| Andromeda was the daughter of queen Cassiopeia of Ethiopia (Aethiopia). Her whole tale has its origin in Cassiopeia boasting about her beauty (or according to one theory, her daughter's beauty) surpassing that of the sea nymphs (Nereides). Cassiopeia is now enshrined as a constellationWP, alongside her husband, King Cepheus, but the wrath of Poseidon, a friend of the Nereides, has yet to be stilled, and so Cassiopeia is never allowed to dive under the sea, and as a result is always visible in the night sky. |
