1 BEAST = 7 GRANDS??
In London: The Death World in the City of Demonic Fog - Section 8 Handersen explains how the Grand Servants are meant to face a world threat (please don't quote me on this), and later on, we learn the Counter Force summons Grands to fight Beasts.
I've seen people in forums claim it takes 7 Grand Servants to defeat 1 Beast and when I asked where they got that, they redirected me to the Grand Servant page on the wiki where it says: "Its purpose is to pit seven Grand Servants against one powerful enemy, the Beasts, rather than fight each other like Servants in the Holy Grail War." . I think this sentence is a little vague, and going by the story in FGO, it would seem the Counter Force only summons 1 Grand per Beast. What do you guys think? Is it confirmed 7 Grands = 1 Beast? If it isn't, should we change the sentences I provided so that people don't get confused? Have a great day or night wherever you live. GuessWhoyYoutube (talk) 16:31, June 20, 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think its necessary, as the sentence clearly doesn't say a singular Beast requires 7 grands. It merely uses "one powerful enemy" to refer to the Beasts as a collective. Incub7 17:47, June 20, 2020 (UTC)
Chinese Server explains Grands
Can someone determine if this screenshot is official?
It gives a mini description for each Grand Servant so in case it is accurate we should include it:
"Grand Saber: Holding the Holy Sword made from the stars to fight the threat against humanity.
Grand Berserker: Ignorant, ruthless, no fear, extremely mad, extremely chaotic from the beginning.
Grand Archer: Reaching the unreachable boundary, shooting the place of untouchable fantasy.
Grand Lance: Firmly covering the fabric of the world, the foundation of human reasoning.
Grand Rider: Riding the origin beast of calamity, steering the ark to save the world.
Grand Caster: Before the disaster, resisting enemies from the outside.
Grand Assassin: Explaining the destiny of the abyss, bestowing the truth of life and death."
Here's the link of a thread discussing it: https://community.gamepress.gg/t/datamined-leaks-lb5-2/70731/6 --GuessWhoYoutube (talk) 21:07, October 7, 2020 (UTC)
Romulus
In his my room lines, he says this:
"この霊基にあって、私は冠位を捨てた。グランドランサーのままでは、お前のいるカルデアには現界し得ぬようだったからな。"
Official NA translation: "In gaining this Spirit Origin, we abandoned our crown. We could not manifest in Chaldea had we remained as Grand Lancer."
Fan translations: "With this Spirit Origin, I have thrown away my crown and status. As you at Chaldea would not have been able to bring forth me as a Grand Lancer." "By this Saint Graph, I threw away the Crown. Because I found myself unable to take form in your Chaldea while I remained Grand Lancer."
The official NA translation's wording is annoying ambiguous (it completely leaves out the "からな"/"because" in the second sentence), but the Japanese line makes it very, very, VERY clear that he explicitly threw away his Grand status specifically to manifest in Chaldea. Every Japanese page I could find on the subject also agrees with this claim.
He did NOT give up his grand title to aid Chaldea against Chaos. Unless you have an explicit source stating otherwise, please do not revert this edit again.
EDIT: Also, I notice the guy who reverted it also left a comment claiming Tez is no longer grand assassin. Here's a direct quote from the 8th anniversary interview:
"Then one currently in Chaldea is Grand Assassin Tezcatlipoca? Nasu: Correct. Divine Spirits can't be Grands, but in Tezcatlipoca's case, it's because his base is a human body."
Please stop reverting people's edits unless you're ready to bring sources. This Wikia has a bad enough reputation for spreading bad information as it is. Tash2345 (talk) 10:28, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
- "We were saving the power left in this body for what comes after, but no more. We have decided to use all our remaining divine aura, and all our Authority, to see you to your destination." (Olympus 22)
- "Forgive us. Unfortunately, we will not be able to join you for your battle against the mage who grew Atlas the opponent you must defeat at all costs. Though Aether may have summoned us here, we retain a Grand-class Spirit Origin. And the only time a Heroic Spirit with Grand status appears...is when the final showdown is close at hand. And while, owing to this Lostbelt's own peculiarities, two Grand Servants were summoned here... ...we made the same choice the other did: to protect this world rather than eradicate our enemy. Escorting the Storm Border to the void spent the last of our magical energy. Soon, our Spirit Origin will vanish." (Olympus 23)
- "They vanished when the gods were destroyed. It seemed like they would never again materialise in this world, as they had accomplished everything they needed to do… However, the bonds they forged with the Master of Chaldea, and the records of their Spirit Origin in Novum Chaldea’s Trismegistus, it became possible to summon them in a state where they do not possess a Crown-rank Spirit Origin." (FGO Profile)
- Those are all the relevant quotes I can find. The 2nd one is the most important. It explictly states that Romulus did the same thing as Orion, pick a side to help another entity rather than exterminating their enemy. This is exactly the same reason why King Hassan lost his grand servant status against Tiamat. Romulus chose to use his remaning power to aid chaldea against chaos instead of fighting kirschtaria/the alien god.
- The quote you sent from the voice lines is not contradictory. It's the result of what he did in Olympus, that being, siding with chaldea against chaos. It's also possible that he wanted to join Chaldea period, but the prime original reason remains that action he took. We can just list both reasons anyway.GuessWhoYoutube (talk) 10:41, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
