A pestle and mortar crafted of ancient, petrified wood, or a single, giant chicken leg bone inscribed with primordial runes.
﹂・・・ History ・・・﹁
Baba Yaga is not a single hero, but a phenomenon, a narrative archetype given form as a Heroic Spirit. She is the witch of the forest, a crone who dwells in a hut that spins on chicken legs, surrounded by a fence adorned with the skulls of the foolish. Her legends are a collection of cautionary tales and initiation stories. She is both a threat and a test; those who seek her out with courage, respect, and cunning may receive boons, wisdom, or powerful artifacts. Those who are arrogant, rude, or foolish become her dinner.
Her "feats" are the stories themselves: giving the Firebird's feather to the worthy Tsarevich, providing the magical horse to a kind-hearted girl, and presenting impossible tasks that forge heroes. She does not walk but flies through the air in a giant mortar, using the pestle as a rudder and sweeping away her tracks with a broom made of silver birch. She is a guardian of the secrets of life and death, a master of magic that predates modern Magecraft, and a force that cannot be commanded, only petitioned.
﹂・・・ Appearance ・・・﹁
Hair Color: Steel grey, long and unkempt, often filled with twigs and leaves.
Eye Color:Piercing, luminous gold, like the eyes of a bird of prey.
Height:178 cm
Weight:60 kg
﹂・・・ Personality ・・・﹁
Baba Yaga is mercurial, cunning, and utterly unpredictable. She finds mortal concepts of "good" and "evil" to be simplistic and amusing. Her primary drive is a deep, abiding curiosity. She is fascinated by human nature—their courage, their fears, their cleverness, and their stupidity. She will test her Master not with brute strength, but with riddles, tasks, and seemingly nonsensical demands. Passing her tests may earn her respect and powerful aid; failing them could lead to being abandoned or worse.
She is not inherently malicious, but she is dangerous, like a wild storm or a deep forest. She expects proper etiquette and will fly into a rage at the slightest disrespect. To her, a Master is less a commander and more of a potential "guest"—a role with very specific, perilous rules.
Likes/Loves: Cleverness, bravery (when paired with respect), riddles, the taste of fear (literally and metaphorically), the quiet of the deep woods, collecting strange and powerful things.
Dislikes/Hates: Wastefulness, laziness, rudeness, straightforward and boring people, being ordered around, the stench of "civilization."
﹂・・・ Class Skills ・・・﹁
· Item Construction: A++
· Territory Creation (Moving Forest) (A): The ability to build a special terrain that is advantageous to oneself as a magus. At this rank, creation of a "Temple" is possible. Baba Yaga's territory is not a fixed location but the "Moving Forest" that surrounds her Hut. The forest is a Reality Marble-like Bounded Field that obeys her will, confusing intruders, shifting paths, and being populated by her familiars (the three pairs of hands and the wildlife). The Hut itself is the core of this territory.
﹂・・・ Personal Skills ・・・﹁
· Wisdom of the Crone (EX): A Skill that represents the wisdom of one who has witnessed the turning of ages. It functions as a combination of Clairvoyance (at a rank sufficient for limited future sight), High-Speed Incantation, and a profound knowledge of all forms of old Magecraft, particularly those related to nature, curses, and transformation. She can dispense this wisdom in the form of cryptic advice or impossible tasks.
· Bone-Legged Hut Guardian (A): The sublimation of the three pairs of helping hands that are said to appear from the walls of her hut to aid her in her tasks. This skill allows her to summon spectral, disembodied hands that can act independently within her Territory. They can be used for defense, attack, item creation, or reconnaissance. They are her loyal and automatic servants.
· Demonic Dominion of Forest and Swamp (A+): This skill embodies Baba Yaga's absolute authority as the mistress and matriarch of the minor Phantasmal species that inhabit the deep woods and lethal swamps of her homeland. She does not merely summon them; they are an extension of her domain, her will made manifest, the very environment given malevolent life. This skill allows for the constant, automatic generation and command of Leshy and Kikimora as familiars. Individually, they are not particularly powerful, but their strength lies in their numbers, their deep connection to the land, and their ability to distort the terrain itself to their mistress's advantage.
﹂・・・ Noble Phantasms ・・・﹁
· Chicken-Legged Hut: The Wandering Domain of the Witch
Rank: A+
Type: Fortress / Anti-Army
The ultimate manifestation of Baba Yaga's legend, her home and primary weapon. It is not a single Noble Phantasm but a composite entity. The Hut itself is a powerful, mobile Bounded Field and fortress. It can be summoned to stomp on enemies, its fence of skulls can unleash curses and wails of despair, and its interior is a labyrinthine space where the normal laws of physics are subservient to Baba Yaga's will. To face the Hut is to face Baba Yaga on her own terms, within a world she completely controls. Its true name release involves the Hut revealing its full, monstrous size and unleashing a stomp of primordial energy that scours the land.
The Geas of the Threshold: A Riddle for a Life
Rank: C (EX under conditions)
Type: Anti-Unit
A conceptual Noble Phantasm that formalizes Baba Yaga's most famous trait: her love for tests and riddles. When a target enters her Territory or directly petitions her, she can invoke this Phantasm, binding them in a "Geas" or magical contract. She will present them with a task, a service, or a riddle. Success grants a boon proportional to the difficulty—this could range from a powerful magical item to the fulfillment of a single, great wish. Failure, however, allows her to claim a price, which is always the target's life, their magic, or their freedom. The power of the boon or curse upon fulfillment is what can reach EX-rank, as it operates on the level of a Command Spell or even a Miracle, but it is entirely dependent on the target's own actions and worth.
Khristal'naya Kost', Ukazuyushchiy Put' v Inoy Mir - The Crystalline Bone, Pointing the Path to the Otherworld
Type: Anti-Unit (Self) / Anti-Army / Barrier
Rank:A++
This Noble Phantasm is the embodiment of all her power as the guardian of the boundary between worlds. It is a perpetually active Noble Phantasm, a Bounded Field existing simultaneously in the material world and on the Reverse Side of the World. It is a "liminal space"—a place that is neither here nor there, obeying its own logic and geography. It can only be summoned or found by those who are lost, dying, or those whom Baba Yaga herself is seeking.
The true power of the Noble Phantasm is revealed through Baba Yaga's legendary bony leg.
Activation: Baba Yaga does not utter a true name. Instead, she exposes her left leg, which is not made of flesh and blood, but is a desiccated, crystalline bone, shimmering with a pale phosphorescent light. This leg is not part of her living body, but a conceptual anchor, binding her to the Throne of Heroes and the Realm of the Dead itself.
Effects:
1. The Guiding Staff (The Pathfinder): By stomping her bony leg on the ground, Baba Yaga does not cause a physical earthquake, but rather a "conceptual tremor" in reality. She forcibly redefines the area around her, overlaying the laws of the "other world" (the realm of the dead) onto the current location. The air becomes cold and still, colors fade, and sounds are muffled. For all beings within the area of effect, the concept of "life" is weakened. Regeneration skills are blocked, and the effectiveness of healing magic is drastically reduced.
2. The Destructive Touch (The Denial of Life): The most direct and lethal application. Baba Yaga can point her bony foot at a single target. This is not an energy blast, but a direct imposition of the concept of "the end of the road." She imposes "Simulated Death" upon the target. The effect is twofold:
· Weighing of the Soul: A check is made against the target's Luck parameter and their will to live (represented by their Mana or Strength parameter). Failure means the target's spiritual core is "judged" as having reached its destination. Their connection to their body is severed, they experience instant spiritual collapse, and their soul is forcibly directed to the Throne of Heroes (instant death).
· Affirmation of Boundaries: Even if the target resists the instant death effect, they become irrevocably "marked for death." Their parameters are lowered, and they lose the ability to leave the area defined by Baba Yaga's Bounded Field (the domain of her Hut). They are now trapped in her world, subject to her rules.
3. Invitation to the Threshold: A supportive, though sinister, function. Baba Yaga can use her leg to "touch" an ally (with their consent or one who is on the verge of death), transferring them into a state of "animated suspension" between life and death. This halts mortal wounds and poisons, rendering them invisible to the perception of the world, as they are temporarily considered to be "with one foot in the other world." However, remaining in this state for too long risks their soul being taken permanently.
Weakness: The authority of this Noble Phantasm is absolute over the dead and dying and very potent against the living. However, targets with a high level of Divinity (who are subject to different cosmic laws), those possessing skills like high-rank Battle Continuation (embodying the purest, illogical will to live), or those with Noble Phantasms that specifically reverse causality or deny death (e.g., Gáe Bolg, Hand of God), can resist or completely negate its effects. Its true power lies in its role as a guide and a guardian, not an indiscriminate tool of destruction. It affirms the natural order that she protects, making her nearly invincible within her territory, but potentially less effective against those who deny the very concept of a "natural end.”
