The ancestor of the Visconti family, a figure named Uberto, is said to have slain a man-eating serpent-dragon near Milan which led to the “Biscione” being depicted as the crest of the Duchy of Milan. It became one of the most widely recognized serpent designs as time passed, even serving as the symbol of a car manufacturing company. Its fame is based on its popularity and recognition. While its name may not be widely known, serpents live discreetly yet surely near the habitats of its prey. [1]
