Hi. I'm grm_wnr, aka delta from Beast's Lair. I'm an admin here and on Wikipedia, so if you have any wiki-related questions, drop them on my talk page.

I'm more of a technician than a writer, and I'm also terrible at Japanese. On top of that, I'm not particularly fond of powerlevelling and discussing the various intricacies of the 'verse that have no real plot impact just for the sake of it, so I'll leave that to others. You'll probably see me dropping a couple of wikilinks and categories later, though.

Plans / scratchpad

Just some random ideas for safekeeping. If you can disagree, you can kill it early (by contacting me and discussing, not by deleting it kthxbai)

short term

Doing right now or doing once I get in the mood

  • Replacing placeholders with at least minimal articles
    • Currently, in that order: 1. get article/content from Wikipedia or 2. write own stub
  • Categorization needs a master plan
    • Wikipedia-like seems like the best option, though I like some of the smaller taglike subdivisions too (brainstorm: Category:TYPE-MOON works => Category:TYPE-MOON works by property tag => Category:Novel/Category:Fandisc/...)

mid term

Once the immediate shakedown period is over.

  • Make some templates - I think characters would do well with infoboxen, other stuff not so much but who knows
  • Draft some content and formatting rules/guidelines, put up for discussion
    • Style: Wikipedia is looking fine, though we could be less dry in general (we already are, and I like it)
    • Formatting/Naming: Wikipedia is fine, except for the FN/LN thing (should be put up for discussion some time, but I don't care either way)
    • Granularity: Much, much finer than Wikipedia - I see little need for aggregate articles here. Thoughts: Split visual novels into path articles? Works into vn/anime/manga articles? Single episode/chapter articles?
    • Scope: In-universe nearly anything goes (i.e. I doubt we want details on your fanfiction, unless you're Himura or something, that is), Out-of-universe needs some thoughts (do we want articles on ONscripter etc?)
    • Images: Read Wikia rules again, tending towards a more lenient interpretation of Wikipedia rules here.
    • References: We want them. Definitely. A few templates would come in handy.
    • Original research: Unlike Wikipedia, here a thing we should probably encourage, as long as it's marked as such. Idea: Unless it's totally obvious, write an essay in your userspace and link it from the article as a source (which is then subject to the usual content discussions). YES! WE ARE ALL SCHOLARS HERE.
  • Put these into practice
    • Make a "model" article. Probably a character article. Think about typical sections, etc.
  • Learn more about the WGEP and make an informed decision.
  • Make the whole wiki look more unique, familiarize with monobook.css and propose custom skin.

long term

i.e. never.

  • learn Japanese
  • ???
  • Profit!
