fate zero is not a Prequel.

私は以前にこれを説明しました

even the title is {fake}, a form of future, which cannot be accomplished is {Fake}. To writer Narita Ryougo, it is just his own parallel world, created merely by his imaginations. As an example, the relationship between elkindu and gilgamesh: in both {fate/stay night} and {Fake}, their conclusion is the same, but the process has been slightly changed. Concerning the differences between all of {fate series stories}, F/Zero is {same kind of set-up/setting as {F/stay night}, but slightly off in a sense}. F/Apocrypa is {Same until it reaches a turning point then suddenly changes into a very different setting}. Lord el meloi ii case file is {Same world, but Sanda Makoto's spice caused changed in the setting and focused mostly on magic related stories} Finally {Strange Fake} is same setting, and same ending but, somehow turns out to be a different universe. - Fate/strange fake 1st release review

Spinoff series has a slightly off settings and changes in their own universes from {Fate stay night}, so they have relatively high amount of freedom in the form of writing in each stories, but {Lord elmeloi ii case files} has the same universe as Fate/stay night, so Sanda is trying his best to not contradict the story line between the two. - from a part in type moon ace vol.10 Narita Ryougo Interview

Yeah, Most of Japanese Typemoon core fandom already knew that the F/Z is not a prequel, but a spinoff. EGGS, you're too stubborn to accept official informations.

I think it's kinda nitpicky to say the story explicitly written as a prequel isn't a prequel because later material by a later author (who isn't Nasu mind you) contradicts it. Of course, Nasu's usual wishy washy "everything is canon except when it isn't" approach to continuity doesn't help. One could argue that literally every non-FSN product (including F/ha) isn't in continuity with FSN (or each other) due to the fact that they all contradict each other in terms of plot and story in line with the El Melloi thing somewhere.

(Side note: Seeing as Fate/Zero basically created the Waver/El Melloi II character, I find it ironic that his spinoff is being used as the thing to say Fate/Zero "isn't canon" to FSN.)

The best way to probably note it and make everyone happy is to note that Fate/Zero was written as a prequel to FSN and leave it at that. No need to confuse readers with obtuse continuity juggling based on later developments.

As I said, people are taking it way too literally. It's still treated as a direct prequel in both Grand Order and the UBW anime. There are also some irreconcilable differences that cannot be properly explained away. Both are correct statements. That kind of information should definitely be in the article, but it being in the lead will just confuse people. If you want to be truly literal, FSN cannot be in the same continuity as any of these new works now that Atram has been retconned into existence.

> If you want to be truly literal, FSN cannot be in the same continuity as any of these new works now that Atram has been retconned into existence.

Point taken. Why not just change it to 'It is written as a spinoff sequel' with no unnecessary extra explanations and leave it at that? That way It won't confuse newcomers and satisfy both parties.

That was pretty much what I did. Instead of saying "Fate/Zero is FSN's prequel" I rewrote it so it said "Fate/Zero is a novel...that was written as a prequel to FSN". I think spinoff can be assumed from there (as most prequels tend to be spinoffs, don't they?) Is that acceptable?

ok. EGGS. You are not qualified wiki admin. you're too stubborn to a wrong insist don't defile the wiki in the your arbitrary interpretation.

If it bothers people so much, I can also suggest making a small sub-section on the page that talks about "inconsistencies with other Fate Project works" or something.

Fate/Zero has, and always will be, designed as a prequel work that explains how the events of Fate/stay night came into being. 4 comes before 5, the ending of Zero is essentially the start of stay night. I don't think anyone need a post-graduate degree or an interview filled with statements left up to interpretation to understand something as simple as this.
