed as nothing more than an "innate defect".[14]
Other
The style of martial arts known as Jacob's Limbs is said to have been invented by Jacob as he wrestled with an angelWP. If one reached the limits of the Jacob's Limbs skill, they could triumph even over an Archangel. According to legends, a Saint who mastered this can surely beat to death an angel of destruction that leads 12,000 angelsWP.[15]
The angel Metatron is God's right hand,[2] and the executor of his will, said in Jewish mysticism to be one of God's proxies and among the highest of the 72 guardian angels on Earth. He's the one with the role of judging humans in the court of heaven, and often said to also have been the pillar of fire that guided the Israelites in the Book of ExodusWP, described as the fire which illuminates the world and heavens.[3] It is believed that his name means "one who serves behind the throne" or "one who occupies the throne next to the throne of glory",[2] referring to God's throne. It's said that the prophet EnochWP, a descendant of Adam, was turned into an angel and became Metatron.[3]
The Archangel MichaelWP is one of, if not the most famous of all angels. Sometimes depicted with a sword in one hand, and in the other a pair of scales. Those scales are to measure the sins of the dead, and the sword is to drive away Satan the serpent.[16]
Noah wields a Whirling Flaming Sword said to have protected the Garden of Eden. While he regards it as the embodiment of God's Word, it bears a strong resemblance to Ea and may in fact be derivative of that weapon.[17]
The sword and Noble Phantasm of First Hassan, Azrael, is named after Azrael, the Islamic angel of death.[18]
In Kabbalah, ShemhamphoraeWP is a form of Notarikon and Gematria gathering the names of 72 angels. Using the Book of Exodus and its 19th verse for about three verses, which in the original Hebrew consisted of 72 letters, and taking one letter from each of the three verses at a time, they made abbreviations for the names of 72 angels. The angels of the Shemhamphorae are linked to the 12 signs of the zodiac, and also to the 72 Demons of the Lesser Key of Solomon.[19]
The Alphabet of SirachWP, written some time between 700 and 1000 AD, describes how, after Lilith opposed God and Adam and left the Garden of Eden, three angels tried to convince her to return, but failed even after God declared that 100 of her children, the evil Lilim spirits, would be killed if she did not return. In response, Lilith swore that she would kill the infants of humanity in return, but she cannot use this power on babies named after the angels who tried to stop her from leaving the Garden of Eden (Senoy, Sansenoy and Semangelof), or babies who wear charms bearing their likeness.[20]
While distinct from True Daemons, the alien Ultimate Ones, also researched by the Department of Lore, have been known to have physical forms reminiscent of Abrahamic conceptions of angels, most notably Type Saturn, who resembles a gigantic cross.[21] Type Venus also adopts the form of a stereotypical humanoid angel when her remains intermingle with the collective consciousness of humanity, leading her to take on an appearance reminiscent of the angelic A-Rays common in the Land of Steel.
Known Angels

Hierarchy
First Order
Also known as SeraphimWP (熾天使, Oki Tenshi?), they are usually depicted as six-winged serpents.[16] Artificial First Order Angels exceed the power of a Top Servant.[22]
Second Order
Also known as CherubimWP (智天使, Shi Tenshi?), the plural of cherub. They are usually depicted with four faces and four wings, a half-human half-beast angel. They are the guardians of the eastern edge of paradise,[16] using a flaming sword that was the embodiment of God's "Word".[17]
Noah's Noble Phantasm Great Ram, Noah’s Ark is a mecha in the shape of a cherub.
Third Order
Also known as GalgalimWP (座天使, Za Tenshi?). Sometimes equated with the ThronesWP, which are depicted as blazing wheels, with the wheel's outer rim lined with eyes.[7]
Fourth Order
Also known as KyriotesWP (主天使, Shu Tenshi?).
Fifth Order
Also known as Dynamis (力天使, Iki Tenshi?).
Sixth Order
Also known as Exusiai (能天使, Nō Tenshi?).

Fate/Prototype
In the Tokyo Holy Grail War, Masters and Servants are given Command Spells of different ranks called Master Degrees, each corresponding to a rank in the angelic hierarchy, represented using the number of wings, with the first-ranked being the highest and 7th-ranked being the lowest. This is divided according to the level of arcane knowledge possessed by a magus and how strong they are.[23][24] It goes:
- First - Seven-winged Seraphim.
- Second – Six-winged Cherubim.
- Third – Five-winged Thrones.
- Fourth – Four-winged Dominions.
- Fifth - Three-winged Virtues.
- Sixth – Two-winged Powers.
- Seventh – One-winged Princes.
The "Imitation Grail" possessed by the Church that is the basis of the Tokyo Holy Grail War is able to summon or create a being on a higher level of existence. While Paracelsus von Hohenheim speculates that the Grail could theoretically summon a genuine angel,[13] it is in fact designed to conjure the Beast of 666 into existence.

[] Fate/hollow ataraxia - Heaven's Feel - 1/ Heaven Feel's Backnight I That which is called Prana is merely a fuel for the purpose of activating Magecraft; by itself, it can wield no effect.
However, there do exist exceptions to this rule, whereby -- restricted to those circumstances in which Prana itself comes to bear qualities that approach the nature of Magecraft -- it is let to take a 'form' (カタチ, katachi?, lit. "shape").
For example ――― it is rumored that the Einzberns bestowed a personality unto the Holy Grail.
If said personality is possessed of Prana, it would from its birth come to bear the Thaumaturgical Trait (魔術特性, Majutsu Tokusei?) of "Wishgranting" (願いを叶える, negai wo kanaeru?).
Should its vital processes and the faculties that it holds as a Holy Grail come into direct junction, it would likely be able to give 'form' to the Miracle (奇跡, kiseki?) of "Magecraft" merely by the release of Prana.
The "Incarnated Demons" (受肉した魔, juniku-shita ma?) spoken of by the Holy Church also follow this convention.
Those beings created as fiends before existing as organisms exercise a Magecraft of an order beyond human ability.
The Thaumaturgical Circuits that Magi (we) bear are little more than spurious nerves (疑似神経, giji shinkei?, lit. "pseudo- / quasi- / virtual nerves") -- fabricated (作り上げた, tsukuri-ageta?) in the shadow 裏 (ura, lit. "shadow / reverse / behind"?) of the nerves that we possess as of existing as humans; a faculty extrinsically affixed (後付, atozuke?, lit. "attached after").
However ――― fiends possess nothing so much as 'spurious nerves.'
To them, the entirety of their vital processes serve as faculties that exist for the purpose of calling forth fiends.
It appears that the Holy Church refer to such beings as "True Daemons" (真性悪魔, shinsei akuma?).
Distinct from those imposters (偽物, nisemono?) that clad themselves in the Ideations of Man (人間の想念, ningen no sounen?) and come into being (成る, naru?) via "Unit Designation" (個体名, kotai-mei?, lit. "unit name"), they are authentic "Daemons" brought forth by the Lord, who were as they were before being Named (名付ける, nazukeru?) by Man.魔力というのは魔術を起動させる為の燃料にすぎず、ソレ単体で効果を発揮する事はない。

聖堂教会が語る『受肉した魔』もこの例に当て嵌まる。

[] Fate/EXTRA material - Encyclopedia: True Demon [Circumstances], p.190 True Demon [Circumstances]
Even in the world of Extra, the concept of Demons (悪魔の概念, akuma no gainen?) is by humanity treated as the greatest of obstacles; so as God is to omniscience and omnipotence (全知全能, zenchi zenou?), so as demons as an existence are to mortal levels of awareness and impotence (人知無能, Jinchi Munou?, lit. "human intellect and impotence").
They are as an abyss (淵, fuchi?) that lies within arm's reach, yet decisively beyond comprehension.
Distinct from those demons from Stay Night, which exist only as imitations, the real thing -- Enfleshed Demons (受肉した悪魔, juniku-shita akuma?, lit. "Incarnated Demon") are that with which humans are incapable of competing 太刀打ちできない (tachi-uchi-dekinai, lit. "incapable of crossing swords"?).
(※ There is in record only a single instance in which an Enfleshed Demon was forced to disperse (退散, taisan?, lit. "disperse / retreat"), but that's a different story.)
In general, demons are existences that take possession, utilizing the corpus of a human to incarnate (受肉, juniku) and take action, but in the event that the psyche (精神, seishin?) of the human host (苗床になる人間, naedoko ni naru ningen?, lit. "the human that becomes a seed-bed") cannot withstand the strain, it is commonplace for self-annihilation (自壊, jikai?) of the host to occur, dispersing the essence of the demon into the vicinity.
There exist also humans who by way of their own acts (業, gō?, lit. "sins; worldly preoccupations / fixations / absorptions; karma") are subsumed unto the category of Demons as a result of losing their humanity; but these creatures that are said to have become Fiends (魔人, Majin?) cannot be considered True Demons.
In the world of Extra -- whether by way of Demonic possession, or in the circumstance that one's own actions bring about a transformation -- the phenomenon whereby a True Demon is birthed unto the world has, as of present day in 2030, not been brought successful fruition even once.
Though the classifications of "Demons" and "Fiends" do exist, their manner of existence is in essence indistinguishable from that of a higher-order lifeform (高次元生命体, kou-jigen seimeitai?, lit. "higher-dimension lifeform") that inhabits a different sphere of civilization (異なる文明圏, koto-naru bunmei-ken?) upon a different planet (異なる惑星, koto-naru wakusei?).
In sum, said existences can, per the recognition of the Universe of Awareness (認識宇宙, ninshiki-uchuu?, lit. "the universe derived of observation / perception"), no longer be discerned as "human."
Their existences would approximate to that of the cosmic horrors (邪神, jashin?, lit. "evil god") of a certain fictitious Mythos popular in the 20th century.

[] TYPE-MOON BOOKS material -The Adventures of Lord El-Melloi II Glossary: Karmaglyph [Person], p.023 Karmaglyph [Person]
Karmaglyph Melissa Deluc.
“Woah, woah, woah, I know that status-wise I’m the leader of the Neutral Faction, but I’m from the puny Eleventh Department. I cannot be compared to the previous El-Melloi.”
“Hey, El-Melloi II, don’t you think it’s unfair for you to monopolize all the fun of the adventure?”
Lord Meluastea.
Has two attributes: Earth and Ether. He is the Lord of Archeology, and now also the Dean of Mineralogy.
The simplest way to describe him is as a Mage Indiana Jones capable of utilizing the treasures he collected.
He uses Shoot the Moon, a mystic bow normally hidden in his suit. The mystic bow is capable of several different types of shots and can be used for excavation. Aside from its bow form, it can also morph into a hookshot wire or an emergency crane.
He’s actually an Alteration pro.
His touch can effortlessly alter metal into rubber, fire into ice, concrete into mud. In addition to this ability, he also carries concealed in his person a diverse array of treasures he collected as the leader of the Meluastea. The sheer adaptability of this ability combined with his Mystic Codes is enough to place him among the Clock Tower’s top five.
He normally keeps this a secret but his true ability is to overclock his treasures.
Its name is Phantasm Overload.
As someone who has no qualms about altering even his own magical energy with extreme delicacy, Karmaglyph can force a treasure to go beyond its capabilities. Naturally, the treasures burn to crisps more often than not, but until they do, they display power far superior to the Mysteries of the modern era—in some cases superior to their power in the Age of Gods. This couldn’t make for a more horrifying combination with how the Department of Archeology owns quite a few artifacts rivaling the Holy Ark. But obviously, as a lover of archeology, he rarely ever displays this ability.
During the events of The Adventures of Lord El-Melloi II, he’s in his late 30s.
While the Meluasteas were famous for being quite the softies despite being Lords, Karmaglyph’s actions are quite ambitious. Money was always necessary for archeology, but come the 20th century, money suddenly became exponentially more needed by everyone. It’s due to this that he managed to steal the position of Dean of Mineralogy, but this also invited major distress.
Stealing a chair from the Aristocratic Faction put him on Barthomeloi’s watchlist.
The Meluasteas were the leaders of the Neutral Faction, but the Eleventh Department was always among the weakest. Their leadership status was symbolic and held together by tradition. Karmaglyph knew that and this was why he was so invested in solidifying his position.
Also, since the Department of Lore keeps exoanthropic artifacts under custody, they keep each other under constant surveillance. Lore is suspicious that Archeology is withholding artifacts belonging to their category, while Archeology wholeheartedly believes Lore is a hoax to monopolize a set range of artifacts. But despite everything, fieldwork often requires each other’s cooperation.
His interest in El-Melloi II is part political and part because he thinks their situations are similar. Because both lack genuine interest in Lord status and have another goal outside their goal in magecraft.
PS: A large sum of his debt is owed to Melvin’s mama.
His name is portmanteau of karma and hieroglyph.

A cross shaped Aristoteles that is 3000 meters long.
It's outer shell is composed of an illuminating mineral, and there's nothing else. This flying object fires a rain of light to the ground from its body.
The rain is a cross shaped electric impact that is a meter long, and it explodes as it hits the ground, annihilating the living things around it. There are variations to this cross shaped light and some causes an earthquake that tears apart the earth as it lands on the ground. The crosses struck on the ground are just like tombs spread about on the wild land.
