Nibelungenlied

The Nibelungenlied^WP (ニーベルンゲンの歌^?), meaning Song of the Nibelungs, is an epic poem^WP detailing events in the 5th and 6th centuries.

History

The main character of the Nibelungenlied is Kriemhild. Siegfried obtaining the sword Balmung, slaying the dragon Fafnir, and winning the treasure Das Rheingold all happened before the story actually starts, and are only spoken of by other characters in the story as events that happened in the past. The Nibelungenlied is a story of Kriemhild's revenge after Siegfried's assassination.^[1]
