I'm just vaguely wondering if it shouldn't be 'Projection, also known as Gradation Air,' since it seems Projection is used more by the English fandom(which is what we're aiming for, I'd assume...).
Even if Gradation Air were the actual term for 'Projection,' it'd still be simpler just to make the article name 'Projection' and say 'real name Gradation Air,' or something of the sort. While you could just have 'Projection' redirect to Gradation Air, I don't see any particular reason to keep it.
Keep in mind that I don't really know much, it just felt a bit awkward to me.
- They are pretty much synonyms (the word "touei" means projection, and the katakana reading given in the entry is Gradation Air) and the article Projection redirects here, so I don't really see the difference? Byakko 09:04, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I mentioned that. It just felt kinda strange to me since 'Projection' seems to be used more; if they are synonyms, then there really isn't any compelling reason as far as I can see to use Gradation Air instead of Projection...
On the other hand, there's also no real reason to use Projection over Gradation Air. It was just a nitpick, I guess.
- "On the other hand, there's also no real reason to use Projection over Gradation Air." Yes, quite. They both comer here anyway, so there's absolutely no difference in naming the article the one or the other. Afterall, we use the article "Noble Phantasm", "Reality Marble", "Marble Phantasm", not "Fabulous treasure", "Innate bound field". Gradation Air is what's written at the opening of the entry "touei" just like all the others. Byakko 20:48, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Just wondering, where did it say that Shirou can trace Avalon without a decrease in rank? Cuz I don't recall anywhere in the game.
"The world changes completely as the darkness is destroyed by a golden light and- in Emiya Shirou’s hand is the perfectly reproduced sheath of Saber." There is also a part before this as well when Shirou is actually giving Saber Avalon back the quote's like "I will never project anything as perfect as this" or something like that. 71.134.226.108 04:11, August 31, 2011 (UTC)John Smith 21:09, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
- "Furthermore, whenever replicating mystical objects such as Noble Phantasms, it is possible to faithfully copy their special abilities and any skill that its owner performed are available for use."
Where is this from? If it is from Side Material or CM3, please could you give me the page number? --Junky (talk) 05:25, December 12, 2012 (UTC)
- It was in the revision from before I edited it, so I have no clue where it is from in that case. It seems to have been added by someone with knowledge of Japanese, so it could be valid. EGGS (talk) 17:10, December 12, 2012 (UTC)
The limits of Shirou's Gradation Air/Projection
If Shirou can trace from sight alone, then instead of blueprints and materials; can they use a photo instead?
- Nope. Even with blueprints and memories it was difficult. Shirou analyzes the history of the object so a photograph would gain him nothing – it would be like tracing a Noble Phantasm by seeing a plastic replica. --Junky (talk) 05:10, December 11, 2013 (UTC)
broken phantasm
I was wondering, when Archer "breaks" a noble phantasms it gains a rank right? So what would happen if either him or Shirou "broke" a regular weapon instead. Would it become a noble phantasm or would it just be a sword that blows up? 217.43.66.250 20:16, December 15, 2013 (UTC)
Broken Phantasms gain a rank because Noble Phantasms can be charged with more mana and detonated.
Regular objects cannot be detonated by charging it with more mana. In fact, charging something with more mana blindly actually makes the object more fragile. This is why reinforcement spells are difficult.
Certain Mystic Codes can be charged with mana and act as a resevoir (e.g. AZOTH, gems, grimoires), but those are a whole different matter.

Divine Construct
I remember reading somewhere that Excalibur was almost impossible to project due to it's status as a Divine Construct, so I have 2 questions. 1: Is that true? 2: If is, does it apply to every Divine Construct? I already know that Shirou's brain cannot bear to try analysing Ea, but Kaleid's version of him traces Ig-Alima. Does Kaleid work differently or is that Shirou just that op?
